I only went to two yard sales last week and only bought 2 items but both are pretty good.
At the first sale I normally buy alot of stuff but the couple decided to price their stuff to the moon! The only item I bought was a complete set of Classique Belgique cookware for $85. Should sell for $250-$400 depending on if I part it out or sell individual pieces.
The next yard sale I bought a Carhartt jacket for 50 cents. Well first thing is that Carhartt canvas jackets are always BOLO if cheap enough. The thing you want to look for is an unusual interior lining. If it is plaid flannel or an unusual color you just found gold. In this case the lining was a red quilted lining and the tag is an older tag. I’ll be selling this jacket for $100-200.
Here’s a sold listing in similar condition
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266635908397
Last week I was only able to make one trip to Goodwill. I got a few bread n butter items but the real standout was I FINALLY found a Liquid Blue T shirt in the wild! It’s a newer one with the printed tag (Boo!) but still an amazing shirt. If you’ve never heard of Liquid Blue, you should do a quick ebay solds search. They are THE grail of t-shirt selling.
The one I got is a modern reprint of this design:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/375287119309
And since I’ll have forgotten by the time next week’s thread comes up I’ll share yesterday’s goodwill run. The shoe department was a strike-out but the mens clothing section was a BOON! I got multiple pair of jeans/pants in the $50 range for $4.50 each. Then in the coat section I found not one, but three vintage Woolrich jackets. I haven’t researched them yet, but I’m in for at least $100 each. This goodwill doesn’t mark up jackets/coats, so I just paid $6.99 each.
As I was in the checkout I saw a V-tech cordless phone system abandoned in the snack bin. I’ve had luck with these and was stuck in line so I checked it out. The seal looked like someone had picked at it so I went ahead and opened it – yep, new in box. This is a nicer one and has a near 100% 90 day STR at $75. I paid $7. That’s a nice unexpected score!

Hartland figures are BOLO!!!!!
04/16/2024 at 9:55 am #102861In reply to: Sale of the week April 7-13, 2024
Power tool chargers are a BOLO for me. I find them regularly for $1 at yard sales and they sell quick for $20-50+.
I also buy battery powered tools when the price is right and piece them out. I sold two craftsman reciprocating saws on ebay this week for $25 each. I bought an entire bin of Craftsman 18v tools last summer for $20. They were dirty but there were a ton of tools, a charger, and two batteries.
Yard sales are where the magic happens. Goodwills are great for bread n butter items but the unique stuff just never makes it to the floor anymore. Oh man, when I first started actively selling scavenge finds I found SOOOO much amazing stuff at Goodwill for next to nothing. It’s a different beast now – thrifts know what they have.
For every yard sale where I find shoes like that for $1, there will be another that has someone asking top dollar for everything. You just have to hit as many sales as efficiently as you can. I stick to the same local path every week and hit everything in that loop in about 2 hours. I never go to any other towns or areas here. I would if I was full time. If you’re willing to branch out to other areas and go HARD from 7am to 3pm you could find so much amazing stuff anywhere in the US.
If I remember right, you don’t have a car. It would be worth your while to rent a cheap car for the weekend for $100-150 and go to some suburbs around your area. Find some neighborhood wide sales and load up.
That would be a great adventure. It would be no sweat to score at least $1k of inventory for less than $100 COGS with a full days scavenging if you hit enough sales.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/335333116973 Bolo. I love these coffee mugs and find them from time to time. If I didn’t have our personal vacation mugs I would be collecting these arts and craft mugs. This got caught up in my sale and sold immediately.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235510722798 Can’t recall where I even got this but it sold immediately. I only picked it up because it was NIP Vineyard Vines. That brand I only see once in a while over here in the West.

Back to the Future MCA 1994 McDonalds Sealed NIP Watermarked VHS
I missed the crazy 2021 VHS price bubble on this one. It didn’t last long and I was in the hospital when it happened. A real flash in the pan. I originally listed this for $200! Oh well, still an amazing sale for $25 considering it was a 25 cent VHS.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266681622835

https://www.ebay.com/itm/266233164327
Adidas Youth Windbreaker Large Letters Blue & Yellow Size 7x Vintage
Now this is an OLD listing! This is a pre scavenger life listing for me! I’m talking 2015 my “flip flop summer” in between jobs (aptly named as I never wore anything other than flip flops all summer) My first ever photo booth – a coffee table in our school room. It’s a 10×12 room that had a 5 light chandelier style fixture. I put 75 watt LED daylight bulbs in that light to improve the lighting. Slapped a table cloth on the table, a $2 trifold piece of carboard behind the table and I was IN BUSINESS BABY!
Ah man, that was an AWESOME summer! The company was being spun off and they had to slash head count by 30% with 3 days notice. Got my red envelope on June 1. I was already on my way out the door and was already interviewing – it was like a gift! The engineering manager literally said “you seem to be taking this quite well”. I was legit smiling from ear to ear as he read off the details of the severance package. I was on payroll for 4 months with full benefits. I delayed the start of my new job until the end of August and we took a 2 week vacation to Orlando. I had never been able to take a 2 week vacation! Literally the BEST summer of my adult life.
That’s the summer my little hobby of buying & selling things branched out. BIG TIME. I walked into the new job with FU money and had the game plan that it would be my last day job. I’d keep building my side hustle and if the corporate axe came again, I’d just roll on into full time ebay. Ah, good times. I’m gonna get a little sampling of flip flop summer this year as I get 4 weeks paternity leave.

Polo Ralph Lauren Long Denim Work Chore Coat Jacket 100% Linen Men’s XXL
Sold on offer for $400. What an awesome jacket! I’m still in awe of just how “unicorn” that hoarder sale was, and for it to happen right in my own neighborhood! Literally the sale of my dreams, but TOTALLY real! I considered holding out for $500+, but was hungry for a sale during a slow week with time away active.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266333476799
American Eagle Cut Off Jean Shorts Pink Men’s 36 Denim Extreme Flex
Whoops, this was a hoarder item and I forgot to log it as such. Oh well! Men’s American Eagle can do quite well while Women’s is a dime a dozen. Sold for full price.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266514545163
Lilly Pulitzer Macfarlane Lace Shift Size 10 SUNGLOW YELLOW KISSED BY THE SUN
I bought 3 Lilly Pulitzer items at a yard sale this summer. That was a great sale where I got multiple $100+ items. I tend to remember those! If it is cheap, Lilly is a BOLO. I took a $34 offer on this. I paid $8.

Belleville 675 ST Gore-tex Boots Mens 12 R Cold Weather Waterproof Steel Toe
Combat boots are almost always a BOLO if the price is right. I picked these up at a yard sale for $2. Belleville is one of the better brands, and the Gore-tex lining makes them even better. Took about 7 months to sell for full price.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266321091656
Xtreme ESPN 2 Hat Cap Snapback Skateboard Skating Extreme Sports Vtg 90s
Just a cool hat that sold. I love vintage hats. I just wish they had a better STR. Sold for full price. Paid $1. I’m VERY picky with what hats I pick up now. I have one bin dedicated to hats and I try to keep it full but DON’T want to keep more than fits in that bin.

The King’s Abbey board game Kickstarter Edition 2016
I paid $2. Wow this game has alot of pieces. Normally I like counting pieces for games to show how complete it is. For this one I just assumed it was complete due to how well it was organized. No way I was gonna take the time to count that many pieces! I didn’t even want to photograph them all as you can tell.

Lenox Federal Platinum 54 Piece Lot Flatware 18/10 Stainless Forks Spoons Knives
So I bought this shoe box size plastic bin of dinnerware a couple years ago for like $3. It looked like nice stuff, and I figured some day I’d take the time to sort it out and list it. Well that day finally came when I found it while clearing out my weight lifting platform death pile. I sorted it by brand/style. Then I found each style to check comps. Sometimes easy, sometimes I have to wade through all the styles on replacements.com to find it. That search paid off for this item. I could have pieced out every individual piece of all this silverware, but I wanted to keep it simple and keep my ASP higher. I took an offer of $65.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266662865568
Faerie Tale Theatre VHS Tapes Lot Of 6 Shelley Duvall
Any time I see a collection of VHS or DVD I check it out. Sometimes it’s junk – sometimes it nets a good price and a quick sale like this lot. In most thrifts you have to buy each piece individually and it can add up quick. I paid $1 tape and this sold for full price within a month.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266641548889

Billy Joel Vinyl LP Lot of 4 52nd Street An Innocent Man The Bridge Glass Houses
Paid $1 each record. Sold on offer for $35. Took 21 months to sell…yuck! I even lotted this up to try and improve the STR. It was fun to list a bunch of records. I enjoyed handling, researching, and playing them all. BUT, the STR is ABYSMAL!!! Thankfully all the records I have aren’t taking up much space. Eventually I will just lot them up as classic rock just to get rid of it all. They’re just junking up my store at this point.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266362021775
SAS Duo Quarter Strap Comfort Women’s Leather Sandals Size 8.5 WW Natural

PRADA Men’s Driving Loafers Brown Leather Moccasins Slip On Shoes Size 9 UK
I suspect these are fake, but I could be wrong. Prada just does not have great quality even with known authentic pieces in my opinion. I went ahead and listed them and priced to sell. Sold on offer for $75 within 24 hours. The markings just seemed off and the prada indention marking was not quite right – you can’t see the middle piece of the “A”.

LALALOOPSY Doll Charlotte Charades Mime Large Full Size Doll Toy COMPLETE
My daughter has a big collection of Lalaloopsy so I’ve always had my eye out for them for her. She ruined a HUGE collection of mini dolls complete with all accessories over the years so I don’t give her the nice ones anymore – I sell them! I wish I would have sold all those minis instead of gifting them to her about 8 years ago. Lesson learned. She’s 17 now and still doesn’t take care of her stuff.

Team Caliber Owner Series Adam Petty Winston Cup 2000 Monte Carlo Sprint Car
Collectable die cast cars are a mixed bag. Most is worthless but some of it can be very valuable. I bought 4 of these at a sale blind because I just had a gut feeling there was something special in there. This wasn’t the best one but still it was a great pickup. Sold for $35 on offer.
If you find die cast car stuff, you just have to research it or get it dirt cheap. At this sale they were $5 each but I was able to use the ‘build a pile’ method to get the price down overall.

LG RC199H VHS VCR DVD Combo Player Recorder HDMI & RCA Out No Remote

CON-TECH LA-13-P T Connector – White
A small sale at $17, but I bought a pile of these things at the habitat for humanity a few years ago for $1 each. I’ve made quite a bit off of them. I go to the habitat for humanity about once a year and always find something neat to sell. I always like buying things in quantity for cheap with decent STR.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 Microsoft Xbox 360 Disc Only
This is the third copy of this game I’ve sold in the last month or two, but the first on xbox 360. Why is it so much more valuable on Xbox? Who knows! I’ll take it though.

Everbilt Multi-purpose Screws #7 x 1-5/8″ 1 lb Box Lot of 5
Home depot occasionally has some REALLY good clearance stuff. I’ve made quite a bit off of clearance stuff over the years from there. One day they had a shelf of different boxes of screws for 50 cents a box. I bought all of it…and then let it set on a death pile shelf for a long time. Occasionally I’ll get a wild hair and list some of them. They have almost all sold at this point. Not a big profit but it has added up to well over $100 over time. I’ll be listing the last two lots this week once I catch up on photos.

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon F
SLR camera bundles are always a BOLO. They’re usually cheap and can be parted out to make the most money. This is the second lens I sold from this Nikon bundle. Once the camera sells I’ll have made about $400 on a $5 purchase. The key is to check the optics for clarity. If you can see mold/mildew inside the lens optics then it is no good.

I had a numbers post get eaten a few weeks back, copy/pasted and couldn’t get the post to go through either. I’m glad your post didn’t get eaten this week because I added a few more BOLOs from it. That dollhouse wiring kit sale is really impressive. I think you got a good price because your listing redirects to a different listing (I really wish eBay didn’t do this) which looks like the same item (granted I don’t know what I’m looking at) and it is only priced at about $15.
I thought this is a great pearl of wisdom too. About the Star Wars lot.
Sorting/prioritizing a bulk buy is an art that all resellers should develop. It would be easy to get paralyzed by analysis when picking up something like this. Having a system allowed me to go through everything quickly and efficiently.
This was one of the biggest keys as I transitioned from part-time to full-time. Everything has its price, and some things are worth holding onto for the right price, but a lot of stuff is maybe not worth thinking too long about. Especially when you start buying in bulk. Get the valuable stuff separated and listed, figure out what else is worth holding onto to sell individually or in small curated lots, and then do something with everything else. “Something” can be whatever you want it to be on any given day. List a bulk lot, sell to a consignor or wholesaler who gives pennies on the dollar, donate to somewhere in your community that provides things to focus who need it, or throw things out. Don’t let maybes paralyze you into living with clutter, even though some clutter is inherently part of having an eBay business. I am still a work in progress with all this, mostly because I’m still in an apartment that’s too small for my business, but I’m getting there and it feels good to visibly see some progress each week.

Last week the forum ate my sale post and I just didn’t have the energy to redo it. I did copy the post prior to posting but for some reason it didn’t work! Grrr!
Here are some of my interesting sales this week:

Denby England Blue Jetty Cereal Soup Bowl 7″
I sold the last 4 of these bowls to a customer for full price – $100. I still have plenty of this Denby stuff left and so far I’ve made over $800. Not bad for a $100 investment.

Star Wars Lot Of Action Figure Accessories, Parts, Pieces, Stands and Weapons
I bought a millenium falcon at a yard sale which was full of figures and accessories. Sadly it was not the vintage one and it was in rough shape. I sold the falcon, did a some high level research to identify any valuable figures/accessories to list individually, and then just lotted up the junk. This is the junk. Took an offer of $20. Basically free money. Sorting/prioritizing a bulk buy is an art that all resellers should develop. It would be easy to get paralyzed by analysis when picking up something like this. Having a system allowed me to go through everything quickly and efficiently. Google image search is also an invaluable tool.

Skannerz Commander Radica 2001 Handheld Monster Scanning Barcode Toy Lot of 2
Sold for full price. If these weren’t so valuable I would give them to my kids (who would lose/destroy them in 2 days or less). I enjoyed testing them on barcoded items in my office!

West Bend Poppery II Automatic Hot Air Corn Popper Popcorn Vintage
I pulled this from a death pile. Old air poppers always sell quickly to diy coffee roasters. I always pick up old air poppers – BOLO!

ATA Martial Arts Sparring Gear Taekwondo Equipment Duffel Bag Karate Adult Size
I put off listing this one for months. I picked it up at a yard sale this summer along with some Harley riding gear and other misc items. Shame on me for waiting, but I got $160 for it. Paid approx $15 since I paid $50 for a pile of stuff including all the harley gear. The Harley boots alone sold a long time ago and more than paid for the whole lot. Bonus – it all fit me so I got to have a good time testing it all out.

Crouse Hinds Mp Style Breaker Lot of 19 20A 30A 40A 60A GFCI Single Double Mix
Now here’s an interesting one. In 2021 my electrical circuit panel took a dump. One of the mains lugs was bad so I lost one leg of the box. I had to replace the entire panel. Since this was an older panel the breakers couldn’t be reused. I was going to toss them, but thought surely someone could put these to use as backups or to do circuit additions to old panels. I thought right. Sold for full price. The best kind of scavenging!

Tommy Bahama Melamine Hobnail Aqua 6″ x 3″ Square Bowls Cereal Pasta Set of 4
Not a big sale but I knew these would sell quickly, are small, and would be easy to ship/ aren’t breakable. Picked up in Columbus at a Goodwill. Sold for full price – paid $4. I’m a sucker for interesting looking items like this – love the color and style! Apparently so do other people.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266577584108
Speed Racer Mach 5 Helmet Costume Car Race Around Sound
I knew this item wouldn’t last long – took 2 weeks. Sold for full price. Paid $2 at an independent thrift store I go to a couple times a year.
