In reply to: Sale of the week December 24-30, 2023
I closed out the year with some great sales.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266439738583
Robin’s Jean Men’s Size 40 x 36 Green Long Flap
I had never heard of this Jean’s brand before I bought multiple pair of them in the premium hoarder collection. STR isn’t great, but when they sell it is good money!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266560751500
Canon ZR830 MiniDV Camcorder W/ Battery & Charger – TESTED WORKS
Paid $5 at a yard sale. Small form Camcorders are always worth checking out. Sometimes people leave tapes in them which blows my mind. I get a a kick out of seeing what silly stuff is on the tapes. Some highlights I’ve seen: LOTS of Dog Videos- people used these to record their dogs before cameras you could access on your phone, kids basketball games, Hot air balloon fesitval, and my personal favorite – an angsty teen boy recording his philosophical musings while presumably high.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266520074108
Polo Ralph Lauren Cashmere Sweater Men’s Size XL Purple V Neck NWT
Premium hoarder sweater. Sold for full price. My buy cost averages out to $10.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266407130952
Sony DCR-TRV350 Handycam Camcorder TESTED Complete in box with leather Bag
Did I mention Camcorders are BOLO? That goes double for Sony. Sold for best offer of $323. I paid $20 at a yard sale. 8mm is the most desirable format.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266420775304
Vintage American Optical Microscope Illuminator Light Lamp No. 1087
This is one of the random vintage medical accessories I picked up this summer in a huge collection of mid-century medical equipment. Sold for best offer $20.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266505262119
Clarks Originals Desert Trek Leather Chukka Boots 36449 Mens US Size 11.5 Crepe
Sold these on best offer $40 after about 6 weeks. I paid $8 at Goodwill. Mainly highlighting these to point out the soles. These are “crepe sole” shoes. It is a very gummy rubber that is highly desirable. I hear it increases hipster street cred at least 40%! 😀
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266294966483
Singer Tiny Serger Overedging Sewing TS380 with BOX – Pedal Power Cord
Sold on offer for $53. I was hungry for sales to close out the year so I took the money and ran. Paid $10 at Goodwill. Sewing machines bought used are a crap shoot as many times there is a reason they were donated. The good thing is you can hedge your bets by parting a broken machine out and making even more money than selling whole. You can’t lose in most cases. In this case it tested great so I sold it complete.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266280348259
Holly Hobbie 25th Anniversary Collectors Edition 14″ Rag Doll Meritus 1993
Took an offer of $40. Paid $4 at Goodwill. Vintage toys with barcodes are so easy to research before buying. In this case there was enough evidence that I could get $40-50 that the purchase was a no-brainer. Took 6 months to sell.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266292252426
Greats Brooklyn Made in Italy Men Blue Suede Chukka Boots Mens Shoes US 14.5
Another example of why shoes rule. I paid $6 for these shoes. I had never heard of this brand before but they were well made, a popular style, a great color, and like new. With the larger size I knew they would take longer to sell but I also knew I could get a higher price to the right buyer. Sold for full price – $80.
01/03/2024 at 12:49 am #102046In reply to: Need tips from experienced men’s jeans sellers
Most buyers are honest and are thankful for the opportunity to return even at a loss. The scumbags are very rare thankfully.
Haggars are NWT only for me.
A couple Instant bolos:
Anything denim & supply Ralph Lauren
Polo Ralph lauren (jeans specifically)
bonus: check for selvedge seam inside cuff. If you haven’t heard of that you need to research it.
mountain hardware pants
vintage levi’s
NWT Lee extreme comfort
Bib overalls
vintage paco, JNCO, really anything vintage 90’s or earlier.
Once you’ve handled a ton of jeans, the good ones just kind of pop out when browsing. true vintage sticks out like a sore thumb.
NWT pants are a great pickup almost always. Even Walmart brands like wrangler and Lee NWT can be a quick $25 profit.
Mens jeans are generally more profitable than women’s. For instance, American Eagle WOMENS jeans are a dime a dozen and will sell for $10-15 – if they ever sell. I never get them now, especially since local goodwills ditched 99 cent tags.
Men’s American Eagle can be $30-40 and sell quick so they are worth researching when you find them.I generally avoid the more common levis jeans models. They’re too common and STR is bad Due to saturated market.
look for unique details – interesting distressing, special pockets, gussetted crotch, unique colors/patterns, special materials/ treatments (mercerized cotton for example), reinforced knees, linings. Unique means more item specifics, rarer items, higher STR with buyers wanting those item specifics. Typically means higher price too.
01/02/2024 at 4:39 pm #102042In reply to: Need tips from experienced men’s jeans sellers
Thanks everyone. Great responses from the forum. @retro-treasures-wv, you are correct. These were returned for fit and the buyer paid shipping in both directions, which cost him about $20. My guess is that buyers quickly figure this out and switch to INAD.
I was discouraged because they took a long time to finally sell. They are Haggar brand. Perhaps they would sell a lot sooner if they were perhaps Levi’s.
What brands of men’s jeans are on your BOLO list? And/or what brands would you pass on?

UNDERTALE Gold Locket Limited Collector’s Edition Nintendo Switch
First off, if you haven’t played this game you should! It’s unlike anything you’ve ever played. Anyways, my daughter wanted one of these collectors editions for the gold locket and soundtrack. I bought a few extra to resell since they are hard to come by. This was the last one I finally sold. Basically doubled my money after fees.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266505455987
Saunders Q&A Review Cards NCLEX-PN® Exam Silvestri Flash Cards 2d Ed LVN LPN
Medical/law flash cards are always a BOLO. These sold for full price in a month. I paid $2.

Vintage Panasonic Omnivision 13” Color TV VCR VHS Player Combo TESTED PV-C1332W

https://www.ebay.com/itm/266577081193

https://www.ebay.com/itm/266407631003
Vintage Gold’s Gym Men’s Black Crew Neck Sweatshirt Size M Made USA
Sold for $100 best offer. I paid $1 at a yard sale. I was shocked when I listed it. When I picked it up I figured it was good for $40-50.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266534252446
The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Berge 1st Ed HC DJ Book
I picked this book up at the Premium Hoarder sale for $1. Sold on offer for $60 since I was hungry for sales. I flipped through this book and I could see that this was the main influence on the interior decorating/hard goods that were in the apartment.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266568448818
Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak N64 Red and Black Memory Pack Original Authentic OEM
Sold for full price. Pro tip – if you ever pick up a Nintendo 64 to resell, pop open that little door in front of the cart slot and check for this bad boy. N64’s originally came with a jumper pack in this spot and the expansion memory was added later for newer games. I bought a few jumper packs for like $4 each pre-emptively a while back so I was able to swap this out and sell separately.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266294541846
Mr. Christmas Grand Music In Motion 15 Song Music Box Tested Punch Paper 1999
Sold on Christmas Eve for $90 best offer. I paid a couple bucks at a yard sale back this summer.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235341157455
I recognized these as Pottery Barn because my husband and I had the silver ones in the 90s. Good bolo, more modern than the current version PB has and I like them better. Paid $15
Not full sets but found several NIP sheets at a thrift for $6 apiece by the fantastic designer Vera Neumann. Buyer was very happy https://www.ebay.com/itm/335162101512
BUT it’s vintage Christmas craft kits for the win! Paid $2-5 each, estate sale and GW. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235329533726
12/20/2023 at 3:31 pm #101918In reply to: Sale of the week December 10-16, 2023
Some of the more interesting sales of the week, in no particular order or value:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266329018541
LEGO Minifigure Year by Year: A Visual History 2013 Book w/ 3 Minifigures
It is rare to find these books with the minifigures intact. BUT if you do, they are a BOLO.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266462722692
Ms Pac-Man Plug and Play Wireless TV Arcade 7 In 1 Game Namco Jakks Pacific 2004
Some of these old plug n play games are great BOLOs. This one is wireless and has the twisting joystick to play pole position.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266419265424
Levis Jeanswear Denim Shirt Men’s Size XL Vintage 1996 Band Collar NWT
Part of the premium hoarder collection. I did not think this would be a $100 item when I grabbed it. I love these pleasant surprise value items!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266371148223
Polaroid 600 film camera State Farm Business edition
Special edition polaroid cameras are always a BOLO. I still regret missing one of the rarest ones that goes for $600-800. This one eases the pain a bit. Sold on offer for $60.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266534876773
LOUIS VUITTON LV Monogram Blue Denim Arizona Moccasin Boat Shoes Slip-On Sz 10
This is the item that I really wanted to get $800 for, but took a $750 offer on. Kinda hard to swing the $800 thing with a receipt sitting there clearly showing only $706 was paid originally. LOL! This shoe (with a different sole color) is readily available at the Louis Vuitton online for for $910 brand new.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266435307557
EBI Bone Healing System Model 2001 Charger
Sold on offer for $60. This was a long term death pile item. It originally came with a battery but that didn’t hold a charge. Do these things actually work – questionable. Sometimes merely thinking things work can help recovery happen, so I hope this helps the buyer!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266408040879
PetSafe Wireless Fence Pet Containment System Adjustable Circular Range
These are definitely a BOLO. I’ve sold several over the years – always for over $100. I took an offer of $100 on this in the pursuit of the $4k week. I paid $10 at a yard sale.

The first pair of Alden’s I’ve ever found. Paid $8 at Goodwill. I was quite surprised to not find any Alden or Allen Edmonds in the premium hoarder collection.

Got this box only at a yard sale for free.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266411822739
Monsters Inc Imaginext SCARE FLOOR PLAYSET with accessories figures
One of the more valuable Imaginext sets. I bought 5 sets with figs at a yard sale a couple years ago. They sat on a shelf unlisted until this summer. I needed that shelf for hoarder shoes so I listed everything on the shelf. I have another shelf I need to do the same thing with soon.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266534150436
Fisher Price 73545 Ocean Wonders Aquarium Baby Crib Soother Lights Sounds 2002
Another item from that same “death shelf”. I had two of these that I was saving for a rainy day to “fix”. Early in my ebay career I had 2 of these that I disassembled, fixed, and refilled the liquid in. It was a fun project and it greatly increased the value. These two sat on this shelf for 3-4 years. I have passed on multiple other soothers since I never even listed these. Well the price/demand has went up even if the liquid level isn’t full. I tested/cleaned them both and they both sold within a week for full price.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266505297801
ValueTale Lot of 32 Books by Spencer Johnson 1st Edition Education Value Tales
First off, I had some of these books when I was a kid and LOVED them. They were also in my elementary school. I’ve sold lots of them twice in the past for good money so I knew they were a BOLO. I actually have two sets I listed. My mother-in-law gave me her set from her elementary counseling days, and I had another lot I bought from Goodwill (Boo for huge non-removable price tags at Goodwill…). I sorted both lots together so I could build as complete of a lot as possible (mostly 1st editions) and then listed the second lot of what was left.
Confucius was my favorite. Fellow Gen X/Xennials, which one was your favorite?
12/01/2023 at 10:02 am #101781In reply to: Sale of the week November 19-25, 2023
Loving Family was one of my first ever “BOLO’s”. When my oldest daughter was little, a neighbor gave her a TON of Loving Family stuff – multiple houses & tons of dolls/furniture. Then I found a bunch more at a yard sale for $20 – 2 houses, tons of dolls & furniture again!
I’ve been selling on ebay casually for years before I started a real business in 2015. My wife and I went through all this Loving Family stuff, kept what we wanted, and I sold the rest. I can vividly remember photographing those items resting on the deck rail of my back porch using the beautiful evening light and treeline as my backdrop. I made a TON of money. Since then I always buy it every time I see it.
I’ve sold well over 100 dolls at this point. Countless furniture individually or in lots.
The dollhouses are a pain to ship but I’ve shipped 5 or 6 of them. Always sell for $100+.
One time I bought a bunch of New In Box Loving Family stuff when K-mart was going out of business. Dozens of furniture sets that I bought for $5-8 and sold for $40+ each.
Ahh, Kmart Bankruptcy was VERY good to my business for inventory and business equipment. I even used my scavenger skills and bought a Carboard baler for my day job at Kmart.
Anyways, it’s all good stuff but the best stuff are the dolls with a pink heart on their back or an accessory with a pink ribbon. These are from the “sweet sounds” series and are interactive with the sweet sounds house. It’s a pretty cool house!
11/29/2023 at 9:25 am #101762In reply to: Sale of the week November 19-25, 2023
I had a ton of low dollar sales this week. That’s fine by me! It all adds up and I need it all to sell.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266453569195
NEW BURBERRY LUXURY CASHMERE GIANT CHECK SCARF WRAP 168X30 CM IVORY
This was a random throw in item when I was buying the rest of the hoarder shoe collection. Not bad for a throw in item! Took an offer of $300 and already have glowing feedback.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266464034454
Gucci Black Rubber Marmont And Tiger Embellished Buckle Strap Sandals Mens Sz 10
This was my high dollar item of the week. A $400+ pair of shoes sold so all is right in the world. I haven’t sold a $400 pair yet this week so…..waaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! 😀
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266514541010
Wilsons Leather Maxima Penny Lane Long Boho Faux Fur Coat Size Small Vintage
I picked this up at the last yard sale of the season for $5. I was super bummed when I saw the spots on the back when I was photographing. Still sold quickly for $100. I don’t really buy coats anymore but the STR on this one fit the bill.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266446765777

Curt Custom Fit Class II Receiver Hitch – Fits 2008-2012 Scion XB, Model# 12490
I did end/sell similar on this one in October. I took an offer of $100. This was actually FREE at a yard sale a couple years ago. A major Pain to pack, but I was able to resize a box and make it work.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266524941337
Polo Ralph Lauren Cashmere Wool Vest Full Zip Black Men’s Size XXL NWT
Another pleasant surprise from the hoarder collection. I’ve said this before, but when I’m buying this stuff I’m just giving each item a quick glance, checking their price, and throwing them on a table as fast as I can go. So this one I saw NWT vest and thought “Yeah that’s at least $50” and moved on. I didn’t realize it was Cashmere and I didn’t see the original price tag either. Sold for $340 in a couple days.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266459911709
Motorola MDA920A-6 Single-Phase Full-Wave Bridge Rectifier Lot of 11
Years ago I bought a couple vintage electronics repair parts bins. I cherry picked the good stuff and listed separately and then listed the parts bins with the leftover stuff. So technically my cost on these is zero.

Zebra ZM400 Thermal Label Barcode Printer ZM400-2001-0100T USB NETWORK SERIAL
I make a trip through the shipping department every day at my day job to check for bubble wrap. Sometimes it is in the floor in the department and sometimes it’s in the dumpster. As I checked the dumpster I saw their old zebra label machine. I fished it out of there, took it home, tested/cleaned/listed for parts or repair. Sold quickly for full price.

Sold within 24 hours for full price. This was from a MASSIVE amount of POGS I bought at Goodwill. Louis Vuitton Bidart Espadrille Monogram Denim Shoes 12 US 11 LV
From the premium hoarder collection. Sold within 24 hours on offer. I really wanted to cross that $500 threshold, but it wasn’t worth risking the sale. Note: The buyer did not request the chewed on box. LOL! Why someone would spend this kind of money I personally don’t understand but I do realize money is subjective. How I view $500 now is completely different than someone else views it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266321194341
Carhartt Detroit 6BLJ Jacket Mens Size 44 Blanket Lined Union Made USA Vintage
If you ever see a carhartt jacket with a wool lining it is a BOLO for sure. This is the second one of these Detroit jackets I’ve sold this year. Paid about 25 cents for this one as it was part of a $5 fill a bin sale at a yard sale back in July.

Radio Shack RC Car Lightning High Speed Digital Proportional Car Works
Sold on offer for $60. The buyer message me that he would leave positive feedback even if it didn’t work. It does work, but that peace of mind knowing I’m not gonna have a picky buyer is worth it on a vintage electronic item.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266413826004
Vintage Pinball Arcade Coin Box 8”x5.25”x2.25”
This one is a fun one. This was on the death pile cart. It came in an old arcade cabinet I bought for a project I never completed (Note: That cabinet is also on ebay here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265915378621)
It did not go to that cabinet and I had no idea what pinball it would go to. As I was cleaning I went to chuck it in the trash pile, hesitated, and decided to list it. I didn’t even clean it! Slapped $30 on it and added the dimensions. Sold within 12 hours.
It seems like every time I hesitate to list an item, then list it anyways even damaged it sells quickly. Such a strange quirk of this business!
07/09/2023 at 2:03 pm #100521In reply to: Sale of the Week June 25-July 1, 2023
Loving that butter dish…$80 seems like an absolutely crazy price for a butter dish…but apparently not at all crazy for a Denby butter dish. Great BOLO!
Great discipline on the parts-only sales, it would have been so easy (and must have been tempting) to trash and move on.
Prices for your doublenest hammock are all over the place, but there are limited edition collabs of that hammock which go for $100 and up: Grateful Dead, Supreme. Companies will really make almost anything into a limited edition for twice the price. As a scavenger, I kind of love it but it must be very frustrating for someone who really gets joy out of collecting on a limited budget.

I took an offer of $125 to get the sales a movin’ this week.
WWE Royal Rumble – The Complete Anthology, Vol. 1 DVD
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266283280996
I always pick up wrestling media. In this day & age the streaming versions can be edited at any time. controversial content can be removed, song rights can expire and be replaced, etc.
It’s amazing that in 1984 Orwell predicted the idea of constantly updating and editing of media to present accepted ideals.

One of the pair of $100+ shoes I had forgot about. I listed them this morning for $200 – shooting for the moon. Sent an offer of $175. Got a counter for $100. I went ahead and took it – no need to be greedy. $100 is still higher than any other comp in terapeak, and I was actually going to list it at $99.99 before changing my mind.
Sold in less than 2 hours.
If you ever see an old pair of dress shoes with that v-nail on the sole – that is a BOLO.
