I had 200 auctions ending this past Monday, relisted everything that didn’t sell by Tuesday and started a new batch on Thursday the 30th, so my sales were busy at the beginning and slow by the end. Books were very popular at auction this week, but I have a bad habit of charging a flat rate for shipping all media which doesn’t cover the cost of freight for bulky books, and The Genius of Lothar Meggendorfer and Todd Saunders: New Northern Houses both weighed too much and went from the East Coast to the West Coast. I did make a few bucks on an Easton Press baseball book, at least.
I made it up for those small profits with a few other big items. My net profit was only about $10 on this signed mini hockey stick, but it was a quick one month flip and I nailed the shipping cost perfectly since it was an east coast team (New York Rangers) and east coast buyer. I did well on this Carlo Maria Giulini box set, one of the last few good items from my Chicago haul, with a $97.46 net on an item that cost me $40. I made another $50 on a pair of autographed World War 2 photos, with a $30 net on this USS Indianapolis signed photo and a $15 net on this 393rd bomb squadron signed photo.
Even my low dollar sales, like this Stephen Curry Leaf golf card, were listings that I have multiple quantities of. It’s another reminder of why it’s so important to go over these sales every week. I can see the signs of how my business has changed and grown in the last year, and that’s going to inspire me to work a little harder this week.
What did you sell this week?

@Craig – Curious why you do flat rate shipping? A large percentage of my orders go to California so I’d be eating profit all the time if I charged for East Coast shipping.

Monsters Inc Imaginext SCARE FLOOR PLAYSET with accessories figures
One of the more valuable Imaginext sets. I bought 5 sets with figs at a yard sale a couple years ago. They sat on a shelf unlisted until this summer. I needed that shelf for hoarder shoes so I listed everything on the shelf. I have another shelf I need to do the same thing with soon.

Fisher Price 73545 Ocean Wonders Aquarium Baby Crib Soother Lights Sounds 2002
Another item from that same “death shelf”. I had two of these that I was saving for a rainy day to “fix”. Early in my ebay career I had 2 of these that I disassembled, fixed, and refilled the liquid in. It was a fun project and it greatly increased the value. These two sat on this shelf for 3-4 years. I have passed on multiple other soothers since I never even listed these. Well the price/demand has went up even if the liquid level isn’t full. I tested/cleaned them both and they both sold within a week for full price.

ValueTale Lot of 32 Books by Spencer Johnson 1st Edition Education Value Tales
First off, I had some of these books when I was a kid and LOVED them. They were also in my elementary school. I’ve sold lots of them twice in the past for good money so I knew they were a BOLO. I actually have two sets I listed. My mother-in-law gave me her set from her elementary counseling days, and I had another lot I bought from Goodwill (Boo for huge non-removable price tags at Goodwill…). I sorted both lots together so I could build as complete of a lot as possible (mostly 1st editions) and then listed the second lot of what was left.
Confucius was my favorite. Fellow Gen X/Xennials, which one was your favorite?

@Retro – great sales. Always interesting to see what sells. I would have passed up those books, that box and that crib soother.

Really any time you see a “set” of books it is worth checking it out. Even more so if it is cheap.
I also sold a set of 19 diary of a whimpy kid books this week for $75. It isn’t alot per book, but if you are getting the books for $1 or less per book it is quite lucrative. In this case I had $10 in this set.
