Last week’s faves:
Japanese Silk Scroll Art – I know nothing about this, other than I thought it was beautiful.
I think I paid a buck or two and took and offer of $125.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332234651623Vintage Gym Locker Baskets – I bought a bunch of these (probably around 40) along with the rack a few years ago. The rack had been cut in half and was super heavy, so I decided to use it for storage and I’m selling the baskets in lots. I paid $40 for all of it and sold these for $85. Only a few lots left!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232616312249Vintage Roller Derby Skates – Paid $5 at a yard sale and took a $40 offer.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332507067548Vintage GE Fan – I see fans all the time and I love the look of them, but this took forever to sell, so I’m not sure if I’ll buy them again. Probably only if they are super cool. Paid $5 at and auction, sold for $60.

I haven’t tallied up my year-end numbers yet, but it will be interesting to see. Looks like you had a good year!
01/13/2018 at 11:27 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Gear shift, Hats, MCM magazine ashtray stand, Knives, DVD Recorder, Cast Iron Kettle #30419I love them too. I sold one pattern that I’ve been regretting ever since. I find Pendleton blankets once in a while (not too often), since it is sort of in my neck of the woods and since we are right near a reservation. Keep an eye on my store! 😉
01/13/2018 at 2:53 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Gear shift, Hats, MCM magazine ashtray stand, Knives, DVD Recorder, Cast Iron Kettle #30408That’s cool! At a yard sale a lady was selling a couple of really cool cat/dog beds made of of old stylish TVS. Great scavenger project! Google it!
01/13/2018 at 2:49 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Gear shift, Hats, MCM magazine ashtray stand, Knives, DVD Recorder, Cast Iron Kettle #30407I’m a little late to the game here, but here are a few cool things I sold last week:
Pendleton “Big Lebowski” style sweater – I bought this for $1 at an estate sale and it sold for $160.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332388540893Pendleton Blanket – Paid $4 at a yard sale and it sold for $250 after turning down lots of offers. Glad I held out!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332207206607Vintage Fireworks Box – I think this was $2-$3 at a thrift shop (and had several Shiny Brite ornaments inside) and sold for $43. I rarely do auctions but tried it on this since it seemed to be in demand. Probably could have done better fixed price, but I’m pretty happy with $43 for an empty box.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2326145565161967 Raquel Welch Poster – Paid $1 at an estate sale and took an $80 offer.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $13.60Wow, what an awesome week! I remember this week last year being pretty great, so I was hopeful, and it turns out it was by biggest week ever! Even though I’ve been eBaying for years, I continue to be blown away at the profits that can be made. $41.46 cost of goods sold turned into over $1500 in sales, and I got to stay home with my family. Pretty cool.
In other news, a relative hired me this week to help deal with her grandparents’ estate. I was planning to help anyway, so it will be nice to get paid since it could keep me away from listing on eBay for a while. It will likely be a lot of work, but it sounds really fun to me, and I think I’ll learn a lot about items I’ve never paid attention to. Not sure when we will get started, but I’ll let you know how it goes.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $2.79Happy New Year and a belated merry Christmas! I’m excited that the new year is hear and ready to really crack down on my listing. I did almost no listing at all in December, which I realize probably wasn’t great for my sales, but oh was the break wonderful, and that’s exactly why I’m doing this. I’ve been in retail for the last 24 years, and this was the first year that I have been able to truly enjoy a low-stress holiday season. I still had pretty great sales, and enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve sold a bunch the last few days, so hopefully it continues. Now it’s time to get back on track, so I will be listing lots this week, and listening to the podcast today. Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!
12/29/2017 at 11:57 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Old shoes, record changer, Portable 8-Track, Heathkit, Cabinet photo, McCoy Owl #29509I haven’t posted any of my sold items in quite a while, but here are a few of my favorites from last week.
Vintage Santa Poster – This guy was pretty rough around the edges (literally), but super cool and I just love him. The buyer wanted it quick for use at a party, so he paid over $30 in shipping to get it on time. I paid 39 cents at a thrift store (rolled up in the wrapping paper bin), and it sold for $65!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232552685545Smokey Bear Poster – Paid $1 for this at an otherwise terrible yard sale, and sold for $55.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232103332279Tina Turner Poster – Posters continue to be one of my very favorite things to sell. I don’t find them too often, but I always grab them if they are cool and they sell regularly. Got this one at a yard sale for $2 and it sold for $60.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232561178895Miniature Tinkerbell Tea Set – I purchased this at a yard sale for $5. It was missing a piece, but still sold for $49.99.

Money spent on new inventory this week: 0This was a great week! My record keeping is not the best, but I’m pretty sure this is my best week ever. I had quite a few $30-$50 sales and the one big one, which was great. This week has started out with some nice sales too. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast yet, but hopefully tonight!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $3.00I’ve worked in retail for the last 24 years and this was the first Thanksgiving/Black Friday that I’ve had off in probably that many years (or very close to it), all thanks to eBay! It was a glorious holiday – I didn’t get up and leave the dinner table early to go to work, I relaxed and made pies, and I even went shopping myself on Friday. eBay is definitely something I’m thankful for this year!
My sales weren’t exactly exciting last week, which was probably closely related to my relaxed holiday break. But it was totally worth the time with family. And this week is off to a good start. Cyber Monday is treating me alright!
Also, I haven’t quite finished the podcast, but I’m totally in awe of the jacket sale! That’s a tough call, but I think it might be worth the possible bad feedback to get that sale (although I’d feel pretty bad). I sold a pristine jean jacket last year that I knew was good, even though it wasn’t Levi’s. But I put it up for I think $300 or so and it sold instantly (as did a Levi’s denim hat that I sold for $250). I think I’ll definitely try the auction route next time I find good denim. Thanks for another great podcast!
11/20/2017 at 12:06 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Hats, mailbox, 48 star flag, big boy pants, turntables, Jean jackets, Marilyn Monroe The Last Photos. #26056My favorite sales of the week:
Vintage Halloween Decoration – Paid $35 for a box at auction, sold for best offer of $140.00. This was the gem for sure, but there were a number of other pretty cool die-cute too, so I figure they worked out to about $3.50 each.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232544247150Vintage Valentine Card – Paid $8 for a box of these, so they worked out to about 83 cents each. Sold for $39.99.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332399553266Vintage Carhartt Work Jeans – These belonged to my father-in-law, who wore them for years logging in Idaho. Naturally worn and they looked pretty cool. My husband had them for some reason, so when we cleaned the closet recently, I decided to post them instead of toss them. They sold pretty quickly for $45.00.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $72.00Moved a lot of items this week! I was really excited to sell the Halloween decoration. This is one thing that I think I’d like to collect myself, but I can’t bear to keep them at these prices! I’ll post a link on the what sold forum.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $45.52This was a great week for me, with numerous sales most days. The yard sales have pretty much dried up for the year, so I guess I’ll have to pay up at the thrift stores for a while. (Although, I also have a number of death piles I’m avoiding.) I did hit up the Goodwill outlet that’s about 2 hours away from me this week, and got some stuff. Nothing amazing, but it was cheap and will sell. And I’ve got my eyes peeled for estate sales and auctions! Now, time to work!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $106.61It was a good week for me with several days that had numerous sales. I’ve recently listed a number of higher priced Christmas items, so I’m hoping those will go soon. I’m also going to check out Wal-Mart today to see how cheap their Halloween stuff is. Yesterday an employee said she thought it would all go 90% off within a day or two, so I’m going to see if I can get some costumes. Not really what I like to sell and there is a lot of competition, but if they are cheap enough, why not?!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $106.61Great podcast! I loved the extreme scavenging. The road burger had me laughing out loud! I’m not sure what mine is. Nothing quite that exciting, but there was one estate sale house that had been totally mouse infested and there was mouse poop everywhere. It was totally gross but I dug around there for hours and have made a ton of money from it. Totally worth it!
I went to an auction this weekend and scored a box of really old Halloween die-cuts, one of my favorite things to sell. I already got a $125 offer on one, and I can’t even believe it, but I countered it. Hope that was the right thing to do!
