Money spent on new inventory this week: $210.25The week was super slow for me too. I’m selling, but it’s mostly the super cheap stuff. I’m accepting some pretty lowball offers, just to keep things moving. Today I went through and slashed the prices on some really old stuff that isn’t worth much anyway, to try and make some space in my storage room. And since I did that, I’ve actually sold several really old cheap items, but not the things I marked down. Think it’s related? Who knows. I’m just happy to be rid of them!
I had two days in a row of great scavenging this weekend with an out of town estate sale on Friday and a huge community yard sale on Saturday. I got great stuff at both, and I’m working away to get it all listed. At the estate sale, they had food items for free, so I grabbed a few that had a cool vintage look. I already sold a can of malted milk for $30 and have multiple watchers on the others already. Can’t wait till the expensive stuff starts selling!
02/20/2018 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 348: Acknowledge When Hard Work Pays Off #33445I love those Folkmanis puppets. Cool, quality toys and they always sell. Not a huge moneymaker, but some can sell for quite a bit.

Grain Growers hat – I find a lot of these in my area, and they always sell.
I got this one from my husband’s grandpa who worked there. Sold for $39.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/332445191742Leather Biker Hat – This one was free too in a pile at a junky yard sale. Sold for $79.99.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $56.09Got quite a bit of listing done this week, and I’m still down about 50+ listings from where I was at the beginning of November. I see it as a good sign when I can’t keep up with my sales.
I’ve hardly collected any inventory the last couple of months, and have been trying to sort through some of the death piles, but I bought some fresh stuff the last couple of weekends, and that helps keep me going. Way more fun than those old death piles!

Kawasaki Mule Hat – Definitely a heavily worn hat, I got this at a small-town community yard sale for $1. Sold for $100!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332372556439Mack Truck Hat – Another good hat from a yard sale. Paid $.50, sold for $52.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332521902221Abraham Lincoln Print Curtain – This beauty is what went to some big-time celebrities this week. Oh how I wish I knew what they were going to do with it! Purchased at the Goodwill bins for about $2-3 and sold for $89.99.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332156742976Rolodex Refill Cards – I learned to look for these here on the podcast, so I paid up at $5. Sold for $49.99. Thanks for the tip!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $32.86This was the week of the hat in my store. 7 of my 17 sales were hats, and most were fairly high priced. I was stoked to sell one for $100, but also sold one for $49.99 and two to the same buyer for a total of $73.45.
Last week I mentioned that I sold some napkins to a celeb, and thought that was pretty fun, but I definitely topped it this week. I sold an item (one of the weirdest in my store) to a major celebrity couple and shipped it right to their 12.75 million dollar home. I always have to brag about those ones!
Thanks for another great podcast. I’m always sad when they end while I’m still working!
02/03/2018 at 4:53 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Stereo brochure, Carl Jung book, Typewriter, Bike helmet #32039I can just post links as well if that’s better. I love the photos, but links are easier!
02/02/2018 at 11:39 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Stereo brochure, Carl Jung book, Typewriter, Bike helmet #31919Thanks! I got a couple of Easy Rider posters at the same sale, but this one was my favorite.
02/01/2018 at 11:59 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Stereo brochure, Carl Jung book, Typewriter, Bike helmet #31901Here are a few sales from last week. I’m trying the imgur thing, so hopefully this works!
Steve McQueen Poster – Bought this at an estate sale for $1 and accepted an offer of $100. I think it’s super cool!

Vintage Napkins – Bought for probably 25 cents or so and sold for $19.99. Not a big sale, but it was fun as they went to a celebrity (actually, it was her long-time girlfriend, but I’m counting it!).

Playfair Jacket – This jacket was from Playfair, a horse racing track in Spokane, WA that no longer exists. I got it in the bins at the Goodwill Outlet there and it went right back to Spokane. Paid $1-$2, sold for $65.

Vintage Lamp – Purchased at an estate sale for $2, sold for $40.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $44.54It was a very slow week around here as well. Not many solds, and low prices for the most part. But enjoyed the week nonetheless, and I was appreciating eBay as I had the chance to go out of town for the night to a concert (and of course scavenging), with no worry of rushing back to get to work.
Also, today is my eBayiversary! I went full-time on eBay one year ago today, and haven’t looked back. I also got my 1099 from Paypal today and had better numbers than I thought! I’m anxious to see how it all shakes out when I do taxes and figure out all of my costs, but I think I’m doing pretty well for someone who “sells old shoes on the Internet.”
01/25/2018 at 12:54 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Mushroom mugs, Car books, Lineman belt, Sansui amp, Columbia snow shoes, Native Barbie, Gun case #31287Favorites from last week:
Vintage Tabletop Hockey Game – My husband bought and listed this one. Paid $7.99 at a thrift store and it sold for $119.99 …to someone in Canada, of course!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232514419334Vintage Mailbox – Bought it at an estate sale for $5 and sold for $149.99. This is the one I mentioned that they paid $308 shipping for. Sheesh!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/332339939456Ugly Owl Ornament – I found this in a big bag of ornaments from a thrift store and priced it kind of high since it was an owl and quite unique, but couldn’t turn down a $25 offer since I think it’s ridiculous.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232548492392Trench Art Letter Opener – I don’t remember where I got this one, but I know it was cheap. It sold for $24.99. This is the second piece of “trench art” I’ve sold, and I’m wondering if I should have priced it higher? Who knows.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $16.72Great week for me! It seems like I’ve been selling a lot of large sized items lately, so shipping has been interesting. Great to move some big things and make room for more as yard sale season approaches. I’ve been desperate for yard sales lately, and on Saturday I stumbled across an unadvertised estate sale and loaded up. So glad to have something other than death piles to list!
The mailbox that I sold went to a photo stylist in New York, who has all the big magazines, etc. as clients. She needed it shipped next day and just had me charge the shipping to her FedEx account. The shipping was $308. So funny to me that she ended up paying $450 for an item that is all over my area.
01/19/2018 at 12:29 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 343: Our Business = Little Things Every Day #30782Here’s an interesting auction happening right now. A Dixie Cup used by Elvis going for $1700+. I’ll be watching this one!
