Money spent on new inventory this week: $35.33This was a very slow week with mainly just small sales. I barely listed since I was busy with other stuff, but I listed a bunch yesterday and I’m planning to do a lot the next few days, so hopefully it will pick up. Have a great trip and enjoy your time in the beautiful northwest!
04/20/2017 at 2:41 am in reply to: What Sells on eBay: Pochade paint box, trucker hats, Marantz receiver, JBL Speakers, reel tapes, Polaroid case #16851I haven’t had a chance to watch yet, but here are some faves from last week.
Another 1940s Photo Album w/ pics – I will always be looking for photo albums now after having a few good sales. I think I paid $3.75 for this at an estate sale and it sold for $125.
George Washington Miniatures – This is a fun one! I got it at a really junky estate sale for about $1.00, and it sold for $125. I was really nervous about shipping the display case, and then the guy emailed to say he didn’t want it. Score!
Vintage Gym Locker Baskets – I bought a whole gym locker rack with 35 or so baskets a couple of years ago. The baskets were 3 different brands, and the rack was cut in half, so I’m just selling the baskets and I FINALLY listed some. They had tons of watchers, so when these sold I quickly dug out a few more batches and got them listed. I paid $40 for all and this set sold for $80.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $32.98The week started out really slow, but I got some listing done, and it ended up great with several higher priced sales late in the week. And today, on Easter, I sold a Halloween decoration! Can’t wait to listen tomorrow!
04/14/2017 at 9:57 pm in reply to: What Sells on eBay: HP keyboard, L.A. Olympics hat, Bumper sticker, Hurricane lamp, Can opener, Bank bags #16618Ugh. I knew I was probably being too hasty accepting that offer so fast. I’m usually TOO patient, and turn down good offers, but $300 sounded pretty good. Oh well, next time I find one (haha) I’ll know better! Thanks for the tip!
04/13/2017 at 8:01 pm in reply to: What Sells on eBay: HP keyboard, L.A. Olympics hat, Bumper sticker, Hurricane lamp, Can opener, Bank bags #16581Some favorites from the last couple weeks:
Fancy pocket watch – My mom got this at an estate sale for around $5 and gave it to me to sell.
It sold for $300 the same day!Fisher Price Castle – Paid $5 for this at the thrift store. I bought it to sell, but my kids loved it, so they played with it for about a month and I listed it when they lost interest. Sold for $125 the next day!
Mid-Century Spider Table Legs – My mom gave me this one too. She got it cheap at an estate sale ($7, I think). Sold for $175.
Vintage bowling shirt – Got it for $5 at a yard sale over a year ago.
Accepted a $100 offer.Volkswagen Magazine Ad – I bought several old magazines for next to nothing recently. Most of them didn’t look like they were worth much, so I cut out some of the ads that I thought were cool and this was my favorite. It’s the only one that has sold, but if I sell some more I might have to try that again. Easy money for sure!

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $93.72Speaking of auctions, I went to one during the week listed above and spent quite a lot on fishing lures! Not my thing at all, but they were mostly new in package so I figured they would be easy to flip. Not as simple as I’d hoped, and now I’m avoiding the box altogether. Wish me luck!
03/30/2017 at 8:52 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Spectacles, Water Ski, Prince 45, Pattern kits, Photo Enlarger #15661Some faves from last week:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Alaska-Fish-amp-Game-Patch-with-Totem-Brown-Gold-Law-Enforcement-/231665903111?rd=11970s Bruce Lee Poster – I purchased 3 vtg Bruce Lee posters together for $10 and sold this one for $80 a couple weeks after a “serious collector” wrote to let me know that they were overpriced and worth no more than $25. Maybe I should send him a note? 😉
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Original-1974-Bruce-Lee-Poster-36-x-24-Martial-Arts-Warner-Bros-/332124372808?rd=1Wee Waffle Blocks – I think I paid $1-2 for these at a rummage sale. My daughter played with them for a while, then I sold them for $45.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $43.85A new personal record for me …my first week over $1000! It was a great week with several good sales and some more cool yard sales (so happy spring is here). In addition to the poster, I sold a patch for $100 and a Pepsi hat for $120. Really hoping the hat guy pays up today. Oh, and we finally did our taxes! Hopefully I got all the eBay end of it right, as I’m not exactly the best record keeper.
At the end of the week we are headed to Portland for a family vacation, which will include a thrifting extravaganza for me! The kids will be thrilled, haha. There won’t be much room in the car, so hopefully I can find some cool little stuff. At any rate, it will be a fun change of scenery.
03/23/2017 at 1:13 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Fur hat, Wire recorder, Phono cartridge, Boombox #15162So glad you posted this! I have a 1970s Millennium Falcon sitting in the basement that I can’t bring myself to list because it is so dirty and beat up/missing parts. Great idea to part it out! I’m sure I’ll still avoid it, but this helps!
03/23/2017 at 2:15 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Fur hat, Wire recorder, Phono cartridge, Boombox #15120Amazed by Steve’s sales, as always!
Some of my favorites from last week:
Vintage Bartlett Cookie Jar – Bought for $5 and sold for $95 the day I listed it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Bartlett-Clown-Circus-Cookie-Jar-Orange-White-Glass-Rare-Mid-Century-/332153534431?rd=1Mid-Century Wall Clock – Bought for $5 and sold for $60. I love this! If it didn’t have a cord, it would be hanging in my kitchen.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mid-Century-Robert-Shaw-Lux-Wall-Clock-Turquoise-Aqua-Blue-Retro-US-made-/232236051569?rd=11950s Letterman Sweater – I don’t remember what I paid for this, but it was kind of a lot (for me). I think around $20. I’ve had it listed forever and happily took a $150 offer.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Wool-Letterman-039-s-Sweater-with-Leather-Elbow-Patches-Red-1950s-Rockabilly-/331475434855?rd=1Vintage Saddle Stirrup Clock – Paid $1-2, sold for $34.99 the day it was listed. This one was fun because it went to the wife (widow) of an actor/hall of fame cowboy. Looks like it was made for her.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $97.82Had a great weekend of scavenging this week at just a couple of sales. At the first I spent too much (more than I normally pay), but got some good stuff that I know will sell. And yesterday, I went to an estate sale where EVERYTHING on the property was for sale, and cheap! It was one of those where you just have to dig through everything and it was pretty stinky and dirty, but I found some treasures. I never usually buy things like cameras, but tossed one in my box there and it looks like the lens could be worth $400+. I also got some vintage magazines (most from the 40s to 60s, but some as old as 1913). They are in kind of rough shape, so I’m trying to decide if I should just cut out the cool ads and sell those. Hmmm…
Time to listen and list!
03/17/2017 at 12:34 am in reply to: What Sells On ebay: Casio keyboard, Vintage Desk lamp, Gnomes, Hat stretcher, Bed tray, Bumper sticker. #14712A few faves from last week:
Western Fabric – This was my biggest sale last week. I don’t even remember where I got this, but I’m sure I paid $5 or less for it. Happily accepted an offer of $150.
Defective Levi’s Selvedge Denim Jeans – These were a surprise in the bottom of a big box of fabric that I bought for $5. The leg seams are VERY twisted and I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting them. But I listed them since they are older Levi’s and they sold right away for $55, then returned as size not as described (although I suspect it was because of the twisted legs, even though it was clear in the listing). I listed them again anyway and they sold again right away, this time for $60 and I received positive feedback! Levi’s are my new favorite thing to look for.
Twin Peaks Soundtrack Album Flat – Chipping away at my stash of these. This one sold for $50 and I paid around 5 cents for it. But I goofed on this one. It was damaged in shipping and the buyer said it was the fault of USPS. I asked if they had filed a claim and said I could send him another, but I would need photos so I could file a claim. He sent them, and I filed the claim, but now I guess I have to pay to ship it to him and hope my claim gets paid? I should have kept my mouth shut and told him to file the claim. Advice? I haven’t sent one out yet or heard back from USPS. Not sure how long that usually takes.
Store Week 3/5/17 – 3/11/17
Total items in store: 1163
Items sold: 31
Cost of items sold: $30.15
Total sales: $919.60 (best week ever!)
Highest price sold: $150 (9 yards of cowboy/western print fabric)
Average price sold: $29.66
International Sales: 0
Returns: 0 (But I did have 1 cancelled and 2 unpaid)
Money spent on new inventory this week: $15.01Awesome week! Sunday was nuts. 10 sales and over $400. Then it kind of petered out as the week went on with lots of little sales. But they add up, so I’ll take it! The down side is that it was like pulling teeth getting people to pay up this week. I still have 2 unpaid ($85 that I didn’t count in my sales), and several that were really slow to pay. Weird how they come all at once.
Sold two tam o’shanters this week. Thanks for the tip, guys! Looking forward to listening!
03/07/2017 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 300: Our 300th Episode!! Now let’s talk taxes… #14026I sold my first Tam O’ Shanter thanks to J & R this week too! I had never seen one at a sale until a few weeks ago when I found 13 at a sale and cleaned them out!
03/05/2017 at 8:11 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 300: Our 300th Episode!! Now let’s talk taxes… #13849Congrats and thanks for everything! I’ve listened to them all!
