Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ve shipped there before, so it must just be this item.
Okay, thanks. I think I’ll pass then. I know it will sell, but it might take a while so I was considering it. I’ll wait and it will make my life easier!

Vintage Shirt – I think I paid around $3 at the thrift store, and took an offer of $75 for it.

Original 1997 Movie Poster – This was in the giant poster collection I bought several years ago. It was probably about 5 cents and sold for $80!

Radiohead Promo Sticker – This was in the same collection as the poster above, so it was also about 5 cents. Sold for $25.

Vintage Cashmere Bouquet Mini Soaps – I bought a box of mini soaps for $4, and this was one lot from it. They sold for $29.99.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $48.46A bit busier last week with a nice average price sold. I’ve now sold 2 items for a total of about $125 out of the big closets full of men’s clothes that I purchased for $46. I keep reminding myself of that as I wade through the piles yet to be listed!
06/07/2018 at 11:07 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Vintage combs, Souvenir batting helmets, Soldering gun, Wind up car, Tilley Airflo hat, Pinup matchbook collection #41901Here are a few from last week.
Rockabilly Style Bowling Shirt – Purchased at the Goodwill Outlet for under $1 and sold for $100 after much negotiation with a buyer who I’m pretty sure was trying to trick me into a lower price. I stood my ground and it worked.

Vintage Nikes – As I was researching these, I couldn’t find anything like them so I posted a question on a sneaker forum. Someone knew just what they were and said they sell for about $50 max. I gave it a go anyway and they sold for $110 after a long wait. I probably paid a couple bucks for them.

Vintage Halloween Die-Cut decoration – Bought at auction in a big box of similar items which have sold well. I think this worked out to $3-4 and sold for $45.

Filson Vest – I paid up for this at a yard sale ($20), but it was in perfect condition and I knew it would sell. I love Filson everything. Sold for $105.

I couldn’t remember if anyone had mentioned it or not. So great!
Cool stuff!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $51.00A very “soft” week again. Like you, I’m grateful for a few decent sales that helped keep my head above water. 3 sales of $100+ saved me. I’m still making my way through tons of men’s clothes, and listing lots of heavy shirts, hunting stuff, etc, so hopefully that will help a lot in the fall. Also, I FINALLY hit 1700 listings. I hit 1600 in October and it has taken me this long to gain another 100!

This is the hat that was causing me grief due to it selling a couple times without being paid for. But I guess it was worth it since it finally sold for $99! I probably paid 50 cents for it.

Hat covered with Car Show Buttons – Paid $1 at an estate sale and it sold for $50.

This hat was too good to pass up. Paid around 25 cents and it sold for $20
05/28/2018 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 362: Scavengers Are Always Prepared To Clean Out A Basement #41152Oh, good idea. I’ve never required that, so I kind of forgot it was an option. Guess I’ll start doing that on hats!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $48.18I posted a question several weeks ago, asking what others do when they get tons of offers at once on an item they just listed. I took their advice and just sat on it for a bit, and sure enough it sold for full price the same day. They didn’t pay. When I relisted it, I tried it on auction since there was so much interest and it sold for about $2 higher. They didn’t pay either. So as I continued getting lots of offers, I was carefully combing through each person’s feedback and found that many appeared to have “fake” feedback and/or very similar usernames to people I had turned down. Most of these people’s feedback was very generic and most of the buyers had feedback from many of the same sellers. I was getting irritated and just turning most of them down. But then one person who looked super fishy offered $99 (asking price was $110), and I accepted. Worth a shot, I guess. Then after several days they paid! I’ve never been so happy to just be rid of something! Has anyone else noticed this problem with feedback that looks to have been bought? It seems like many of these unpaid items are trucker hats. I’m not sure what they are getting out of buying all these things and not paying. Once I had the same person buy the same hat 3 times under 3 usernames and not pay!
In other news, I went to an auction last weekend and bought a walk in closet and another full size closet FULL of men’s clothing! It’s taking forever to sort and wash it all (it’s kinda smelly), but there was some great stuff in there that will definitely make it worthwhile. Lots of wool. 2 blankets as well as Pendleton, Filson, Woolrich, and other nice stuff. The big closet was $7 and my total for everything was $46. Not bad!
I haven’t listened yet, but will do that tonight while I list …if the children let me. 🙂
05/10/2018 at 8:27 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: 110 camera film, Car parts, Stereo stuff, US Marshal patch, new Brother laser printer, Akai reel to reel #39645A few of my favorites from last week:
Vintage Australia Ski Sweater – Picked this up at an estate sale for $1 and sold for $50.

Awesome Celluloid Devil Pin – I love this thing! It winks and blinks as you move it, and it’s obviously pretty old. I found it with a bunch of cheap jewelry at an estate sale and got it for 25 cents. It sold quickly for $49.99, and I wish I’d priced it higher!

Sami Laplander Reindeer Fur Shoes – Paid $1 for these at a yard sale a long time ago, and took a $100 offer on them. What’s really funny is that I bought another pair of Sami reindeer shoes the same day these sold. Ha! Gotta keep those shelves stocked!

Small Quimper Dish – Never in a million years would I have ever bought this without Scavenger life! This little bowl looks pretty much like a kid made it and I think I only noticed it because it was 75% off at an estate sale so I was really digging for treasures. I always look for Quimper after hearing about your big score, and this is the first I’ve found. I paid 50 cents and it sold quickly with a $70 best offer!

Store Week 4/29/18 – 5/5/18
Total items in store: 1654
Items sold: 16
Cost of items sold: $14.93
Total sales: $628.91

Money spent on new inventory this week: $314.75I’ve been out of the loop and not posting for a while, but I thought I’d better get my act together and share my numbers to keep myself accountable and on track! Things have been pretty quiet, but this week was okay and I’ve had a couple of great scavenging weekends. It was funny to hear you say last week that you never see Pendleton anymore. I’m finding it everywhere the last few weeks and loving it! I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but it sounds interesting. I’ve been battling with INAD lately, and I’m almost afraid to listen!
04/09/2018 at 10:45 pm in reply to: What advice or guidelines do you have for using the best offer option? #37468And actually, I think the guy that bought it was one of those who made an offer. I guess he got nervous when I hadn’t replied. Now I just hope he pays up!
04/09/2018 at 10:43 pm in reply to: What advice or guidelines do you have for using the best offer option? #37467Right. I don’t think they can tell if there are offers. Sometimes I consider telling someone when there are competing offers, but I figure that just sounds like a scam (even though it’s not).
