Money spent on new inventory this week: $1.50I hardly ever buy retail arbitrage stuff, but I recently bought a few Lego advent calendars that were on a screaming deal. They are about $35 at Wal-Mart and I got them elsewhere for $18.88 each. Not even close to the profit margins that I’m used to, but it looks like these ones sell on eBay for $40-$50. Should be an easy flip. And I have an appreciation for all things Lego since my son is totally obsessed!
It doesn’t matter when they were made, which I thought was weird, but I guess it’s probably the same with ivory, etc. Listing them as just fur is a good plan!
WOW! Good for you!
I’ve also had a few of my listings disappear. I had some Sami Laplander seal skin boots listed. They had a lot of interest at first and then after a while I happened to think of them and wondered why nobody had inquired or purchased them yet. I went to look and both pair were gone. I investigated and realized that selling anything made from a marine animal is apparently prohibited, so maybe that’s why. But eBay let me list it just fine and I never got any notification that it was pulled, where I have received this notice on other items before. Now what the heck am I supposed to do with these awesome boots?! I originally thought they were reindeer and someone messaged me that they themselves were Sami and that these were seal skin, so I changed it. Maybe I’ll try reindeer again! Haha.
Oh, that’s a good idea. I really didn’t want to set up another account, but I want to be sure to keep it all straight.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $2.87I have a family member who is in charge of her grandparents’ estate, and she asked me to list some things on eBay for her. I normally don’t do this, but I’d like to help them out and I think they probably have some really nice stuff (although I haven’t seen it yet). We were thinking about starting a new eBay account, just for the estate (so it won’t mess with my taxes and stuff), but do you think this will make it harder to sell? I have an established store with great feedback and would be starting from zero. Thoughts? They also have a lot of valuable cars and car parts (Model T, etc.), that we definitely don’t know about, so those would probably be better at an estate auction or to local buyers. She does have someone who can identify all the parts, but he is very emotionally invested, so that could be difficult.
Looking forward to listening while I list today!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $40.00It was a pretty decent week that ended up much better than I thought. And I had one cool sale the prior week that I forgot to mention. It went to a former Secretary of the Treasury! I just love eBay!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $35.00I sold an item last week to someone local, and they wanted to pick it up, which was no problem for me. I’ve been adding local pickup to all my new listings lately, and after he requested it, I decided to go ahead and add it to all of my listings. I went to the bulk editor and selected the first page of 200 items. Under shipping options, I selected the option to add a shipping method and checked local pickup. Once I saved it, I checked a listing to make sure it was showing. It did show up, but my other shipping methods didn’t. It had REPLACED the shipping methods on all 200 listings. Ugh. I called eBay to see where I went wrong and they said I had done it right and it must be a glitch so they reported it and I had to redo the shipping on those items. I just thought I’d bring it up so nobody else has the same problem. And I’ve learned my lesson. Next time I’ll try 2 or 3 listings first!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $35.75My favorite sale for the week was a Halloween costume I made for my daughter when she was a baby. It was by no mean professional (lots of glue gun going on), but very cute and special to me, so I’m happy that it’s getting reused! I’ve had some offers on my son’s cutest homemade costume too, but I keep countering. I guess I’m not ready to be rid of that one yet! Another cool sale was some vintage Christmas tinsel icicles (the lead ones) for $19.99. Trash into treasure for sure!

Money spent on new inventory this week: $53.25As usual, my “trouble” sales are all happening at once. A few unpaid items, 2 canceled orders, and a return started. Sheesh! But it was a good week regardless. They don’t get to me like they did a while back …guess I’m growing as a scavenger!
I sold some waxed paper Coke cups (1980s or 90s?) to an LA set designer , so that was cool. A weird thing to buy, but I knew that someone wanted them! (And they only took a week or so to sell!)

Money spent on new inventory this week: $18.37This was my best week in a long time. Happy to be selling lots more $40-$50+ items, rather than the $15 sales I’ve had so many of lately. I can definitely feel it getting busier.
I love hearing about your travels – please keep it up and share some pics!
Yep, that’s the one. Thanks!
There’s one other vehicle/machine marked ZIG 6, but no date or markings. It’s pretty rough, but totally cool. It also has a space/planets design on the inside.
09/04/2017 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22526I didn’t get quite that ambitious, but did make several loaves, one of which is going to our awesome mail carrier for always happily dealing with my packages.

Money spent on new inventory this week: $20.00I sold several items this week right after listing, including the Halloween decoration. I think you may have mentioned these on the podcast sometime way back, but for anyone who doesn’t know, these are great sellers! The older the better, especially the ones marked Biestle. This one didn’t seem too old (maybe 70s?), and didn’t have a brand on it, but still sold quickly for $50. And it went to an LA production designer, so that was fun. I’m hoping to see my little witch on the big screen someday!
Making and stuffing the freezer with zucchini bread this morning. Then I will listen and get to work! I did look at the listing for your rental already and it is GORGEOUS! I want to live there! Excellent work, excellent taste!
