Highlights from Last week:
Grain Growers hat – I find a lot of these in my area, and they always sell.
I got this one from my husband’s grandpa who worked there. Sold for $39.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/332445191742Leather Biker Hat – This one was free too in a pile at a junky yard sale. Sold for $79.99.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/232487247664Vintage Victorian Valentine – I bought a box of these, and they have sold pretty quickly. I think they worked out to about 84 cents each. Sold for $39.99

I really liked the Victorian Valentine.
I could see why that would sell quickly. Especially when some people pay $5+ for just a Hallmark card. For a little more, they can get a pretty neat piece of history.

I’ve been saving my 8mm film for a large lot listing like you. So far I have about as much as you did before your sale. But like you said, sitting down and going through and making sure they’re not damaged is time consuming.
I had a pretty good week of sales. Here are some of the more interesting ones…I love selling machinist chests. This is the third one I’ve sold in the past few months. I can usually get them for cheap at auctions. This one I only paid $3 for. It was in pretty rough condition when I got it. It was used as a jewelry box by the previous owner. But I took a couple hours and cleaned it up, applied some mineral oil and wood wax and re-lined then drawers with new felt. It looked awesome when I was done. It sold in a day after listing it for full price of $170.
Wood Machinist ChestHere’s my biggest sale of the week, as well as the largest things I’ve ever had to pack so far. I acquired this Plycraft Mid Century Modern Orange Padded Chair at an auction for $35. I thought I paid too much for it but I just got caught up in the bidding. It needed some restoration work done on it and I listed the exact condition with pick-up only. After a few months with little interest, I received a message from a guy in Germany very interested in the chair. After lots of back and forth with him, I was able to get the thing disassembled and into a box small enough to ship internationally. I took his best offer of $230. It’s currently sitting in customs hell at the moment. Hopefully he’s satisfied when he finally gets it.
Plycraft Mid Century Modern ChairHere’s a fun little sale. I got this Space Invaders arcade parts and operating manual in a box of stuff from an estate sale. I only have maybe a dollar into it. There were a bunch listed on eBay already for cheap, but you could tell that they were just scanned printouts. I made sure to mention in my listing that mine was 100% original and not a reproduction like others people were selling. Lol. It sold in about a month for $20.
Space Invaders Arcade ManualHave you ever almost left something from a table lot but decided to keep it at the last minute only to find out it’s worth more than you thought? That happened to me with this glass torchiere lamp shade. It was kind of dirty and ugly, but I thought what the hell, I’ll yardsale it if anything. After I cleaned it up, I did some research and it was apparently quite old and valuable. I listed it for high and took a best offer of $125. I only paid a few bucks for the whole table lot.

Your research and clean up on the chair paid off nicely, I’m sure someone will be quite happy once they get it.
Big items that are tough to ship usually pay off big. -

I really enjoyed having it and using it as my “clothes chair” while it was waiting to sell.

Here’s a few of my recent sales.
I bought for 75 cents, an opened box 3/4 full of laundry detergent. Over time, I used the detergent and recently sold the empty box for $16.95 plus shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ivory-Snow-Laundry-Detergent-Box-Giant-Size-32oz-2-LB-EMPTY-Mom-Baby/132451893091?hash=item1ed6bf7f63:g:nIAAAOSwNchaRwZL
Another vintage book from a large lot I purchase a while back. Sold for $49.99 plus shipping to a buyer in Norway. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mahler-by-Henry-Louis-de-La-Grange-1973-First-Edition-1st-Vintage-Hardcover-DJ/132445238975?hash=item1ed659f6bf:g:-n8AAOSwc2FaP0Mx
I went to a last minute estate sale. Sheriff was scheduled to come in the morning and evict them. Bought this box full of gold plate flatware for $10. I sold the empty for for $25.95 plus shipping. The 12 piece set has been broken up into numerous listings and is currently listed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wallace-Walnut-Silverware-Flatware-Chest-Box-Extra-Large-16-Settings-Brown/142666533565?hash=item2137968abd:g:xHYAAOSwY7taZ~65
Paid $1 at a rummage sale for 600 NOS Rolodex cards. They sold quickly for $32.50 plus shipping. I probably should have asked more, but hey.. sold is sold. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Rolodex-600-Blank-Rotary-Refill-File-Cards-3-x-5-C35-White-Lot-Sealed/142681160580?hash=item213875bb84:g:438AAOSwGHJaeKRo
Thanks All..

Keep waiting to find more Rolodex cards out thrifting myself. I don’t want to pay eBay prices.
I have 4 full round ones on my desk at work at the moment – all the Millenials think my system is crazy, but when they need to fax something to someone older then me who can’t figure out email, they come crawling to the Rolodexes.

My interesting sales last week:
I find boys suits sell very well. I paid less than $1 for this size 14 Calvin Klein suit, sold for $25:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183033276292My mother-in-law moved a year or two ago, and she got rid of some stuff. Initially, I wanted to throw these milk crates out, but realized that they are for holding records. The two sold for $45.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183028663580I follow Jay & Ryanne’s store and noticed that they recently sold a brass door knocker for a pretty nice price (I forget the exact amount). I felt that the one I had was a bit bigger & fancier, so I priced it higher at $59. Sold in less than a week. Thanks!

Sharyn,
That makes sense that the boys suits sell well. What parent wants to pay a couple hundred dollars for a suit that their boy may wear once or twice? By the time they go to wear it again, they have grown and the suit is too small.
So, I will put this on my BOLO, but I don’t remember seeing very many. I have access to a lot of mens suits, but I find you have to have the cream of the crop to make it worth it. So I look only look for the best in Mens suits. I found a near perfect Mens Polo Ralph Lauren Suit from the 1960’s and put a high price on it. It is getting a lot of interest because I can see all the hits on it in my “Performance -> Traffic”

I have to buy my son a new suit almost every year. He is quite skinny, so I have to buy a slim size and usually can’t find anything at the thrifts. I could try Ebay, but he needs to be able to try it on in person. However, I sell the old one on Ebay and make back some of the money.
This particular suit I was lucky to find at a rummage sale. I found some men’s jackets & suits at that same rummage sale, but they haven’t sold yet. Boy’s suits definitely sell faster!
