Update on the painting- its on the way to Skinner now and should be in their hands by tuesday.
I had it professionally packed, insured (for 15k) and shipped for just under 3oo UPS. It was explained to me that UPS is much tighter and has better tracking and security for high value items vs. FedEx.
I heard back from Skinner relatively quickly as well. Hoping they will put eyes on the piece this week and give me an updated estimate. when I was transporting it to the shipper I saw a lot of dirt and grime on the surface as well as a few small chips. It will be interesting to see what they say. My mind is replaying all the antique roadshow speeches about restoration and condition…

sallyThanks Amatino, sounds like a typical painting project. No shortcuts and lots of time and patience required…Gonna have to wait till the fall when I can dedicate a full week. We just keep chipping away at it. I already replaced a small countertop with leftover 70 year old reclaimed oak flooring to make a butcher block counter scavenger style.
Last summer I painted a shiplap floor in the baby room a barn red porch paint and its holding up nicely. It would be so cool to paint this kitchen floor a concrete grey color- Thanks for the link 🙂The first package I received from an ebay seller was a vintage fisher price toy bus. It was wrapped in big bubble wrap then rolled in craft paper. It looked terrible and I thought, huh this is ebay shipping. a very low bar indeed.
So I’ve never covered amazon tape / logos etc. I take my green sharpie and circle the recycle emblem, then take the black sharpie to any other addresses, barcodes etc. then I seal it up with whatever color ebay tape is around. Not pretty, but I’ve never had a complaint from the mailman or a customer in my entire 1 year career of reselling 😉

Ebay is a fickle mistress I’ve concluded, sometimes responding like crazy to my attention (listing), and at other times no matter how hard I try… no love at all…
Makes me wanna two time ebay for etsy and crosslist. I’m on a mac so finding a viable cross listing tool is not working out. I may have to cheat on apple too. hehe-Hi Tony #believeit – you worked hard and congrats on having a good month! Ya gotta make hay while the sun shines . January and Feb we barely made our goal. And March we made almost double our goal $.

Fees are under 100 dollars Jay. There was also mention of a 1 1/2% for insurance. I don’t know the details of what figure that represents yet either.
What if it doesn’t sell? I’m not making a contingency plan for a pass on this lot yet. My gut tells me it’s going to sell.
Once the in person inspection takes place there will be a better sense of value, interest and options to evaluate. Give me a couple weeks for the shipment to arrive (safely), inspection, etc. and I will have some real answers for curious scavenger minds…
try shutting it off. I bet ebay will auto collect. Thats what I did.

I met with my accountant here in the upper left (WA). She said wa state dept of revenue has been sending letters/tax bills to consumers who bought online last year in our state. Surprisingly with as much Amazon stuff mrs. big sally buys we’ve not got this letter. The accountant has advised folks, don’t pay it, due to some technical reason far above my pay grade. But our state is BIG on taxing everything-
Ebay is taking the tax for my washington sales now and remitting it directly. Which happens to be a lot this month as I scored some awesome vintage Rainier Beer Posters $$ 🙂

Bad for him, great video on how not to dumpster dive. He entered a fenced/ gated area. And he filmed his own confession! It might not hold up to a jury but there was certainly enough to book him, and impound his minivan and car seat… Hopefully there was not a real emergency that was impacted by the whole shenanigan. There are so many legit opportunities, why bother.

firefighters are big collectors. Maybe the symbol is a fireman at the top of a ladder? You may have already, may be worth it to advertise / keyword them as vintage firefighter fire mans dress uniform fire mans ball etc. different fire companies have different symbols/mascots ie black cats dice ladders top hats.
