Great Video Steve! All the items you sold this week are exactly what I’d like to sell in my store. Very cool stuff! I’m a SCOUT lover but the Bronco is the next popular resto mod out here these days, good score on that grill!
Winchester Loved the denim lesson, I’ve got to keep my eyes peeled for some of that π
AtomicStar you are hardcore sleeping in your car! I love it!
Hi Guys
“although itβs not clear why this apparently completely obscure painting by Marsh would have been copied and offered by the library.”
“(and there does seem to be instances of Marsh being published in collotype back in the 1940s)”
This is what keeps sticking in my mind. And I know I am a little OCD when I get something stuck in my mind…But where in the hell is the original? In researching the Marsh documents via the Smithsonian online I didn’t find any records of it. I did find other works selling in that period for upwards of 3k so the 750.00 price noted in the brochure may be a clue that it was a collograph all along and mislabeled by the library?
Still waiting to hear back from Skinner on return shipping…
Thanks everyone, I appreciate you…
Christine, maybe reach out to them again- just to confirm their reply didn’t get lost in cyber space. that is what happened to their initial response to me.
Jay I Don’t think it will be more than 50-100 bucks to ship it back without insurance- repacked in its original 10lb package? Tomorrow I’m reaching out to my shipper to see if he can email them a label. I will let you know the path home.
Collotype does sound cool. Do you think someone took a picture of the original to make this? Is that how it works?
Zonk!
Fake Marsh Painting coming back from Skinner Auctions-
LOL yep here is what they said.
“We have inspected the work, and unfortunately it is not a watercolor or tempera. It is a high-quality collotype reproduction. I am terribly sorry. As such it has no real commercial value.”
I had at least 2 mortgage payment dreamt up already from the profits, was sitting on easy street and got backed over by a bus. LOL
Once its back I will be all in at approx. 400.00
I would guess I could sell it on ebay eventually to recoup the cost. Anybody want to estimate a BIN price?
But I do like it and am planning to hang it in our rental. No regrets and I learned a lot. And now I’m going to learn how to clean it?Thought I’d share this sad story of not finding a treasure in the wild.
best,notsoBigSally .
Hops are hip, beer is proof that the universe loves us and wants us to be happy. And it sells!
Et al.
Slobby’s World on Netflix is a fun reselling show to watch- Especially if you like 70’s 80’s and 90’s stuff.
episode 10 they pick a warehouse in LA that sells vintage clothing in bulk. This warehouse sorts through the tonnage you refer to above and gets the gold nuggets…I’m guessing they were VIPs for TV and random scavengers like me wouldn’t be on the guest list. But it looks like a very interesting business operation. He is a very cute Bully!
@ HistoryNerd- I’ve been daydreaming about doing something similar in a particular niche that might interest you since your from the PNW-
I recently bought a lot of Rainier Beer posters from a local auction. The ebay prices are all over the place. I sold several for over 50 and a few for 80 and 90. I have several others listed in the 100-300 range.
There are a total of 40 Rainier Beer posters on ebay. 10 are mine, 20 are not interesting to a collector the other 10 posters are between 20-60 dollars-
There are the same number of sold listings 40-Theoretically, If I bought those 10 desirable posters, and relisted them for 100 each, would I be able to corner the market and increase the collectable value of these posters?
Keep your eyes peeled for that elusive wild R…

I was laughing when Y’all talked about street scavenging in Seattle…oh boy…can you resell used needles, poop and broken tent poles? Were you at the convention center or in the ‘burbs’? Downtown is rougher than ever. If you’ve not seen the documentary “Seattle is Dying’ check it out, spot on. Sadly.Update… SOLD !
Prices were all over the place so I listed at 299.00 best offer- got an offer right away for 190.00 countered at 285 and danced for 3 days with the buyer- They finally triggered my 260.00 auto accept price Friday. I paid 30 for the piece. Wouldn’t it be great to get a couple of those a week? dreaming out loud…
I.P. thank you for your help on this one!
Best
sallyHi Mike,
I was just thinking about how your real estate adventure was going, thanks for the update! It seems you made some good money on the deal, and have more in the pipeline for the future.Nice job!
Time to enjoy your art, I’d like an update on that…;)Just a quick Update…The Marsh Painting has arrived at Skinner. No condition report or any other info yet. Standing by to standby. π
Yes (NOT) incompetent picker thats it! Thank you! I looked at other signatures and glass works by Anatra its a match. Time to work on the listing and try to get some pictures without glare? Thanks a bunch – prices are all over , I’m thinking about 300 to start? I will let you know how it goes- thanks again,
sallyI had literally over 300 shipping policies I had to clean up. I now have them consolidated into about 8 policies now. this is for a 275 item store – I think I can pair that down to 5 or 6. But it is confusing and clunky to me for sure. Good luck.
So Cal Joe I have a single policy that has multiple shipping methods- buyers choice -parcel select, priority or fed ex. -
