Amazing, that article was written in October 2017.
It looks like Smartpost is not such a smart idea anymore. Most packages 7 X 7 x 7 or smaller should fit in a USPS Flat Rate padded envelope or a USPS medium flat rate box.
How long depends on you and how long it takes you to do research.
It will be an incredible grind. You will end up donating or discarding probably half of them, or more. Many will be long tail items.
Do you like old books? Do you have the room to store them?
If you’re willing to put in the time and deal with the learning curve, there’s money in them. If you find old dusty books boring and cumbersome, you should list the ones you already have and pass on the rest.
Good Luck

I couldn’t agree more. College is not for everyone. It should be available to those that truly desire to go, but it shouldn’t to be pushed on society as a whole.
Back when I was a student, it was actually still possible to work your way through college. State Universities were reasonably priced and graduating college without loans, was very possible.
Nowadays, it is just the opposite. You’d better have a good reason to go and you’d better graduate too. The college loan companies have been given the greatest latitude is collecting the loans from Congress. About the only way to get out from under them, short of repayment, is to die. It wouldn’t be so bad, except the schools have taken advantage of the situation and raised tuition rates astronomically.
We have truly done a disservice to the generations of students who have been burdened by this debt.
I would encourage anyone looking to go to college to research research research. Find whatever grants or scholarships are available. Seriously consider going to a Junior college for the first two years. Many of them have agreements with four years universities to accept transfer credits. Then find a good in state college with reasonable tuition.
Keep the loans to a minimum and pay them off quickly.
I think the real issue is going to be search rankings. If we don’t offer free returns, how will it effect search rankings.
I agree Block him. If he willing to pull this stuff now, a return hassle is not out of the question.
Now they’re back with some.. weird.
Yes, I see that . That was a good score..
Wow.. No items in stock..

1- USPS First Class Mail and USPS Priority Calculated. (This one should be your default)
2- Priority Mail Calculated and Smartpost (or Parcel Select)
3- USPS Media Mail and USPS Priority Calculated.
4- USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelope.
5- Fedex Ground and USPS Priority Calculated.
6- Free Shipping Expedited (USPS Priority Mail)
7- Free Shipping Economy (First Class, Media Mail, SmartPost etc.)
8- Free Local Pickup. (Optional)Of course you can add more or change these as you see fit. Handling charges will complicate matters somewhat. Make sure the one with USPS First Class is your default.
Once these have been set up listing will become quicker as will editing.
I’d also recommend that all your new listings include a store category. You’ll probably have to go in and create a bunch, even if they are no listings in them yet. As time goes by, you can edit the old listings and put them in individual categories. This isn’t to drive sales, but to enable you to edit your items quicker.
Good Luck.
If the USPS Dim weights are the issue, then it should only affect packages less then oversize (12 X 12 X 12) etc. It affected a much smaller package for me and I suspect for others. What’s really weird is that it doesn’t seem to be affecting everyone.
Maybe USPS and/or Fedex are trying to phase it out as you suggest. It’s not an expedited service, but it looks like there are accountability issues regarding delivery times and probably damage claims as well. So much for partnerships.
I’m tempted to turn it back on anyways, as I think my sales are suffering.
Eventually it will get sorted out.. or phased out.
Last week I put up 4 junk drawer lots on auction with no interest. I’ll run them again and see what happens, but I’m not very optimistic.
I bought some packing tape… Nice.
Lately there’s so much FREE stuff out there it’s crazy. Time to list and storage are things i worry about much more than the cost of inventory.
For the most part I agree with the books you’ve been listing. I think it was worth the effort to get them.
You have a different style to your listings, than I do. I try to put all the pertinent information in the title and the condition report. I don’t trust people to take the initiative to read the description.
Your listings are different, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong. You are getting your share of sales, so who’s to say what is best. In the end the sales tell the story.
Good luck with the rest of them.
By the way.. nice sale on the boots..
That looks like a good one.
How come only four pictures?
