I go to Food 4 Less (Kroger) on a regular basis to specifically look for mark downed bread. The bread clearance rack is in the far left corner of the store (far away from the bread) and is hit or miss but mostly good. The basic stuff can be as low as 69 cents a loaf, but they’ve also got the fancy bread generally for lass than $2 a loaf. Sometimes there are lots and lots of loafs from all categories.
Last week I also scored a couple 6Lb 12oz cans of Pinto beans for $3 each.
My favorite way to beat inflation is to Be Cheap.
The size is not an issue. The package is like 13 X 5 X 5 inches which is relatively small.
Maybe the shipping page was not working well that day. Could have been one of those famous glitches.
I figured out how to keep the package under 15 ounces now, so I’ll just have to be careful going forward.
Thanks for the responses.
04/24/2024 at 2:48 pm in reply to: Shipping discounts automatically applied to listings for some #102928It reminds me of the “Free Shipping” push from a few years back. At the end of the day, the shipping money has to come from somewhere.
Then again if the smaller sellers aren’t paying attention and the change is made. It’s good for Ebay’s sales revenue..

04/18/2024 at 3:27 pm in reply to: Shipping discounts automatically applied to listings for some #102884I received the same message. I have a store, but my sales are few and far between.
As soon as the change is done by Ebay on May 15, I’ll just go into settings and change it back. The Email states it can be done and even supplies a link.
Yes I tend to agree with you. None of it feels right.
My guess is that someone with access to his account (maybe a family member), sent me the lowball offer. Maybe they didn’t expect me to accept it or maybe they didn’t realize it was binding. Once I accepted it the payment was automatic.
Either way they bought the jacket.
I agree with you guys and see no benefit to responding to this guy.
Thanks
It looks like this deal isn’t over yet, even though Ebay is giving me seller protection.
The buyer sent me a message. He stated he received the item, even though he still denies ordering it. He is willing to keep the item if I refund him $20. otherwise he wants to know how to return it.
I have 30 day return policy with buyer paying return shipping.
Original price was $60. I agreed to $32 offer.
I really don’t want to even respond to him, but thought I would ask here,
Thanks for your wisdom.
Got the good news today from Ebay,
“Hi Joseph,
We’re letting you know that this dispute is eligible for eBay Seller Protection. You’re not responsible for the dispute amount and the dispute fee. We’ll close the dispute once we receive the final outcome from the buyer’s payment institution. Right now there’s nothing you need to do. Thanks for taking care of this dispute and for being a part of the eBay community.”
Looks like the problem has been solved…. Thanks everyone.
Joe
The buyer finally did respond to my initial message and denied making the purchase. It doesn’t change much for me.
I sent it the official challenge and will see what happens.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the information.
I really felt much better after speaking with the agent, especially since I hadn’t dealt with this problem before. I may end up losing the dispute. but al least I understand the process a little better.
The Ebay agent said the buyer’s account was in good standing so maybe it is just a misunderstanding. The item was sold on a best offer and they chose the cheap shipping, so it really makes no sense to me that there would be a dispute.
I believe the fee may actually be generated from the payment provider (credit card company). I just spoke to Ebay and they informed me that we can appeal the fee if we lose the case. Initially I was researching the dispute process when I came upon the fee. It took a bit of digging.
My sale was very generic and the item shipped right away.
Ok.. it appears I may have jumped the gun.
The Ebay contact chat app connected me with customer service via phone.
They seem to be in agreement with me and I’m going to challenge the dispute and forward the listing information as well as the tracking.
They also said that if I lose the dispute we can appeal the $20 fee.
When it’s all said and done I’ll post the results.
Thanks for responding Jay..
I didn’t make this clear before. I need to accept the dispute (eat the cost) or challenge it. If I do nothing It appears I will be treated the same as if I challenged it.
Boy they sure do complicate things…
The cost of the jacket was minimal, probably a few dollars. Selling price was $32 plus shipping.
I’m seeing that if I challenge the dispute and lose I can be charged a $20 fee.
” If you are found responsible for a disputed amount as per eBay policies (e.g., chargeback), we charge a $20.00 dispute fee, excluding sales tax, for each dispute.”
The dispute is decided by the buyers payment processor. It all seems a bit one sided.
Obviously, I’ve done nothing wrong but I don’t see how I can win, when a buyer says he doesn’t recognize the charge and there is another $20 at risk.
Thanks
Yes.. Thank you. Life is definitely not a “one size fits all”. I don’t have a lot of income, but I do have time. Time to exercise or read or just bum around exploring. It give me some nice options.
I haven’t done a deep dive, but from what I’ve heard the break even for waiting until 67 for social security is age 79. It gives me something to think about but that’s not for a few years anyway, so I’m not stressing over it.
I agree on the land. If you can handle the added taxes. it’s pretty cool. We don’t always buy the land for ourselves to use, but often to give us a buffer from a potential bad or noisy neighbor.
Now if I could just get people to keep their dogs from running wild, but that’s a story for another day.
