Unless it’s something really special, I wouldn’t pay more than $1 for a trucker hat. As far as which ones sell for the most, check Ebay and pay attention to the sold listings.
Good Luck..
Well, here’s the deal. “The Shipping uploaded and verified statistic” needs to be 90% or greater. This statistic generally is in a floating mode as it goes up when a sale is made and then corrects after the package scan is verified.
Evidently, as long as the package is delivered on time, it is not an issue. In other words I didn’t get penalized for all the late scans. My verified on time scanning number is back over 99%, even though there are late scans.
Evidently Ebay is paying attention…
Thanks again for the responses.
I haven’t been to my local auction in over a month, Every Sunday at auction time, I look at the piles of stuff in the living room and just won’t go… Something has to change.
So.. I’m in the process of converting my spare bedroom to my listing office. This is where I will do listing only. The room I freed up in the garage is going to become yet more shelf space. Today I’m going to home depot to buy wood to build a freestanding 6′ by 3′ freestanding shelving unit which should hold 12 size able bins.
The garage will be for shipping and storage only now.
This will allow me to move attack the death piles and go on a “List it” or “Donate Purge”. I have so much room here to run my business.. I just need be be better organized.
I have about 1450 items listed now. I really need 4000 to hit my goals.
Interesting post. I have to agree that if you pay for Priority mail, you should get Priority Mail. I agree that it is unethical to pull a bait and switch regarding the postage. If you want to get more money for the item you should increase the sales price.
That being said, when these situations come up, If there was no harm done, or significant delays, I try to be forgiving and to educate the seller. I would have sent him a message indicating the error of his ways with no specific demands. If he offered a refund fine, otherwise move on and leave no feedback whatsoever.
In the past I’ve received items that were packed horribly. On one the vintage packaging was damaged and luckily nothing happened to the other one. I sent both of them friendly notes. The one who apologized and appreciated my advice got positive feedback.
Life is too short to get into battles with people who don’t have the integrity to take responsibility for their actions.

So Cal Joe.
I go in and look at listings that are fairly old that are going to end soon. I then end the listing and sell similar. I change the price, sometimes only by a penny. This seems to help as I believe these are considered new listings.
I put a 7 X 5 X 4 inch Box in a flat rate padded envelope and ship that way. I haven’t had any issues at all. No breakage.
Thanks.. I will post it either way.
It’s not the late shipments statistic that I’m concerned with, It’s the shipping uploaded and verified statistic which need to be 90% or more. My numbers are very good.
Of the 12 packages picked up in question, 7 received some type of a scan the same day. The other 5 were scanned after the pickup day.
The Post Office is about 1/2 mile away (I walk there). The problem is that I have shipments almost every day and to go there every day and get in line for an acceptance scan is an imposition. I don’t mind going every once in a while, but there is almost always a line.
This Post Office is not the one that handles my deliveries.
I freely admit that I’m over the top when it comes to this stuff and the advice to ignore it and just list is very sound.
I’m curious to see if it will affect my numbers or not.
Thanks for all the responses.
JOE
Last year when I was looking for boxes, I came across two vintage metal patio chairs in the dumpster. I planned on fixing them up for sale and finally just listed them… $60 to a very happy local pickup. He was glad I didn’t work on them, because he planned on painting them.
It a very special sale when you’ve paid absolutely nothing for something.
If I remember correctly, you need to have at least 10.6 on you machine to be able to upgrade to Maverick. My machine is 10.58 which leaves me high and dry..
Oh well.. at least I can buy a PC for $200…
I’d love to hear how it works out if you do the upgrade.
Thanks for the response.
My Macbook has OSX 10.58. At this point I can browse on Firefox only on a limited basis. My Itunes account is still on it.
To my knowledge I’m not able to upgrade the software. Then I read somewhere that I can do it with a 10.6 DVD. The computer was purchased back in about 2008 and I’ve never had any issues with it.
I’m not really a computer guy and really do not want to lose the contents of my Itunes account.
Can I and should I upgrade the software? or Should I just focus on moving my Itunes account to my PC and moving on.
Thanks.
12/27/2016 at 10:21 pm in reply to: Customer Request Express Shipping After Paying For Parcel Select #8944I don’t offer Parcel Select on any of my listings.
If it weighs more than a pound, my options are generally FEDEX Smart Post and Priority Mail.
Bummer…
I agree with Jay and Ryanne. I won’t meet with people unless a purchase has been made.
Recently I did make an exception to the rule. I had an item and I wasn’t 100% sure on the year of the car that it fit. A potential buyer really wanted it and we agreed to meet to see if it would fit his car. Since it did, we made a cash deal on the spot.
I then asked him to make the official purchase on Ebay, later when he got home. He did and I marked it paid and shipped.
Old Shipping Containers are pretty weather resistant and plentiful around here. I can’t imagine putting one on my property, but I imagine if you lived in the country it might be an option.
