I was at a church rummage sale and found a small older photo album with some pictures of a woman in her late 40’s to early 50’s. On the last page, the pictures were of her topless.
I picked it up and presented it to one of the men assisting with the sale, who was very grateful that I did.
Later that day I bought the Autobiography of Richard Nixon for $2. Inside I found something nice, his signature.
Maybe it was Karma.. or maybe I was just lucky that day.
I recently ran into a similar problem. My Inkjet ran out of ink and my backup cartridge was defective. I refused to go to a store and pay retail for a new cartridge.I purchased a variation of the Brother laser printer Ryanne recommends.
Due to it being on sale (Lucky for me), I bought the Brother HL-L2380. It was on sale for $99 plus tax and came with a starter toner cartridge, which is supposed to be good for about 700 copies.
I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. It only prints with black ink, which is just fine for me.
Maybe not so weird, but I have had people message me to come over and buy and check out an item so they can buy it.
My response is always the same. “Once the item is purchased, we will arrange a free local pickup. If the item is not satisfactory at that time, then a 100% refund will be issued.”
My reasons.
1. People who don’t have a commitment, (a purchase) tend to flake and not show up. Hey this isn’t Craigslist.
2. Often when they do show up, they want to haggle and make low offers.
Most people are agreeable. I’m always polite, but firm.
I’ve been buying the Sterilite 18 gallon tubs from Walmart that many have referred to. The black ones are 50 cents cheaper than any of the other colors at my store. They are $4.45 each, which keeps them under $5 when adding tax each.
I also like the Sterilte plastic drawer systems. Some are single ones that stack and others are integrated carts (I remove the wheels.) They come in a variety of sizes and are great for smaller or more delicate items. I’ve got a bunch of these for $! to $3 each scavenging.
I’ve actually had to stop buying storage. I literally don’t have room and many of my bins are empty, so I need to list list list.
Each tub is numbered, so I know where everything is.

I just got a new carrier and he doesn’t think he’s required to scan the pickups. I hope he understands my situation, otherwise I’ll have to start dropping off packages at the post office again. I put a $100 book out on Friday and it still hasn’t shown up on a scan. It’s frustrating that the carriers aren’t all trained the same way.
The Kiosks (Self Mailers) at the post office have scales you can verify weight with. I also use a digital food scale and it is dead on. I won’t pay an extra nickel of postage I don’t have to.
I believe you need to change P.O. Box to Post Office…. and then hand write the box number on the label. I haven’t done it, But that’s what I remember. Hopefully someone will confirm.
I still pack it in a box and then put the box in a flat rate padded envelope. It also adds protection, because you can put extra padding between the outside of the box and the envelope.
I started doing this due to the old 13 oz limit on First Class. If I sold more mugs, I’d think about adding the first class option.
I shipped an automotive timing light in one.
I managed to squeeze it all into the flat rate padded envelope. Otherwise, it would have been a 3 pound package.
I bet it will get real interesting when combining shipping puts items into the oversize territory.
I appreciate the comments.
I sold two items to a buyer in Australia. The shipping costs were added up and they were combined. The problem is that one is shipping in a flat rate padded envelope and the other is first class. I doubt they will both fit in the flat rate envelope.
The most efficient (cheapest) way to ship them is separately.
Can I send them in separate packages to the Global shipping center? If I ship them together, as calculated Priority, they will cost more than I was paid. I may just send them FEDEX Smart Post. After all, noone consulted me before combining them.
Have any of you had this happen?
Thanks
