440 so true.
For the big stuff craigslist and FB have been working for me. There is someone in my area with a huge inventory of smalls to large, a couple hundred items on CL. So it seems to be working. My biggest regret of a logistically heavy item came just before christmas. It replaces the logistics regret on moving my auction purchase of a 1900’s Theo Kochs Barber Chair…
I bid 30 dollars blind on a National Cash Register at a local auction, it looked like a parts register and I thought , oh that will be fun and profitable. I’m sure I will be outbid at 30.The buttons are worth 30.So I go to the auction house to preview and the size and weight dawns on me logistically and I immediately pray someone will outbid me. Nope. Its mine. But its way to nice to be parted out. It looks restorable. I do not have the time, space or strength to deal with this beast, regardless of the profits. What a dummy. Guess I’m gonna get a hernia for Christmas. How will I get out of this one?
When the auction closes I grab the Auction photos and list the item on CL,FB and Ebay local pickup. Hoping someone will buy it and I can have it loaded into the buggy at the Auction and deliver it to the new owner.
No bites or offers in the 48 hr window before scheduled pickup. On the way to pick it up I stopped at another auction house for a pick up.
The young owner had just opened a new storefront and I mentioned I had a cash register that would look great in the shop. Sure enough, he wanted it.
An hour later I had my cash investment back in my pocket and 4 silver bars in trade. I never touched the cash register – happy ending for everyone.
love it! hehehe
Hi Kyle-
I can’t answer your etsy search question. But i’ve been e-picking my local on line auctions and its working out great. In researching solds I can see how this would work well with ebay, I see a lot of low auction prices….Continued Good luck!
Ho Ho Ho
sallyJay will you do this at the live auction?
Hi Inglewood, thanks, it continues to be a labor of love. I can take no credit for the photos, left that to a professional!
400 listings would be great, maybe by 2020 ! This whole experiment is still unfolding so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out for sure. Thanks for the thumbs up!Cheers to the new year!

Or is it similar to the SCOTUS standard “you know it when you see it”?Sallytrek Log Entry #3
The Universe is infinite. The more time I spend exploring, the more opportunities appear on the horizon.
Ebay, so much to learn, I’m still such a rookie…Nearly 10 months into this journey. Almost 200 listings in my tiny store now. And top rated as of tomorrow (its a big deal for me!). Getting things inventoried and organized is not my strong suit, but I try to be better every day.
It’s the darkest of the dark winter days here in the PNW , if I did not have Ebay and Airbnb to occupy my time I would be extremely miserable and depressed (like last year) for sure. How does one put a value on that?
This year, thankfully just a handful passing gloom and doom days this month and I’m sure in January . But Dec.22 the scales tip and the days will start to get longer…Hope springs eternal…Numbers- After fees I am averaging about 1k a month income via ebay, offer up, craigslist etc. meanwhile I am reinvesting it all into ebay inventory and covering start up expenses on the vacation rental business.
The Rental is humming along, we are getting bookings and positive feedback from guests. The entire nut is been covered 2 months in a row by bookings with a little help from ebay.I was prepared to take money from our investment funds to keep this afloat through the start up months, so a welcome surprise for sure.
The ebay warehouse is on the property, so its paying rent or taking the space income wise for taxes, whichever the accountant advises.

I’m curious as to what these items are? Doesn’t sound like you have much into them , very intriguing..)12/13/2018 at 2:51 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Dart board, Hats, Models, Car parts, Original painting, Vintage Crib Mobile #53312Hey Sharyn what ever happened to the clothing lot you were trying to move / selling as a set ? U can just ff to 2 mins 40 seconds and he’s go some good info and strategy. About 5 minutes in the time allotment app of life…
Hi ChristineR
about your item being pushed down in searches, that sucks. Does it change the ranking if you end the item, sell similar, then delete the original ended listing? Or if you fiddle with the price or some other field? Discouraging news but good to know. thx
Sally ClausGreat info thanks everyone. Its live, wish me luck. We had one when i was a kid. It was fun looking at the 70’s. Fondue!
12/06/2018 at 1:16 pm in reply to: Promoted listings experiment RESULTS: Reducing all promoted listings to 1% rate #52811Interesting observation about promoted listings
Now getting full price sales on my promoted items, they all have make offer, but I’m getting full price cha ching regularly. been going on for about a week.
I am regularly fiddling with the percentages turning them on and off, going up to and regularly above trending rates on some things with high margins.
And I’m listing more, so maybe this is a combo ebay likes – i like it.

is there a local mail shop / shipping center in your town? No regret no dread, easy button. I will pay to have big, fragile and expensive things packed then email the label to the packing service, and it ships from there. Amazing and the handling fee covers the cost. I use calculated shipping and a 10-20 handling fee – or flat as you do. -
