Hi All!
Started the Konmari method on my own personal house and I expect many to do the same. The thrifts will be bursting this Spring I think.I am listing $500 / day as my goal since early December. In spite of this, a crap start to 2019 for me 🙂
This week S U C K E D across ebay, posh, and mercari.
1/1-6
items in store: 1050
Sold: 22, $623
Returns: 1 (wrong color/ customer change mind)
1 Local Facebook sale (wicker chair): $100
Mercari: 2 sales, $50
Poshmark: 2 items, $42 after fees
Depop, 1 item, $36
Grand total acrossl: $851SO, in this case I would say having the other 4 platforms did help bridge the gap this week for painful sales on ebay.
Love this and thank you. I remind myself of this as I’m trying to get to 100K available listings in 2019 and it seems painfully slow some weeks.
Thank you for the feedback. I try not to get negative, but I was super annoyed due to my major listing commitment for 21 days straight.
Let’s all hope for a better week next weekI think most of the times someone has bought my stuff and resold it they just Buy it outright and then I find out later they resold it for much more. Which is FINE by me. I just note it for next time.
But the pre-haggling is hilarious.
One woman I sold a unique garment vintage item has a huge following for this product and it’s all she sells. So, I learned a few things from that transaction although the lost profits of me mismarking it kill me.Wow ebaymom, that is some serious hacking! Nicely done.
Kyle- thank you for this tip! I have attempted some e-picks from Poshmark to resell on ebay with so-so success, no major homeruns, but usually a buy for $20 sell for $40 situation.
What goes through my mind when pillaging my inventory for lost items:
“DAMN IT, I NEED TO GET ORGANIZED. I’m doing it this WEEKEND, no excuses. NO more sourcing. Oh wait, here it is!”
<Resumes sourcing and never gets organized>
For those who don’t have room for large packing peanuts bags, I recommend 3M Scotch Packing Styrofoam Noodles (static free!). They are packed in like tetris and they sort of “explode” when you open the bag a bit by tumbling out (3X size). You can stack them up high and it saves so much room over a big “bag” of something. Great for small breakables, IMO.

I also bundled several donation bags and some items from those bags sold the day before the donation company came. I call those Death Row items.
Re: Bundles! YES. I have had not had any success with Junk Drawer lots, but I have with bundle lots. I really like selling them. I have done mens clothing which seems to do well. All same size/ brand or item (5 Hawaiian shirts XL).
Wow, Klaus! That is really neat. Where do you like to do your sourcing?
Finishing up my final reporting, how do you earmark cost of goods UNsold aka inventory in my basement? Do you factor into your annual numbers? For taxes, I know its all about them COGS but for business reporting…….?
01/02/2019 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Listing items you are completely not interested in listing #54420I have a mini- death pile right now from holiday visitors (30 items?). I had to box a bunch of “in progress” inventory hide for guests and it went to death pile status.
Slowly unpacking it all now and listing it. Hearing the CHA CHING helps.I like the idea of traveling for sales or sourcing trips – for me, traveling would mean going into rural areas, which appeals to me as I am city.
T-Statt- No, I should track that , what a good idea. I have played with the idea of doing some targeted ads on Facebook for my higher end items. I did this in my old job for the company, I just need to figure out how to do this as an personal account rather than a business. Hmmm…. more to come.
I def notice an uptick when I do promoted listing views obviously, so I will probably just continue with that for now until I learn of a new process.
OK – So, I started with 100 views, and ended at 347 views
started with 2 watchers, ended with 2 watchers.
No sales (yet?)
This was from 12/31-1/2So, I will give it a week and then kill the listing and re-start it.
