I agree with you, Jay. The only reason I did the refund was because she still had the power to leave me a negative if I did nothing. Thanks.
I waited a couple days after receiving the return and had heard nothing, so I messaged the buyer. Got no response. Very weird. I refunded her minus the restocking fee through Paypal. If I “Cancel Order” through ebay, would there be any disadvantage to that? I would like to get my fees back. Thanks.
Thanks for the response, T-Satt. I have a restocking fee to prevent people from “borrowing” vintage clothing from me for special events. I really don’t want to absorb a loss on my fees either. I’m going to wait a day or two and see if I hear from the buyer before figuring out what to do.
Thanks, Jay. No contact of any sort from the buyer except the surprise package. Thank you.
12/30/2017 at 10:06 pm in reply to: New loophole for buyers to get free items – using multiple guest ids #29566Thanks for posting this. Sometimes I explain to buyers who contact me after checkout asking me to combine shipping (using one ID) that I can’t do it because you can only insure your label for the purchase price of the item you’re printing from. That leaves the second item uninsured. I do offer to cancel and relist so they can checkout again, but most don’t want to bother with it.
12/26/2017 at 12:14 am in reply to: Possible Way to Prevent Buyers from "Renting" Clothes thru Ebay #29404I have been doing this for my vintage and formal clothing sales. I have in my return policy that clothing must still have “any and all tags.” I’ve never been challenged on it, but even if I lost a challenge, I would keep doing it because I think it is a deterrent for some. The tagging gun and tags weren’t very expensive. I tag on the bottom hem so it will dangle or drag and can’t be tucked into the clothing.

I want to warn others about something NOT to pick up. Vellux blankets new in package. Yes, the blankets are fuzzy and wonderful, but if they have been in someone’s closet a long time in their original packaging, they are a disaster. I bought one and wanted to wash before using. I found a receipt from the 1990’s inside. On the outside of the package it says long term storage in original package is not recommended. I put it in the washer, and all that was left afterwards were globs and globs of lint. Not even scraps.
12/13/2017 at 4:21 pm in reply to: Case opened for item not received, though tracking shows it was delivered #28752They are right. Never refund if tracking shows it has been received. I had a buyer admit in messages that the package was stolen from their porch. Ebay does not hold a seller responsible for that either.
If you do sell it on ebay, be sure to require buyer’s signature at delivery. Costs $2.50 I think.
Similar experience for me too.
Here’s the most recent question I ignored:
“I have a question about the color. It looks like a soft pink with silver. Would you say this is accurate or is it more of a cotton candy/medium pink with silver? And does it have any peach/yellow undertones or is it more of a true pink?”
(Someone else bought it within a few hours, thank God)
You’re right. I sure will.
Before I was an ebay seller, I often picked the higher priced listing if the seller had better feedback than the seller with the cheaper version.
UPDATE: USPS denied my claim. I was just getting ready to appeal when the buyer contacted me and said the box came to him (3 weeks later) very beaten up, but with no breakage inside. He offered to pay again. I was really grateful for his honesty and that the wrongful recipient had forwarded it on. I sent him a Paypal invoice for the purchase price only, not shipping. The whole thing is still a mystery, but he paid, so there is a happy ending.
