I know you’ve resolved the issue with your buyer, but just for anybody else reading this, buyers are not allowed to clean or modify items they aren’t happy with. As soon as they do, it voids their opportunity to return.
I had a lady claim there was a mark on a coat. Wouldn’t send a photo. I offered a return. She went silent. Two weeks later she messaged me saying she had taken it to a dry cleaner, didn’t like the results, and wanted to return. The case closed in my favor.
Unless this policy has changed and I didn’t know it, buyers are not allowed to clean or modify items and then ask for returns.
My mistake. I was given the credit, but I had to wait an hour and 25 minutes to talk to an agent. 🙁
I’ve taken photos of serial numbers and put them in the listing.
I’ve seen it too.
So sorry this happened to you. Very unfair.
Sigilini did find the first one. Here’s my second try to post the other.
I gave the links but they’re not showing up in my post. Maybe I did it wrong or perhaps links aren’t allowed? The first was a teak Peugeot Freres Denmark set that was sculpted and asymmetrical. The second was a Kromex set with turquoise lids (rarer color).
07/16/2018 at 10:57 pm in reply to: Ebay agrees it's buyer's remorse but wants me to return shipping? #45599Got through to Paypal. She said she needed to transfer me to an “account specialist”. She transferred me to ebay. Really frustrating.
07/16/2018 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Ebay agrees it's buyer's remorse but wants me to return shipping? #45598I called ebay. I was told to refund her just the purchase price through Paypal instead of ebay. But when I go to Paypal, there is a temporary hold because of the dispute on ebay and “refund” is not an option. I don’t know why the two ebay agents I talked to can’t change the details of the case. The buyer messaged me and said she had mailed it but couldn’t find the tracking number. She complained that the cost to ship both ways was as much as the purchase price. She hopes I’ll be honest and refund her. I will, just not for shipping. I’m trying to get through to Paypal, but it looks like I may be forced to appear dishonest until the case closes in my favor because she didn’t upload tracking.
Thanks for all the advice. I refunded him the amount he asked, mostly for the mental benefit of being done with him. Lesson learned.
Thanks for the responses. I called Paypal and it was very frustrating. She just said if the buyer files a dispute, they would ask for documentation from both parties. (Yeah, I know). I explained it would be a “he said, she said” situation because he doesn’t like the audio quality. She just kept reading the script.
I found another sold listing where the seller said there was a whirring sound and that one sold for $199 and free shipping. It’s not the same person or state as this buyer — I checked.
I was glad to see Steven chime in. It’s a Panasonic RX-5150 boombox. If he could post again telling me what he would do in my shoes, I would appreciate it. I’m willing to take a loss if I have to, but I’d like to not lose everything if Paypal sides with him.
For what it’s worth, I called ebay just to see what the rep would say. She advised me not to give him any refund at all because he’s outside the 30 days and never messaged or opened a case. She thought his request for half back after 2 mos was “fishy.” He is five days away from being unable to leave me a negative feedback. She said if he does leave me a negative, I could try to get it removed. If all Paypal does is force a return, I guess that’s okay. I think I need to sleep on it before deciding what to do.
No cases have been opened. He can’t open a case on eBay because it’s been 2 months. The $117 is half the purchase price plus half the shipping. My nagging thought is, he bought it knowing one speaker didn’t work. But he’s willing to keep a device he regrets if I give him half back? He could resell it for more than $117. I think I could too — if he doesn’t defraud me by switching or failing to package properly. I’ve never had an INAD case with Paypal and don’t know what they would do.
Buyer wants $117. It would cost $58 to pay return shipping. Would you offer a return (2 mos later) or give him $117? He has offered no proof. It’s a desirable model, even for parts. I am worried about fraud through substitution, etc.
