In a related story, I got this message today regarding a jacket listing already described with detailed measurements:
“Will this fit a woman with a large bust comfortably (44D) 36 Waist and 44 Hips? She stands 5’3”
…I’m supposed to know if she will be comfortable in it???
I went ahead and posted a Wanted ad on Craigslist for “estate clothing and shoes.” I got a handful of responses for kids clothes, etc. Nothing remotely related to what I wanted. Any advice on wording this Wanted ad a little better? Thanks.
Has anyone ever posted a Craigslist “Wanted” for estate closet buyouts? Do you think it’s a good or bad idea?
Just an update — I received a credit for the purchase price only of my lost SmartPost item. It is shown as a credit on my eBay fees invoice. I did not receive a message or anything – I had to look for it.
02/07/2017 at 3:47 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 296: Are You Keeping Up With Your Inventory System? #11983I signed up for a Paypal Business account thinking the rates would be better, but the info I’m seeing on Google says it used to be cheaper is not anymore. The rates are the same as a Personal account. The only difference is you can accept credit cards directly. If I’m wrong, somebody please tell me.
USPS offers a “Priority Mail Mailing Box” that is 9-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ x 2-3/16″ that fits inside the PFRE. I recently put a 60-piece vintage flatware set that weighed 5 lbs into the box, then into the PFRE. The boxes are free from USPS.
I think you’re right, JasonK. I just wanted to encourage everybody to check individual St. Vincent’s because it does seem to depend on the manager.
That’s interesting. The St. Vincent’s closest to me is a reliable source of $1-3 good quality shoes, even Made in Italy and the like. The local manager runs daily tag sales and specials, while the other locations don’t. The Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers and Red Racks stores in my area are delusional. I do well at the Goodwill Outlet, but all items must be inspected carefully. More than once I have brought home two matching left shoes.
I just found a title somebody plagiarized from me. I’m not too worried about just the title, but I had to laugh when they even copied the little code I use for my bin number to tell me where it is stored. 🙂
01/22/2017 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Help! Smart post claim process/procedure for missing item? #10869Yeah, we all did.
I had a vintage 1950s Christmas Santa Claus half apron a few months ago that got thousands of views. I thought something had to be wrong. I decided to change the thumbnail photo from a closeup of the pattern to a photo of the whole apron, thinking maybe people were mixed up about something. I never did figure it out. It sold for $35 with free first class shipping, having been up for 2 months. I got it for $1 at an estate sale. All I know is I’m rummaging through all the aprons now wherever I go.

Unfortunately, what you are concerned about is true. Getting Fedex to pay on a SmartPost shipment is like winning the lottery. I have eliminated SmartPost from my shipping options because the packages tend to get lost, aren’t handled carefully, and there is no way to prove Fedex broke an item. They usually blame USPS if it is broken.
I still use Fedex Home Delivery sometimes because it is an insured method and the claims are easier to file. Sorry about the trouble you had.
I would not pay $10 or $20 either because there’s just not enough profit in it usually. Whatever wool you pick up, inspect it carefully in good light for moth damage. It’s really sad to get it home and see moth nibbles you didn’t notice before.
01/12/2017 at 2:03 pm in reply to: 2 issues: How did buyer get my email address? and Buyer not Mailing Return #10170You’re right. Since my Paypal email is the same as the one I communicate from, she saw my email address when she checked out. I could not find a way to hide that information, which is probably fair since there was a transaction on Paypal. It’s not visible until someone checks out, though.
01/12/2017 at 1:50 pm in reply to: 2 issues: How did buyer get my email address? and Buyer not Mailing Return #10168Thanks, Ryanne. I was able to get the return case closed.
The buyer emailing me said she got my email address this way:
“Your e-mail was on the page I ordered from I think. I just clicked right on it……I do not know much about e-bay.”
I’m going to check my settings and see if this is something I can hide from buyers.
