It happened to me with a used bottle of perfume. My first photo was replaced with a stock photo of a new full bottle, which I didn’t notice until later by accident.
I’ve also never had someone buy a pair of shoes after I dug them out and measured the inside for them. Not once. Maybe it works for others, but I’m moving away from even answering these requests. I agree with Jay. If they use Messages to send me all their doubts about the item, I would rather they not buy it.
I had one lady who was very pleasant and bought an inexpensive pair of shoes, but sent me a long message after the purchase telling me lots of information about herself – her hobbies, interests and the fact that she is a Sagittarius. I think she was trying to tell me what a great person she was so I would be sure to leave her feedback. I blocked her from future purchases just because it seemed too weird and unpredictable for me.
When I had trouble, I used the USPS website to send my postmaster a message. That got their attention because it was visible to officials over the whole system, not just local. The postmaster later followed up with me by phone and was very helpful. She told me that if my pickup was missed again, to call her directly and she would send a truck out to me. You said you spoke to a supervisor, but if it wasn’t the local postmaster, you might think about trying that.

Just wanted to provide an update. I got an email that this transaction qualified for Seller Protection and the full amount has been restored to me. I don’t know why the Paypal agent said I would have to make the effort to claim seller protection and that I would only be reimbursed half. I was fully restored without any extra steps. Hope the info helps somebody down the road.
The way the Paypal agent explained it to me is the buyer filed the chargeback by calling their bank directly, not by contacting Paypal. They told me that is why they can forward documentation but don’t make the decision. Very frustrating because I have no direct access to the bank, but must trust Paypal to advocate for me.

I did call Paypal directly. They said the chargeback was done through the buyer’s bank, not Paypal. They said they advocate for me but don’t make the final decision. Has anyone ever filed for Paypal seller protection and gotten half?
That’s a good attitude, Alex. An undervalued property can be found at any time if you are determined.
Man in Australia got to keep the item and $101. I submitted all documentation and never was told how item was not as described. Painful. Because he chose to chargeback through his bank, Paypal’s influence was limited in the decision. No way to defend myself to the bank. Argh.
An update: On 4/12 I got an email from eBay that the case with the woman from Israel was closed in my favor. Then yesterday I got another email saying the same case had closed in favor of the buyer because I had failed to refund her. Huh??!! I called and the agent said the buyer is allowed one appeal after the case closes. I reminded the agent that delivery had been attempted 3 times. She said I am also allowed one appeal and closed it in my favor AGAIN. I never heard of this appeals process so I wanted everyone to know about it.
In the case of the man from Australia who did not make a peep until 101 days after the sale, I am still waiting for a decision from Paypal. I talked to someone there and she said she has seen people file chargebacks as old as two years. She also said the burden of proof for a buyer claiming not as described is just about nil.
