So…I got this/these message/questions tonight about a shirt I have listed for $19.95 PLUS shipping:
Hi, Like the shirt, but was wondering about the fabric? It this light weight fabric, medium, or a heavier twill. Your pictures of the over all shirt, it looks like it has a sheen, like the fabric is a smooth fabric, maybe a twill which is a little still, but soft and smooth fabric. Please, can you describe this fabric. I have several shirts like this shirt, that I paid $19.00 for, Total, thats included shipping. Those are a deep navy blue, with the same color plaid stripping. I know from the flash, this shirt looks NAVY, but you list it as a black, a flash can always lighten the color?
Please let me know on this fabric. Again, there looks like a sheen on the overall picture of the shirt, which I kinda like.
ThanksSo far, I have not answered the message/inquiry & have blocked the buyer.
Any thoughts from any of you? -

I would answer their questions, but that’s just me. I think their questions are reasonable (tho not well written). I would say something like:
The shirt is definitely black, not blue – it’s hard to take good photos of black clothing. I don’t notice any sheen to the fabric, and to me it seems like a medium weight fabric, but both of these things are subjective – could easily seem different to different people. I can’t go any lower on the price at this time. Best regards, SellerID.
But I have a small store and only 1.5 years experience at this – maybe the pros have a different opinion?

Very well written!
If this were a more expensive shirt, I would definitely try to make a reply. However (maybe I’m a bit paranoid) but this hits me as a customer that is giving me a list of things they can use in a INAD case. Having sold quite a few similar quality shirts at this price point with no questions or concerns, I have every reason to believe this will sell to another buyer with absolutely no “red flags” involved in the process.
I’m “ignoring” the message for now – after all it is Friday night of a holiday weekend. That should buy me a bit of time to respond.

We usually ignore buyers with this many questions. Plus, many of these questions are asking your opinion. If they buy it and then disagree with your opinion, then you pay the price.
I find that buyers that need a lot of hand holding have a much better experience buying items they can see and feel in person at the store.

i also find that a lot of buyers who ask a million questions don’t even buy the item.

I actually had someone ask me questions after the sale was complete and they had the item.
It was a box set of a TV series and they wanted to know if I was the original owner. Not sure why that would matter. I told them no my sister was.
It was actually something I bought at goodwill. I was thinking maybe I left a goodwill price sticker on it by accident, but I never heard from them again, so who knows.

I’ve also never had someone buy a pair of shoes after I dug them out and measured the inside for them. Not once. Maybe it works for others, but I’m moving away from even answering these requests. I agree with Jay. If they use Messages to send me all their doubts about the item, I would rather they not buy it.
I had one lady who was very pleasant and bought an inexpensive pair of shoes, but sent me a long message after the purchase telling me lots of information about herself – her hobbies, interests and the fact that she is a Sagittarius. I think she was trying to tell me what a great person she was so I would be sure to leave her feedback. I blocked her from future purchases just because it seemed too weird and unpredictable for me.

regarding WBird’s comment on measuring shoes. I don’t get this request often–maybe 4 times so far, but I did have 1 person buy the shoes after I sent measurements.
She was very chatty with long messages both before the sale and a long thank you message after receiving the shoes, but super pleasant. I picture her as an older lady who grew up during the time when people actually wrote long snail mail letters –but who knows.
