Mike: No problem here and you know I am basically in your area. Might be something specific to your internet service? I printed one label this morning. We have comcast.
@sonia:
Yes very puzzling.I sold a new in box and sealed 1000 piece puzzle for about $12 plus another $10 for priority shipping. It had been for sale since Sept 2019.
Everyone was saying puzzles were hot selling this month. But mine did not attract that much interest before finally selling. Glad its gone. It was GOT theme.
Sometimes I think making offers to buyers is a big waste of time. Ok, sometimes it can kick-start a sale. But it has drawbacks, besides eBay’s poor implementation and being kind of a time sink chore: obviously it lowers item profit by lowering the final sale price; Interferes with seller being able to edit item details, such as handling time or shipping details; and sometimes leads to frustation with non-payers.
Recently:
On my buying ID, I put an item in my watchlist and seller sent me an offer. That was sort of my intent. But I only happened to see it in my notifications (with the bell). Absolutely no email and no eBay message either.Seller’s offer was still a bit high for me. But I cannot dismiss his offer nor counter-offer against it. The only option is Accept Offer.
Checking the item from another ID shows that it has best offer enabled. But from my buyer ID but I cannot enter another offer. Perhaps when seller offer expires (48hrs).
There is no real separation of the items on the eBay or Paypal transaction. Buyer bought qty 4 of first item and then qty 1 of second item. So there were 5 shipping charges, all added up. They must have put all in their shopping cart and made a single purchase. eBay lumped all the shipping into a single shipping total.
I plan to give a refund via Paypal, but upgraded the shipping to Priority, basically to keep the refund lower. Don’t want this to look like an out of stock refund.
Is a packing slip allowed for media mail?
USPS might consider a hand-written ‘Thank you’ as correspondence should they happen to inspect contents.
@Sharyn:
Does your pick list come from an app like Sixbit or something from eBay?Mike:
Be sure that you have done whatever Paypal may have asked you to do. It may as simple as uploading a tracking number inside the case even if they already have it from the transaction. You have to follow their instructions in order to protect yourself.I had a couple of similar cases over the years and all turned out good. Sometimes the case is weeks or months after the transaction, when disgruntled ex partner reviews statements after a break-up and no longer wants to pay for someone else’s stuff.
We are also in Gwinnett county but much too shy to share details online.
Mike,
Well this sounds like a simple Paypal case unless I missed something. All Paypal requires is that you ship to the address that they have given you. I don’t think it even has to be a ‘confirmed’ address. They have some other adjective to describe it.Note: you have to have proof of shipping. Not proof of delivery. When a case has been opened like this, you just have to re-enter the tracking number. And you should be good while Paypal sorts it out and has your money on temporary hold.
As far as the transaction, you should pretty much be expecting a return of some sort. If buyer does not open package, they can give it back to postman as ‘refused’ and it comes back to you with no charge. Then you can refund. Be careful so they don’t get refunded twice some how.
I wouldn’t poke the bear either. You are right about the vague policy.
I had a similar ding years ago when my description said something like “Please don’t bid unless you are a technician” or something like that. And eBay took down the item. No negatives allowed on eBay.
Their pricing is ridiculous.
Well it might be important if you have a charge back or paypal claim for a big dollar item 6 months after the sale. I just sold something on consignment and that scenario would be a nightmare.
@Sharyn:
Didn’t you post last year about getting the tracking from USPS via a FOIA request?@IndySales:
Seems to me that using the word “Not” in a title is asking for it, because Years ago it was abused plenty. Keyword spamming: Imagine an item title like “Used car Ford not Mercedes BMW Lexus”.I guess you have to look for a way to make your description into a positive statement. So rather that “Not factory reset” maybe something like “Configured by previous owner”.
You might also want to try making a Custom Item Specific field with a field name “Factory Reset” and field entry of “No”. That would probably pass the eBay bots and Perhaps that would make it INAD-proof as eBay support loves the Item Specifics.
@Retro:
Yes it sounds strange. Pretty fishy. But I don’t really understand the scam part. Can you explain why you think it was a scam and you were a pawn in it? Seller drop shipping with a stolen credit card or what?02/10/2020 at 12:35 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 446: Interview with Dan The Diner, Fellow Scavenger! #73834MDC Mike:
Maybe you missed this post, I was hoping to hear back from you about the SixBit wrappers.01/31/2020 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 446: Interview with Dan The Diner, Fellow Scavenger! #73530MDC Mike:
I use SixBit and understand what you mean about building descriptions using data fields including Item Specifics. This is a fantastic feature, which takes sort of a programmer’s mentality or skill. I use and appreciate it.I did try to get this going with the data fields in description wrappers but had too many problems, mostly with font sizes being difficult to manage if memory serves. So I am not using any wrappers at all.
You state something about both T-Satt and you dropping description wrappers. (SL forum does not seem to have a post from T-Satt on this subject, so maybe there was some off forum conversation.) Can you share more about that conversation and/or give some details about why you both might be dropping wrappers?

I understand you wanting to keep shipping simplified. My volume is way less and my offerings are eBay and US only. So long as they have a zip code: territories, APO, FPO are Ok by me. I tried GSP and did not get any sales. So that is in the past for me. Besides GSP may be gone soon?Seems like quite a few of my sales are thru forwarding services. I just mailed a small package to a Miami forwarder today.
To answer your question about Shop Airlines America: On 1/17/2020, I had a sale to “ShopAirlines Inc” that shipped first class to Redondo Beach, CA. Someone posted a positive feedback for the transaction a few days later. Odds are that item went across the Pacific.
