Thanks everyone. Great responses from the forum. @retro-treasures-wv, you are correct. These were returned for fit and the buyer paid shipping in both directions, which cost him about $20. My guess is that buyers quickly figure this out and switch to INAD.
I was discouraged because they took a long time to finally sell. They are Haggar brand. Perhaps they would sell a lot sooner if they were perhaps Levi’s.
What brands of men’s jeans are on your BOLO list? And/or what brands would you pass on?

A native of Texas, Arthur William Hall grew up in Virginia and Oklahoma. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute where he met fellow artist, Norma Bassett. Following service in WWI, Hall settled in El Dorado, Kansas where he worked as a court stenographer, he married Norma Bassett Hall in 1922. With the exception of two years spent in Europe during the 1920s, the couple remained in Kansas and became charter members of the Prairie Print Makers in 1930.
The Halls moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1944 and, in 1950, they established an art school and studio named Rancho del Rio, located between Taos and Santa Fe.

Perhaps you are over-thinking this one.
Retro:
Thanks for this. (The INFORM Act info). eBay does not make that easy to find when looking thru your account settings. Also, I noticed that even though one may be eligible for an exception, due to having a residential address, One must still go in and opt into the exception. The eBay default is to share your residential address. Duh.
This deserves its own thread.

The glitch appears to be gone this afternoon. I hope eBay made a fix.
I have tried 3 different browsers on 2 separate computers and all show the glitch.
You have to get into what you might call the slide show with just the photos on the screen. The first photo is never super-sized.
When you are viewing photos for an item and have the image on your screen, right click to save the image. If the file name is something like S1500.jpg, it is the smaller size.
When you check the other photos for the same listing, the file name will be something like S1600.jpg. These are the larger size images.
I decided to try them out and have been disappointed. My order arrived with broken items. They shipped via Fedex Home and the items were not packed well enough. There was no damage to the outside of the carton.
I have made several attempts to contact them via their web form and email but no replies yet.
I use SixBit and their Small Business Edition ($42.99/month). SixBit also has a Home & Hobby Edition that costs $24.99/mo. Plus more expensive plans that add cross-posting to multiple platforms and online inventory management.
The above post by @mark-s is correct in that SixBit supports: ebay, etsy, amazon, and Shopify. I only use it for one site: eBay. Also they are starting the Beta test for integration with the HipCommerce collectibles marketplace. Sellers in these categories can list with SixBit to any of the three collectible sites: HipStamp, HipPostcard and HipComic.
SixBit is the least expensive assistant that I can hire. A few features that I love:
For “one-of-a-kind” items: SixBit saves info about these forever in my database. When listing a similar item many months later, just use the duplicate function, make a few edits, update the pictures & list the item.
For items in the same category that are very similar: Use an item template or the duplicate function to create a new item. Use snippets & wrappers (like SixBit macros) for common listing details. Again, make a few edits, update pictures & list item.
For eBay end and sell similar: SixBit makes this super easy. Sixbit automatically ends the listings and then I re-submit to eBay. I end & relist about 75% of my items every 30 days. There is a learning curve, but SixBit is worth the effort. And, SixBit tech support is awesome. I get prompt support by posting a ticket on their website whenever needed. And, if you ask, they make special efforts to help you get started during the free 30-day trial.
SixBit has Free 30-day trial. If you want to check it out, this is my referral link.
Thanks for the advice. One more question here:
Since the buyer had already closed his own case, I had remained quiet. So far the buyer messaged me twice more. The second message was an apology for how he had confused parts that his brother had given him with my good parts.
So in a way the issue is resolved. Problem is eBay still scores the false case against my seller metrics. Computer Parts is a tough category in which to maintain good seller metrics for returns.
Any way to get false cases purged from my seller account?
In the Spring Seller Update 2022, eBay announced that they are going to make some changes to listing view counts.
eBay wants to eliminate view counts that come from bots, so the counts should be from shoppers. And they are switching to a 30-day rolling view count.
They are probably working on all this right now.
I use SixBit. Sixbit gets view counts via the eBay API, and these are not working right now either.
@lukastreasuretrove: For promoted listings, eBay is going to begin charging the promo fee on all aspects of promotional listings. This includes shipping. These changes start on June 1.
Check details found in eBay’s recent Winter Seller Update:
“On June 1, 2022, the Promoted Listings Standard ad fee calculation will change to align more closely with how we calculate final value fees. Specifically, the ad fee will be calculated in all markets based on the total amount of the sale for each attributed sale, using the same basis we use to calculate final value fees (including applicable taxes, shipping and other applicable fees described here). Currently, in certain markets including the US, the Promoted Listings Standard ad rate applies only to the final price of the item.”You may want to adjust your promotional fees accordingly.
@millionairedojo:
Maintaining a Top Rated Seller Plus rating gives a seller the seal and 10% off on final value fees.
Most of us probably don’t need to jump thru eBay hoops for this.
But for most of us, Top Rated Seller is worth maintaining for the discounts on shipping plus potential best match visibility, etc.The two remaining seller Levels are: Above Standard and Below Standard. So you are probably Above Standard.
Below Standard sellers pay penalties in the form of increased FVF. So no one wants that. Are you checking your Seller Dashboard / Seller Level to make sure you are not moving toward a problem there?
If you are on managed payments, you probably cannot issue refunds without eBay knowing. If necessary, you can download reports about the transactions that have offended eBay to analyze what is going on.
BTW, isn’t it interesting that eBay can have some big screw-ups but we sellers get dinged if a package does not get a timely scan?
@ChristineR: For 2021 tax year, you have to have both 200 sales AND over $20,000 in transactions. So eBay probably does not need to send you the form nor report to IRS, etc.
Next year, for 2022 tax year, eBay will issue a 1099-K for everyone with $600 in sales. The latest Congress passed new legislation that requires this. It’s the law. I suppose this includes all but the most casual sellers. Read more here.
“Are we paying Final Value Fees on the Sales Tax Collected from the Buyer”
Yes.
