I use Sixbit and am trying to grow my store. Sixbit has a really basic location field that works for me. And the default SKU scheme is also pretty basic but it also works for me as well.
Over the years, I have been ‘self-diagnosed’ as a ‘compartmentalist’. I don’t need to recall all the details about anything, just where it is stored or filed, etc. In scavenger terms this translates to: which bin, box or shelf.
Some suggest using the eBay Custom label (SKU) field to hold your inventory location, etc. Wow. Not me. After all the debacles that eBay has, why store all your Storage location info with eBay online? Keep this under your own control in an applications where you can make backups (Sixbit, Excel, etc.)
Country Lane: Thanks for your input and pics above in this thread.
MDC Galleries: Thanks for the embedded SKU and custom item specifics info techniques above.
gfd_622: Thanks for your comments in a similar thread here on SL. For those interested in improving their inventory system, check this thread.
btw, Country Lane & gfd_622: I was born a Hoosier.
Jay & Ryanne : Thanks again for the podcasts & forum.
Update:
I sent several messages to the buyer and sent a Paypal invoice for re-shipping on 10/16/19. Crickets from the buyer. Nada.Meanwhile the item is still sitting here.
Almost feels like Buyer is using Jay’s Silent Method on me.

10/20/2019 at 3:51 pm in reply to: My free boxes from EBay Shipping keep getting sent to an access point! Help! #69309Well it is mysterious so look for a strange reason. That seller no longer takes Paypal.
Did you ever perhaps have the Access Point address associated with your credit card?
Or
Did you ever use services at that Access Point yourself? Such as having something re-routed there by yourself or by other sellers, at your request? Perhaps there is some old setting that is sticking with UPS. It is (scary) amazing what UPS remembers as far as your history of deliveries and even previous addresses and associates, etc.Is the Access Point in the same zip code as your home address?
If you still think you need more attention from the seller to fix the problem, then perhaps you could open a case for Item Not Received. This is a bit heavy-handed, but would get the sellers attention. You could even do this if you have picked up the items. Or perhaps make another purchase without using the eBay coupon.
Call eBay and get it removed. Should be an easy one.
Don’t ask Buyer to revise feedback. This might backfire on you.
And let us know how it goes!

Jay:
Thanks. I do get worked up some but it seems like eBay problems are not so random. This transaction started last week with an eBay glitch. And today I had another weird buyer address to fix. I found an address validation website that helped with that.I used eBay messages to let the seller know what is going on with his item and to give him a choice to cancel or pay shipping again. And I have found his email address after some digging in Seller Hub, so I know I can invoice him at Paypal if he takes that option. They have really made the buyer email address pretty hard to find.
I could not find his email address at Paypal at all; and, don’t really see how to send ‘a Paypal invoice through the original’ transaction.
Wish eBay / Paypal could validate the shipping addresses that buyers have on file?

It sounds like you need to upgrade.I think it works like this:
For Good-til-Canceled items, when they relist, the new store subscription will cover them, up to quantity 250. New listings count against the 250 just the same as re-listings do. So if you upgrade promptly before they relist, I believe you will avoid the fees for up to 250 items total. If your current store is on monthly subscription in order to get the discount, when you upgrade make sure that you also stay on a monthly subscription. Otherwise, eBay might charge you an early termination fee for your old store.
Jay: Thanks. No it was not my error. The plan you outlined is what I was thinking. But
What is the best way to invoice buyer for another shipping charge? eBay messaging seems to block those messages that mention paypal and email addresses. Plus every now and then I get an undeserved message about off eBay transactions, etc., that are bot generated from simple buyer messages.
I get really frustrated when a simple transaction becomes a time-sink and messes with my shipping metrics, etc.
Jay:
Thanks for the advice.Yes I have 30 day returns. That is one reason I did not call eBay to close the return. I think I would called after 30 days.
Well you are always at the mercy of the bot.
Your item title is perfect but you can still tweak it.
“Long Sleeve” can be LS
“Size Large” can be “Large”, “L” or “Size L”Perhaps add the measured sleeve length to the title.
Also see if you can add a new ‘custom item specific’ such as ‘Measured Sleeve Length’ to enter the differing sleeve lengths. Might help convince the bot.
Sounds to me like you need separate individual listings but watch out for the eBay duplicate listing bot. eBay can lower visibility of all your items without ever sending you a dup warning.
Definitely keep the titles distinct. Shuffling the words or categories does not help with the bot. The order of the words in the titles will not matter; you have to use different words. In the titles, use words like Gray or Aztec or even the measured sleeve lengths. Whatever actually describes the differences.
You can check the titles for being different at isdntek:
http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/DuplicateListings.htmMake sure some of the item specifics are different too.
If some items are still too much identical in your mind, wait for the first one to sell before listing a different one. Also, it is probably ok to list one buy-it-now and another for auction if the items are truly identical.
10/04/2019 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Interesting Promoted Listing "Trending Rate" Inconsistency #68592Old_Dad:
I tried the promoted listings bulk csv load and download; and like it. Thanks for the tip.Mike:
I know you have a lot going on right now. Thanks for the wall of text & well of info. It all sounds correct to me.Wish I could list and forget but I cannot seem to do so. Most of my items are just not all that unique. Before eBay GTC I would list most items for 30 days, then review, tweak and relist. That does waste a lot of time that should be spent listing new items. So, in one sense, I thank eBay for helping me waste less time that way, but I still think most of my items go stale in 60 or 90 days. And even a simple relist with no tweaks seems to help.
I have Sixbit Small Business Edition (no allocation plans) and it helps with that but there is still more tedious work than I like.
Mike:
I was hoping to hear back from you by now regarding my SixBit question:
specifically about ‘old and stale’. So I am giving this thread a bump.So tell me how long does it take for items to go ‘old and stale’? 30, 60, 90 days or other? And, now that eBay monthly relists are for a different number of calendars days (30 or 31, perhaps 28 for february or 29 for leap year), do you take this into account or just ballpark it when setting your SixBit custom duration?
Theresa:
One cannot offer the cubic rates that PirateShip uses via eBay because eBay does not have a cubic shipping rate option.eBay would have to begin offering a cubic rate priority shipping option in order for you to pass this on to buyers. (I wish they would.)
In the mean time, you can check to see if PirateShip might help you save on shipping. If so, you can refund the buyer or pocket any difference.
You don’t need to create an account at PirateShip in order to check. You can go there with info about some of your previous packages (dimensions, weights, ship to zip codes) and what-if the pricing.
Once in a while, I sell a heavy item that fits in a rather small box. For example, 3 to 4 lbs and 13x4x4 box. With PirateShip and cubic rate priority to more distant postal zones, one can save $3-$4 or more on an item vs the other priority rates. Typically I sell these items with free shipping, so I keep the savings.
