Yep there are ones that are hours away that I have gone to that are pretty good. I will have to be a bit more open to a longer drive to get there. And after the challenging roads here in the Ozarks the ride should be a piece of cake.
It seems like those of us that fix do it because we enjoy it! Finishing the paint by numbers is my favorite. They sell paint kits that mimic the paints in a typical PBN. I sit and drink coffee and paint 🙂

Our week was mixed, started out strong and now no sales in the last couple days. Anyway, a quick comment on Thank You’s. I have been putting one in each item since the very first thing we sold. It is just a note pad with the store name and I just write Thank You unless there was some epic interaction with the buyer. I have a theory that it adds some civility to the transaction that leads to better interaction if there is a problem and perhaps lets the buyer not be so nit picky if that is their inclination. I do get feedback that mentions the note, always in a positive way so for me it is worth writing them up. Have a great week!
Fun article! Didn’t know about the dog mascot. I am a postal worker and always thought our motto was “ we deliver for you”. We say it when we pull off an especially miraculous handwriting read, package redirection or package repair. We add the word eventually to the end of “we deliver for you” when we screw up.
Yep! Mine are always about estate sales. Really good ones! All stuff I want. Lots if dark corners with treasures:)
It made me pretty happy when I saw that! It really goes along with the “get the right item to the right person” idea 🙂
A couple years ago, I sold a wooden sea captain carving to someone in Denmark and they sent me a series of pictures of the captain enjoying his new home. Goofy, but it made me happy that they were happy… and that the captain had a nice view out his window! They went for 31.99 plus shipping. Not bad!
They are Sanford Deluxe. They all still work and have that great marker smell!

Jay- people who started w the po before 1986-ish are civil service and have a pension. Around that time We switched to 401k’s. I started in 1989, which makes me FERS. We get a little something to help w our insurance but nowhere near the 80% of salary those that started earlier can get dependent on years of service.

About the late shipping rates the last 3 months: not only do we ( the post office) have way more volume, we have a huge army of untrained temp workers. Not an excuse for poor service. Just an explanation.
01/22/2019 at 7:02 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 395: What Lifestyle Is eBay Supporting For You? #55557I have been selling about 3 years. I am 52 and hope to retire from the PO at 56 1/2. We don’t get a pension exactly so I will need to work after that. I would like scavenging to be my main job. I just gotta keep striving for the better stuff and higher prices! We have mostly used our profit for ebay business related stuff. More storage, scavenging trips etc. but at some point sales will need to increase to support a retired me. Now off I go to work for neither snow nor heat nor darkness shall keep me from accomplishing my appointed course with all speed. Mostly darkness and cold… and I work indoors… but still.. We deliver for you!
Give it a try! You don’t have to be a poor college student to enjoy a little (tax free up to 600.00 annually) kicking around money!
Just had a hazmat class at work (I’m a postal worker) Strike anywhere matches were mentioned as prohibited. Who knew? Not this 30 year postal pro!
