I have not listened to this weeks podcast yet, I listen on Tuesdays (my Monday) at work but I wanted to say that I just listed our store on Bonanza a few weeks ago. I put almost zero effort into it aside from signing up and in return I have gotten… nothing. All I really have time for is one platform. I have sold here and there on Etsy over the years but that was always things I made. Etsy does seem friendly and homey! So for now, Ebay Ebay Ebay… and more Ebay.
I try to research but some estate sale houses will have such terrible internet reception that that isn’t always possible. I have made some fairly bad purchases on “gut” but also some really good ones. But I also make a lot of ” what the heck its a buck” purchases that I do not research at all. And I still feel weird when I whip out my phone to research :/
Sold my second junk drawer! Took about 4 days. Did a medium flat rate box this time. Already working on a third! Here is a link if you want to see what was in this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/263570839006?roken=cUgayN
KatieScott- I love reply all! The episode you are talking about involves a watch I think. Scammers really put effort into what they do!
I listed it in Collectibles > Wholesale Lots > Other Collectible Lots. I put another one together yesterday. But thinking about alzheimer’s patients I should look to put one together without knives or other sharp stuff. I also looked at what others have up as junk drawers. It is, as usual per eBay, a very wide variety of “drawers”. Some people have one item in the lot, others have a pile. So Sigilini’s lot is not too small, it’s just waiting for it’s buyer.
The pocket knife and dice were my best items in the lot. I was kind of thinking that a good junk drawer needs to have some treasure to it. The photos and stereo view cards were just for visual interest. And all of this is stuff that has been in my way for at least a year. I could have listed some of it separately for sure. Also, this was kind of fun to choreograph in a way that I thought would garner attention. I have not gotten feedback yet. I’ll report back if I do.
Yep. You are 100% right. She just came at me the wrong way and I got my eBay feelings ruffled. I need to include composition for the furniture. I do it with everything else I list.
Jay, I don’t make a habit of selling 2 dollar items, but these chairs are usually in every lot of furniture that I buy. I guess I could just make a listing for four at a time but that is very low money as well. I kind of look at it as a maybe way to bring someone to the store that is just looking to replace one broken chair in their house and then they stay and shop for a while. People do buy multiples of them as well, but again very tiny money at 2 bucks a pop.
i will look into the “items specifics” way of listing and I will start adding the word plastic to my listings. I was just feeling some kinda way about it yesterday, but I am better now. Thanks everyone!Yep. Just one kit. Hunting dogs. Someone had painted one of the numbers. Badly. Maybe that discouraged them. So now I spend my Sunday mornings filling in the numbers. The complete ones sell pretty easy for us as well. Didn’t think a kit without paint would sell for more than a finished set.
I work with an app called dscout. Totally legit, been with them about 4 years. Same concept, market research but you do it on your own. You qualify for “missions” based on what the company is looking for. The pay is anywhere from maybe 20 bucks to ? I did one a few weeks back and got a visa gift card with 300.00 on it!
I think you guys handled it well! If it ever happens to me I will handle it the same way!
Bought a box of plastic dollhouse furniture over the weekend at a very packed estate sale. Everyone was fawning over the tin toys at one end of the room so I went in the opposite direction. I know nothing about this stuff but the box called to me. All of it was in good condition but a bit dirty. It was 50 bucks which is more than I like to spend… The brand is Renwal or Ideal, they seem connected and interchangeable in the dollhouse furniture world. I lotted it up into 29 listings. It was fun! Like a tiny house staging :). It started to sell right away! Not huge money but I should get at least 300 for my 50.

They throw quite a bit of bread and produce… When I am there it never makes it to the garbage 🙂 It’s how I first tried Jack fruit! Not quite a road hamburger…
11/05/2017 at 7:28 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 332: Share Your Extreme Scavenging Confession #25030A couple of summers ago on a hot sunny day, we were garage saling and at this one house was a pile of stuff at the curb. In the midst of the crap was a beautiful string art. Snapped it up and put it in the trunk before going into the sale. Was out the whole day but never added anything to the trunk. That night we popped the trunk to retrieve our treasure and realized it had been at the curb because a cat (hopefully) had been using it as an alternate litter box. My trunk smelled like cat pee all summer :/
