@mark-s I love estate sale dreams!
@mark-s I love estate sale dreams!
I love selling stuff I find in the trash or on the curb! Made money AND kept something out of the landfill.
Yesterday I went to a sale and its finally kind of nice here in Illinois so I was standing outside waiting for it to open. Started chatting with a lady next to me and long story short, she still has her mothers house 5 years after she died and it is full! We exchanged numbers and I am definitely going to give her a call! I offered to show her how to list while I am there so hopefully it will be productive for both of us 🙂
I too have the app but have been too shy to try! Our sales and sourcing have continued on an upward trajectory for the last month which is a welcome change. I am planning on retiring in about 60 days and will be redirecting part of my day to ebay. @retrotreasures, the problems that often come with that type of buyer are not worth 50 bucks!
After a dismal summer of small sales and sourcing problems things have started looking up the last few weeks in both areas! Heres to a good fourth quarter 🙂
I love selling stuff I no longer use! Our sales were up a bit this week. I have been listing one or two things every day. I too finally got covid this week and have been using the down time to list some super old death pile stuff 🙂 Enjoy New York!
That app sounds great!
I love that you still update us on your life 🙂
We had a really bad week as well. Silly, super low offers that try my patience and questions that lead nowhere… Part of the problem has been a real lack of sourcing opportunities lately. Sky-high prices at estate sales/nothing worth buying. This won’t last forever tho 🙂
February and March sales normally feel pretty sad, the pandemic sales at this time last year definitely makes this slow season feel worse! Getting our taxes done today 🙂 Happy for the success of the coffee shop!
Happy New Year fellow trash elves! Not the best christmas selling season but Ill take it! Sold some things we have had at least 5 years. Also a 100 pound lot of books! Sent in 3 boxes, found out how easy it is to spilt a shipment on ebay. Whittled down some death piles as the sourcing kind of dried up so that was good. Had a bad fall a couple days before Christmas walking the dog. Fractured a rib and messed up my back. Lucky to have a very helpful partner! One thing this accident has made me take a hard look at is where we store some of our inventory. It is in places that I cannot get to in my current condition. Under the bed and on the floor under our shelves seemed perfectly logical at the time… this will have to be addressed at some point. Maybe clear out space in the garage for more shelving. Wishing us all great things in 2022!
Good to see everyone still posting 🙂 We had an ok week after several very slow ones. Also have been working thru death piles as the estate sales around here have been really bad. I am about a year away from retirement and would like to ramp up ebay a bit but I need to find better sourcing options for that to happen! Have a great week everyone!
I love hearing that the markers are still selling! We sold a vintage marker to someone thru gsp recently and ebay said it was a non shippable item. They kept the marker and refunded both me and the buyer. Hopefully someone at the gsp facility is enjoying that “old marker” smell! I think sales have picked up the last few weeks, but not by a lot. Although, we have been less than our normal level of motivated when it comes to listing and I am getting anxiety walking past the death piles.
I have been slacking on listing the last month or so but as always, this is not about making our own personal sweat shop so I didn’t stress about it and my listing numbers are coming back up this last week. Sales are spotty but still happening.
Had a PHONE MESSAGE FROM A BUYER!!! I hate that ebay gives our phone number out… He wanted me to call him about a vintage phone he bought from us. I didn’t want to so I messaged him back expecting the worst. Turns out much of his family lived in my town at one time and he wanted to tell me that. and also that the phone didn’t work properly when he got it but he fixed it. Way better than I was thinking it was going to be!
Another slow week for us in both selling and listing. Just haven’t been feeling it lately so a bit more relaxing and playing with our new dog and less sourcing and listing but will be getting back to it soon! @cdils we had a customer who got that exact message you are referring to. They messaged demanding to know why I would not ship to them, I told them it was probably a glitch and they went on to purchase the item.
Sad to see you go but proud of the great work you have done! You helped shape my store and many others! Best wishes for future success:)
