The link just changed from what it was before.
I think the promoted listings credits for TRS are quarterly.
Mike, the link only takes YOU back to your personal page b/c your browser knows that you are logged in to ebay (via the cookie that got set when you logged in). The link takes me back to my personal page. I have no way of getting to your personal page. I’m not sure I even know what your ebay id is, so how could i have constructed a link to your personal page? If you look at the URL, you will see it is generic – has no user info in it at all.
OK, here’s the correct link to the page where you can reply to feedback, for anyone who needs it:
https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/BayISAPI.dll?PersonalizedFeedbackLogin
I think I’ll bookmark that now.
trying to delete my response…

How do you reply to a positive feedback? I’m looking at my feedback page, and I don’t see any way of doing it. I do remember that when I replied to a negative feedback a few years ago, it was easy to do.
Thanks Mike for explaining all of that to me. I’ll continue to think about it – I may be making a bigger deal out of it than it is. Let’s just say that I’m on the very extreme end of the “cloud vs locally-installed” spectrum of preference. I don’t have many (any?) applications installed on my computer besides MS Office and whatever comes standard with the OS. I don’t even want to install TurboTax – I have been using cloud-based TurboTax since 2005. 🙂
“If you ever come on board with something like WonderLister or Sixbit it would not take up any brain space at all. ”
True, but from what I understand, then there’s the brain space needed to install and manage these applications and their databases, correct? I would love to have some of the features that I see mentioned from time to time, but there is no way that I’m going to get into the business of installing, storing, and managing (including backups) a database. Is there any cloud solution that provides the same functionality?
almasty, when your sales just stopped, were you still listing regularly?
hurray!
congrats!!! That is wonderful.
Care to share how much you paid for it?04/27/2018 at 10:41 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Daredevil Dan stunt set, Settlers of Catan, Models & Trains, Bench vice, Post card, used Cassette tapes #38532I tend to buy a bit of what I call “obscure high-end clothing.” By obscure, I mean it’s by a high-end or even luxury-level designer I’ve never heard of, or, less often, I’ve heard of them, but they’re not very well known except by those who follow fashion at the couture level. The problem is when no ebay buyer has heard of them either, so then they don’t sell for very much, and I’ve even lost money on a few items. But I’ve also made out pretty well on a number of items. Now I try to be more careful and only buy stuff that seems to be selling (obvious to me now, but not when I was starting out).
An independent, sometimes way overpriced thrift store I go to did not, of course, identify this Rachel Comey dress as high end, so I got it for only $3.75. I sold it for $44 (would have gotten more but it had a tear by the zipper). I had not heard of Rachel Comey before, but the dress looked interesting enough to look up. https://imgur.com/a/jCtJSHg
At a mostly junky rummage sale, I found these ski pants that looked interesting and good quality, so I surreptitiously looked them up and then did a little internal happy dance when I saw that Erin Snow ski pants retail for over $500, and there was some action on them on ebay. When I came to check out, the cashier charged me $1, and the pricer hovered nearby, clearly upset that she had not identified and labelled these as a higher priced item. Sold them in 2 weeks for $100.
I don’t know how or why, but I had heard of Issey Miyake and his Pleats Please line a very long time ago, so I was super excited to find this dress. It was priced at $15, but when I mentioned I was going to try to get a faint stain out of the dress, the cashier gave it to me for $10. More happy dancing! Stain came out easily, and dress sold in one day for $225.
Never heard of Paul Stuart, but this mens overcoat I found at a mostly junky thrift store on their FREE DAY seemed high quality, so I looked it up, and then quickly stuffed it in my bag and took it to my car. Even with two flaws (see last 2 photos), it still sold for $70.
Jack Gomme – a French high end handbag designer. At a store that sells old ll bean corduroys for $8, I got this bag for $2. Sold in 1 month for $40.
I almost didn’t buy this Reformation dress (yard sale), b/c it was $15 and I wasn’t able to look it up on my phone. But I went to my car, looked it up, and went back and grabbed it. Sold in 3 days for $88.
This last item was also from FREE DAY at the mostly junky thrift store, and the name Sonia Rykiel sounded vaguely familiar, so I grabbed this children’s beret. Sold in 1 month for $37. I think it went to Korea of all places.
And now for the dud. I looked up the name Luciano Barbera and it’s a high end Italian designer, stuff sells at Barney’s for really high prices, and stuff sells on ebay too. So I grabbed this cashgora (comes from a goat that is a cross between angora and cashmere goats) corduroy jacket for $12 and did my happy dance. When it was still in my store a year later, I was no longer happy. Finally let it go for $9.99 🙁 I lost money on it, but at least I learned what cashgora is!
I wouldn’t do a thing or give it another thought. It’s really no big deal at all to have one negative feedback. It’s not going to affect your sales at all.
Terri,
depending on how you set up vacation mode, buyers can absolutely still purchase items. See the config screenshot I shared above. If you don’t check the last box, then buyers can still buy.>And does it now actually prevent purchases, rather than just doing a bad job of hiding your listings?
It absolutely can prevent purchases (and has been able to do so for at least the past few years that I’ve been on ebay), but that’s just an option – as you mentioned, the text you quoted has a checkbox next to it. If you don’t check that box, then buyers can continue to purchase your items, but they’ll see a banner message telling them you are away.
For everyone else’s benefit, here’s the VM config screen.
If the sleeves are raglan style (no seam between bodice and sleeve), I skip the shoulder and sleeve length measurement, and just give a chest (armpit to armpit) measurement. If I feel like it, sometimes I will give a neck-seam-to-end-of-sleeve measurement. That’s all the effort I would expend on this (other than trying to get under that macy’s return label to get to the original price).
