I don’t understand the big need for a new store level between premium and anchor.
With Premium, if you have 1000 listings, it’s 6 cents per listing per month. If you have 5000 items, its an average 9.2 cents per listing per month (about $1/year). That is still pretty darn cheap, especially when compared with final value fees. If I thought it would achieve anything, I would spend my energy on asking for a break on final value fees. But that’s just me.

Thanks for always so clearly reminding us of the whole shrinkage fact of life (business wise), plus value of our time. Sometimes it takes a few reminders before I truly buy into something AND remember to implement it as part of my regular operation. This was another really good reminder.
Soniawow – she is really good in that commercial! Thanks for sharing, KatieScott.
I assume you’ve also seen her awesome acting in Mad Men?I look forward to seeing the show. I tried the book a long while back but couldn’t get into it – this is usually not my genre of choice so it was just too weird for me, but might be easier in the form of a tv show.
Yes, Liz’s messages really take the cake.
I think I needed to see those right at this moment, b/c my buttons were being pushed by someone purchasing an item, then immediately sending me a message afterwards saying only “I want a picture of a button.” No please, no reason, no acknowledgement that the listing has many photos that show the shirt’s snaps (it actually has no buttons), nothing. Usually I don’t get too worked up about buyers’ weird messages, but this one got me. So now on to deep breaths. ๐you could just create a post for this and people just keep adding to the post.
Oh wait, I almost forgot this other crazy one. In my very first INAD return, the reason was “the buttons are weak”. And no, the buttons did not easily break or anything like that.
My current “favorite” is
“Thank you so much baby”
ewwwww!
He also called me “love”, which wasn’t quite so bad, and I did make a good sale, but still….
I haven’t listed magazines yet, but I’m going to do so soon. I like your approach and am going to follow that.
OK, I think I got it now. Thanks for educating me, guys.
The bad news is no double dipping and no deduction above original purchase price. The great news is no longer having to keep track of and calculate value of ex-inventory items that I’m donating! And no more dealing with donation receipts (for ex-inventory items). That is going to make life so much easier!! yay.
I vote for avocados. Just cut in half and eat with a spoon. Or put in a sandwich.
baby-cut carrots and hummus.
oh, wait a sec. I see Netflix has it on DVD – it’s in my queue now – looking forward to it.
I really want to see it, but its not on Netflix, and I’m not on hulu.
Anybody hear about it coming to Netflix or Amazon?I have not paid for cable TV since 2003 b/c of Netflix, which has saved me a lot of money over the years. But now that there are all these other providers (hulu, acorn, britbox), it seems like I may have to sign up for them all in order to get to see everything I want to see, and once you start adding more and more subscriptions, the savings of not paying for cable TV goes away ๐
T-Satt – Thanks for bringing up the double-dipping issue! I have been wondering about that for a while…. So just to clarify your last sentence, you *can* donate items that you have removed from inventory, but you just can’t take a deduction of their value if you’ve already included their cost in your yearly COGS.
Huh. That sort of makes sense. What confuses me is that I may have paid 25 cents for something at a rummage sale which has a thrift store value of $10, so the two “dips” aren’t equal. In other words, cost and value are different. So maybe when I remove from inventory and donate, I should take the $10 donation deduction instead of adding $0.25 to COGS? But if I’ve overpaid for an item that I remove (cost > value), then I go the COGS route? Is this approach something anybody else does?
When I click on it, it says “unfortunately, this offer is by invitation only.”
But thanks for posting anyway.
Wow – how did you find that mug on the other ebay site? I think it’s ireland.
I tried an image search myself (and countless text searches), but didn’t come up with anything.Paul Cardew’s signature is on the bottom of the mug. The artist is someone different. But now that I have a clue as to the name of the design from this other listing, that may be even more helpful.
Thank you so much, Sharyn!!!
