There was a caller this week about listing / selling magazines. I thought to add my two cents to the answer and see if anyone else had any other advise.
I am NO expert but here is what worked for me: Look up the mag name and year (not including month) in listings and then in sold listings and see if any stand out as really valuable or extra desirable. Example: “Lowrider Magazine 1996” or “Sports Illustrated 1973”, etc.
List individually the ones that show up as very valuable and bundle the rest by year. If value is marginal on one or two, just bundle. Let someone have a special mag and off load the rest at the same time.
I use my store’s 500 free auctions to list magazines, not because I think I will get more money but because I am nearly at 1000 items and I don’t want to use up my free listings on so many magazines.
Listing individual titles is not worth my valuable time if they are only good for $5-10.00 with free shipping. Magazines cannot be sent media mail so it’s first class, priority, or medium flat rate box (which works great for magazines). I always charge for shipping on the bundled magazines.
How do you list magazines?

I haven’t listed magazines yet, but I’m going to do so soon. I like your approach and am going to follow that.

Yes.. you can get 10 to 15 lbs of magazines in a flat rate medium box or for less, consider the flat rate padded envelope.
Good Post..

Hey Joe! Thanks for the tip! Yes, and if I have room in the box I throw in free mags that I don’t think are worth much and I don’t want to list so my buyer gets a bonus and everyone is very happy.

Anyone want to give their opinion about my listing?

This is a magazine published in the UK and I saw no other examples of it. I was not sure how best to list it.
Your invaluable advise and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Some useful info in the description. This lot was sold in the UK, where presumably the magazine , while uncommon, would be more common than in the US. $20.48 for the lot.

The tip about the listing category is important because, strangely, the free auction thing only applies to collectibles and fashion. If you list in the correct normal for magazines (“Books > Magazine Back Issues”) you have to pay for the auctions.

Hi Siglini-
Thanks for that magazine nugget- Because of you sharing, I picked up a FREE box of Rolling Stone mags 1994-1997 over 40 mags total- Condition problems with some, but many collectable issues.I build 2 lots
1)94-95 20 mags
2)96-97 20 magsboth lots are packed to ship in the large flat rate boxes. weighing in at a whooping 13 lbs each- sorry mail carrier!
I used a collage app “pic collage” to put 3-4 each into a single ebay photo and also have single shots of the more collectible issues in the lot. This worked well.
Here’s the link if you wanna take a look-

Hey Ms. Sally, thanks for the note! That made my day! I get SO much help from you all and finally I was able to return the favor. Great listings, I checked out both of them. Please keep me posted on your success. I would love to know when they sell.

Good tips, thanks. I’ve sold singles or small lots in the past. First class, or priority flat rate mailer.
I still tend to overlook magazines a lot, and I do run across them quite a bit for nothing or next to it. I think I need to re-think my logic now. LOL
BigSally…your photos look great.
