I generally sell folding road maps in lots of 25 to 30, so they can ship in a flat rate padded envelope, otherwise, I use flat rate boxes.
$60 is a great sale. Good deal.
Congrats on the new house.
Wow, I’m glad you were refunded.
Does Paypal really expect us to take a screen shot of every confirmed delivery, in order to protect ourselves?
Interesting…
Hi Amatino,
Wow.. you guys are out there.. great post and good advice.
I see homes with upwards of 40 acres (mostly in the more rural areas.) I’m tempted, but it appears, big is not always better.
In reality 5 acres with some functional out buildings would probably be more than large enough. It’s not uncommon to just bring in a 40 foot storage container and use it as an out building. I’m also not adverse to just having a large metal building out up with a concrete foundation.
Most of the properties, reasonably close to town, either have city water (mutual water company) or have their own wells. In the end as long as one or the other exists, I’ll be fine.
Although we get all four seasons, the winters are mild, compared to most areas. Just the same, I do want a wood burning stove and they are fairly common. The town has free firewood available for residents, you just need to cut it up.
Most of the homes also have swap coolers for the summers. It will take a while to get used to the heat, but I’m not overly concerned.
I’m looking forward to the change. The lack of local jobs is what keeps the housing so reasonable, which is fine for me.
I’ve already been told by my relatives to always combine trips and maybe get a dedicated freezer. I’ll have to start making lists.. no more impulse purchases.
I won’t miss the traffic, at my present area.
Hopefully it will all work out.
Thanks for the post..
Hi Jay,
I agree, passable roads, water and electricity seem to be non negotiable options for me.
Internet will probably be satellite or by cell phone. I’ve been using the cell phone for years (ex trucker), so to keep doing so is no big deal to me. Whenever, I check the reviews for the satellite companies they seem to be disasters.
I’ll be less than 20 miles away from a population center, with all the big box stores and conveniences. The town I’ll be in has a couple of stores, so the necessities are available, if needed.
Your numbers are in the ball park, although $400K won’t get you a starter home around here. The real estate market is absolutely nuts.
If I play my cards right, I’ll be able to pay off some recent debt and also have a home without a mortgage.
Thanks
If you go to the business policies page, look to the right of the individual policy and it will tell you how many listings it has and will have a link to view and edit them.
A year ago, I took out a loan for $1000 with a 30% payback. It ended up taking about 45 days to pay it back and the total fees were $23. It was a great deal for me.
I agree. Ebay needs to make a lot of changes to be in the same value and earnings category as Amazon.
I wonder, in the long run if Ebay is going to have room for the small seller of vintage one of a kind items.
The rare one of a kind items are great for window dressing, but in total, is it worth it to them? It’s like a Chevy dealer who has a mint condition 1965 Corvette in the showroom. Sure, they’ll sell it, but they really want to sell you a new car.
Also, I imagine the cost to maintain customer service for the small sellers is much higher than the guys selling all the commodity items.
It will surely be interesting to see how Ebay progresses.
A lot of buyers have a their accounts set to automatically pay, once a purchase it made.
I once sold an item to a local buyer. After paying me cash, he hit the buy it now and I got paid again automatically, through Paypal, so I had to refund him.
I generally want them to buy it before the pickup, but this was an unusual item that required an inspection.
If you go to your seller manager, you can sort by time left.
I believe this problem occurred on 6/21 to 6/23. Since June had 30 days, the items that renew on 7/21 to 7/23 should be the affected items. This is where I would look for the items with missing photos.
Good Luck.
Mike (MDC Galleries) has great suggestions for wording above. If you are authorizing (and paying for) the return, I would suggest something along the lines of:
” Once a return is begun through Ebay, a return label will be forwarded to you. The return label will provide return shipping from the original delivery destination in Delaware to me (origin city). If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me, or Ebay directly.”
I wouldn’t bring up the Moscow to Delaware cost, unless the buyer pursues it. If he’s bought other items, he knows the drill.
Good Luck.. keep us advised.
“Job Summary:
The Buy Teammate supports eBay Buyers with eBay account set up, navigation through eBay site/app functionalities, paying for items, and general case questions”
It’s interesting that the position is to handle Ebay Buyers.
There is no mention of sellers anywhere.
Great advice Inglewood,
I also store my unique T-shirts, each a in small clear plastic bag, with a piece of masking tape as a label. Later on it makes finding and shipping so much easier.
I get the bags at the 99 cents store (non-Ziplock 40 to 50 in a box). I also use these 1 gallon bags for my trucker hats, before boxing them.
Then they are all stored in numbered bins. You can store an awful lot of T-Shirts in a single bin.
I used to ship in a box, because I found a huge cache of free boxes a while back. Now I just don’t want to pay to ship in a box (extra weight for the postage), so they go in Poly mailers.
Good luck and keep it fun.
I have been ending every 30 days for a while, which is why I wasn’t effected by the glitch. I try to end on the same day (many less than a hour away) from the listing recycling. this way my fees are not really impacted.
I still have GTC set up, that way if something comes up and I’m busy, I won’t have a bunch of unsolds sitting unlisted.
I have a call in to Ebay right now, waiting for call back on an unrelated issue.
A Rough week for all I think.
I doubt you are going to get anywhere with them.
I ended my listings no more than 2 days in advance.
Did you end them all at the same time?
Wow, this post got ugly fast. It quickly went from a battle of words to a “Shape up or Ship out” ultimatum.
I have to agree with Sigliani. This post was weak at best, but I think you went over the top on this one Jay. I’m not sure why you even bothered to respond.
That beings said Adventure, you do post a lot. I have to agree, posting a title and link, without any specific point to make doesn’t really contribute to the forum. Maybe it’s time to self regulate yourself and limit your posts to one or two a week. That way, you can be more selective in what you post.
Also Adventure, maybe it’s time to let your forum members know more about you. Sigliani has come out to defend you and I’m sure she’d like to know more about you. I doubt she’s the only one.
You say “it’s just the Internet” Jay. I don’t think you really believe that. otherwise you and Ryanne wouldn’t spend so much time here. This is a great place for people who do what we do. This is more that just the Internet.
Thank you for this great place.
“Can’t we all just get along”
Peace out
