You can also create a separate selling account for these smaller items and just send them without tracking. It’s a little risky, but if they’re low cost items, it might be worth the risk.
Happy New Year.

It’s also a fair amount of work and really doesn’t save much money, just gives a lot of options.
Happy Holidays..
12/20/2018 at 4:38 pm in reply to: Has anyone found shelving units that will fit 3, 30 Gallon containers/shelf? #53800In my old house, I used wood to construct custom shelving. Some kid put a youtube video up explaining how to do it. I used 2 X 4’s with framed shelving and these shelves hold a lot of weight. Because of their size, the wood does take up “dead space”. I’m willing to bet 2 X 3’s or even maybe 2 X 2’s would be strong enough for your application.
For the shelf area, a 4′ by 8′ piece of wood is cut down the middle leaving you with (2) 2′ by 8′ pieces. The shelves end up 2 feet deep and as wide as you want them. Of course, you can alter those measurements, any way you see fit.
In the video, he uses nails, but I use screws to put everything together. In case I need to adjust or move them, the screws make it easier.
Good luck with it.
I’d push it out even longer. Why put yourself in a bind if you don’t need to.
If you get one of these small utility trailers $349, you can make it into whatever you want, box trailer, motorcycle trailer little camper etc.
I have one that’s a small box trailer and another that’s a flatbed. They are very handy and can be towed by just about any car.

Good luck with your trip.
Hi Jay, thank you for the kind words.
I had a plan and much to my surprise it worked perfectly. I also knew that I’d have some FU Money left over and time was on my side. Once the old house sold and I received the funds, my stress level went way down.
The weight of the monthly expenses had been adding up. I also had credit card debt accumulating and owed the IRS some money.. All that has since been paid.
Living in the motels was a little stressful, but it was short term, so no big deal.
Then this house suddenly became available. They say “Luck is when opportunity meets preparation.” I say, “It never hurts to be in the right place at the right time.” Either way it worked out nicely for me. I truly didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
The actual close/move in doesn’t happen until next week.
Essentially the house will be turn key. I’m getting all the appliances and furniture , as well as a large flat screen TV, a small utility trailer and a garage full of tools. The kitchen has everything I’ll need such as dishes, pot and pans etc.
The sellers are am older couple with age related health issues. I let them know, it’s ok to leave whatever they want and Ill just deal with it. They are very nice and I wish them the best.
I can’t wait until I move in and get to look through everything. I’ll probably just keep most of the tools.
Once I’ve moved in, I’ll post an update.
Thanks again,
Happy Holidays.
Wow.. big changes for me.
I need to finish moving into my new place and set up my storage and shipping areas.
Move my inventory to my house from the storage unit 25 miles away,
Get my store out of passive mode (extended handling time and no new listings).. The whole moving process, as well as, the selling of one house and buying the other has taken about 6 months. All in all, it’s been a big success, but it’s time to get back to work.
Finally, I need to get to the point that my Ebay income is paying all the bills. That shouldn’t be too big a deal, as I’ve drastically cut my living expenses by moving.
Once the dust settles, I’d like to have a metal storage building with a concrete slab and electricity, installed on my property. I can use it both for Ebay and a work shop.
2019 is going to be a big year for me.
Happy Holidays
Hey, don’t rain on my parade there Retro.
I happen to like the brand new plastic piece of junk computer I just bought. I did my homework and it suits my purposes.
And I’m always thinking like a scavenger. I’m currently in the process of closing on my new (to me) house. I agreed to purchase the contents, partially due to the fact that I don’t want to buy appliances or furniture.
Not everything has to be bought or acquired second hand.
Merry Christmas…
I found mine at a yard sale for $5. It works great.

When I moved from my old house, I didn’t bring a whole lot of furniture with me. The stuff I did bring is marginal at best. Quite frankly their stuff is better than most of mine. There are a couple of nice pieces, but most of it is pretty generic, but functional.
The garage has a large assortment of tools in it.
After I move in, I’ll go through everything. Some of it I’ll use, some I’ll sell and the rest, I’ll either donate or discard.
It also saves the home owners the work of selling and disposing of their items as they are older and moving in with family.
Between the garage and the container I should have enough room for Ebay and some kind of a work shop. Depending on how things turn out, I may end up buying a second container, or eventually putting up a steel building.
In this area, most everyone has a swamp cooler. They are much cheaper to run than central air conditioning. Having both is a plus, but I’m told the swamp cooler is used most of the time.
Thanks
Yes, even after all the expenses, temporary living etc, I’ll have a nice bit of cash to fall back on.
In the last 4 years or so, I’ve depleted my cash and a bunch of my retirements savings, so it’s nice to be in the black again. All debts are paid. so back to square one.
It will be a challenge to move into the house and sort through the contents before moving my stuff in. I hope to convert the garage to my Ebay storage/shipping station before moving in my inventory.
Needless to say, the next few months will be busy ones.
Thanks
Update…
Things have been progressing. About a week ago, I moved into my month to month efficiency (cheap small) apartment. Shortly thereafter I became ill.. cold flu who knows. At about the same time the house, I’d been waiting to come on the market did.
To make a long story short.. I am presently in escrow.
It’s a 2 bedroom house, slightly bigger than the one I just sold. It’s only 15 years old and in great condition. It sits on just over 2 acres and cost me less than 1/3 of the price of the house I just sold. I will be able to purchase it and not have a mortgage.
It’s on a paved road. It has natural gas, a wood burning stove, central air and a swamp cooler. There is an oversized two car garage and a 28 foot container in the back. The older, yet fully functional appliances are included with the price of the house.
Today, I made a deal to purchase the contents of the house. The owners are an older couple with health issues and it just made sense for both of us.
If all goes well, I should be moving in sometime next month. I am amazed at how fast this happened and what a great house I’m getting.
Thanks for all the great comments and suggestions from everyone. Today is a good day.
That’s great advice. However I just use newspaper in the same fashion. I make sure the item is securely wrapped, generally with stretch wrap. This ensures that none of the newsprint can inadvertently get transferred to the item.
I agree, the craft paper gives a better presentation, but the newspaper is usually free.
Well it turns out the place I thought might be unpermitted was actually permitted correctly. It’s also sold/pending. It was on the market for 8 days. At least I’m looking at the right properties.
I’ve got a line on a short term inexpensive rental with utilities included. Also. I’ll be meeting with en experienced local realtor shortly, so things should get moving.
I may take a look at the 5 acre discounted property to satisfy my curiosity, but I’d also like to see some move in ready units as well.
Thanks again for all the great comments.
