I thought exactly the same thing (c:
I worked in drug rehab and drug education for 20 years…. regarding the house cleaner, my first thought was drugs.
I had a similar situation with a t-shirt. Auy was really nasty and sent low ball offers. I blocked him after two times. Sold the T-shirt at full price a few says later.
Had a guy that kept sending low ball offers on a pair of really amazing Harley boots. Once a month, he would send an offer, always up by 5.00 or so from the last offer. And he would always decline my offer which was way below market value but I was willing to let them go. Sold them this week for full price 125.00.
And today, had a guy send me an offer on an antique tray. Said if my item does not sell he will give me 33.00 including shipping FINAL! I thanked him for his email very politely and let him know that if the item does not sell, I will donate it to charity. He instantly paid full price. (c:
Jay, as you said 500 items, is a milestone. We hit that milestone this week! I think we should have badges for milestones, like they do in the boy scouts, I mean we worked our booties off to get to 500 items and we made it!
We list a lot faster now and the sales have picked up in the last few days since we hit the 500 items mark. Just in the last four days, our net profit on items sold is 383.00.
Thanks you to everyone that has encouraged us through your posts and of course to Jay and Ryanne who have been steadfast and unwavering in their convictions.
Thank you Ryanne! Love this new food link to the foodies in the scavenger group.
Yes, that was my first thought but Amatino sent some good links and while not exactly the creature, down right close!
Sandwiches are amazing!!! But I cannot eat them anymore. I LOVE bread. I could live on it if my body would cooperate. But I also like to create in the kitchen. It’s an art form and my husband enjoys the results.
Just curious if you might call it vintage folk art? Or just some random home made item?
OMG I though surely this time no one can answer the question. Thank you so very much.
Now… will it sell? Ha! We shall see. Jay says it all sell eventually…. I am going with that. Thanks Sharyn! We are on the same page. I listed the good ones (24 in all) sold by the piece with a note in the listing that we have more tile in various conditions should the buyer be interested and that we would send pix and sell them at a lower price. I figured that if the good ones sell well, I would then list the others too.
The only liability of selling by the piece is being stuck with one or two and as you said, what good is that. I am going to monitor the listing and we will see how it plays out.
The Still Life key word was super helpful. It took me on the correct research path and I actually found a comparable. I learned the word listello (border or trim pieces) which is the type of tile this is.
And I also found this about the now European Union: The EU ceramics industry is a world leader in producing uniquely designed high quality ceramic products such as tiles, bricks, sanitary ware, or vitreous clay pipes. Most manufacturers are innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Even though the industry was hit hard by the economic crisis, there are signs of recovery. The European Commission’s objective is to help the ceramic industry get back on track and enhance its competitiveness.
Thanks again!
Thank you AdventureE and Sharyn,
Sounds like the consensus is European Community.
These are ceramic tiles and I have nearly 40 of them (25 of them in really great condition and the rest are mostly good.)
“Still Life” — good! I did not know that.
Thank you for your input, VERY helpful as always.

12/11/2017 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 338: Rich Scavenger, Poor Scavenger #28654Christine, glad you are safe! We saw super huge smoke plumes yesterday when we were out on the 118 FWY, and it was hard to tell where from, perhaps the Ventura/Ojai area. About an hour later they were gone! I am so grateful for our amazing firefighters and police. True heroes!

My mind was SO uneasy with the selling of these pictures that I just could not bring myself to do it. I actually listed them, had someone watching them within minutes of listing, and then deleted the listing.
They are very tame by today’s standards but still, I figured my peace of mind was worth not selling them. Maybe when I get more seasoned I will think differently.
When I was younger I had pictures done for some photo shoots and they were tame but on the sexy side… would I want them sold on the internet today without my permission? It would not kill me but likely would make me unhappy. The seller would not be wrong for selling them but I would hope that they would consider my feelings in the matter.
NOTE TO SELF: The next time I get 35mm slides, ask the seller about them to be sure there is no issue.
12/09/2017 at 3:38 pm in reply to: Photo slides of people… can they be sold if they are not your photos? #28446Yes, I can see it both ways. It does boil down to the ethics/moral issue: These girls were obviously modeling and the pix look like the kind of shots you do for your modeling portfolio. But these girls did not know about the internet and the guy that sold me the box might not have remembered all that was in there (the box was tucked away back in the garage all dusty and I was stockpiling a bunch of stuff together so he might not have noticed it). While it is perfectly legal to sell the pix, and as much as I would like to sell them (which is why the question even came up) I will wait until I can have a better understanding of this issue.
Next time I buy 35mm slides I will try to get a better info from the person that is selling them, especially if people are involved.
