Instead of a packing slip I use a small thank you sticker that has my return address on it, on each item. Three benefits: 1. if the outside of the box/package gets damaged the Post Office will have an address to return it to. 2. the sticker works as a bit of tape to keep the clear poly closed (I store a lot of items in clear poly bags). 3. Faster and easier than printing an entire packing slip each time. I don’t affix the sticker directly to the item but rather on the clear poly bag if that’s what the item is stored inside or on to the outside bubble wrap, etc. I use Avery labels 1.5″ x 1.5″ size. I stock up when I have a Staples coupon or when I find a good deal on ebay. The Avery website lets you design your label for free and saves it so it can quickly be reprinted whenever I need more.
I haven’t shopped at Wal-mart in ages but they used to end most of their prices at .97. I assume that they probably spent boatloads of money on consultants and marketers and psychologists who found that .97 made people more likely to buy the item for whatever reason. Or maybe it just differentiates them in some way. I haven’t tried it myself.

I’m amazed every day that I get a sale. I guess I didn’t expect anyone would be buying anything non-essential (even online) for awhile due to economic uncertainty, even for those with guaranteed full time employment. Lucky for us, some people are still shopping. My sales are down 45% but I’m happy and amazed to have sold 12 items this week.
I’ve sold 2 different budget planners to 2 different buyers this week – makes sense.
I’ve been selling a lot of drawer knobs over the last few weeks after having them in inventory forever. I guess people are finishing their furniture projects while idle at home.
My highest price sale this week was a NWT Reformation Dress sold on best offer for $75. Based on the cheap feel of the fabric I did not expect it to be a valued brand, I was wrong.
A single pair of Polo Ralph Lauren socks sold for $26. Am amazed what people will pay for socks.
If you’re desperate for inventory, check your closet. I sold a 7 piece lot of used swimsuits that I haven’t worn in nearly a decade for $20. I didn’t even bother to take very nice pics of them but someone still bought them.
Good luck with your sales everyone!
I’m thinking there may be an uptick in garage sales once shelter-in-place orders have lifted. With so many people unemployed and businesses closing (and many yet to close) I think people will be doing whatever they can to make money to pay bills, including selling things from around the house.
12 new listings for me this week. Spent most of my ebay time ending, fixing and relisting stale listings but I did manage to get 12 new listings up.
Zero gold items.
My office made it into a scene on Ozark season 3. It films around Atlanta. GA although the exterior aerial shots are sometimes of the Ozarks. The last episode when Marty and Ruth walk out of his office building they stand in front of my office building. A bunch of coworkers got their pic taken with Jason Bateman when they were there filming season 2. By season 3 the novelty had worn off because production kept taking over all of our parking spaces.
People who argue that the 2-5% mortality rate is just the price to pay for have a booming economy, will change their minds once it’s their friends and family dying. My best friend’s grandpa died a few days ago from it. No one got to visit or say goodbye. He died in a hospital bed alone. Now the family can’t even grieve together as grandma is in quarantine dealing with her grieve alone and funerals aren’t allowed unless they keep the guest list to under 10 people. Our economy will come back. Our family members won’t.
This post makes me so angry. That post office employee does not get to decide what is and is not essential. Having lived in MD for 7 years, I’m not surprised. That area of the country had the most cantankerous postal employees, in my experience. Please update us after you go up the chain.
I’m excited for you! I switched ebay rooms at the start of the year. The process of cleaning out one space and setting up a new space really got me organized and reinvigorated to tackle the unlisted inventory.
0 for me. Threw my back out a week ago and have been barely able to move. Has finally started to feel better the last couple of days.
Happy listing this week, everybody!
Ebay doesn’t seem able to police their own policy. I just did a search of N95 masks and there are 4,470 active listings on ebay as of Sun, March 29 noon. I’m sure it’s probably like a game of whack-a-mole but one would think they could do a better job than what they are.
I wonder if it’s considered price gouging by ebay or the gov’t if the items are sold via auction? I ask because a listing from yesterday on ebay sold 4 cans of Lysol spray for $450.
I also noticed other listings for lysol being sold for a reasonable price but then the shipping is close to $50 for domestic shipping.
Schitt’s Creek is light hearted comedy series. A wealthy family loses their wealth and ends up trying to rebuild their lives while living at cheap motel in a small town named Schitt’s Creek. The characters are barely likeable at first but as the series progresses the characters become quite likeable and even sweet. I usually have it on while I’m steaming clothes & photographing stuff.
27 for me this week. Was zipping right along yesterday, folding & bagging clothes I had just listed on eBay when I threw my back out. That’s right, I threw my back out folding laundry. Siggghhh.
Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Even with all of the stores offering massive discounts online, for me there is just too much uncertainty about the economy and the length of time it’s going to take for things to bounce back. Estate sales are probably a better idea than purchasing brand new merchandise. But I fear that even the used market is going to take awhile to come back. Although it will come back sooner than the market for new consumer goods.
