36 listings for me, 3 met the Oct challenge. Was aiming for 40 listings – maybe next week.
Feeling pretty blah today. I’ve reached the age where any overindulgence results in me feeling like garbage the next day. Last night it was too many salted roasted pumpkin seeds. I love salt, it does not love me.
I looked into this last week after getting two orders from AUS. Certain types of mail are not being processed for AUS but Ebay was one of the handful of exceptions so perhaps that is why some of us sellers are seeing more AUS buyers all of a sudden.
29 listings for me, 4 met the monthly challenge.
I’d like to average 40 listings per week for the rest of the year but that may be a bit aggressive, although it is do-able if I buckle down.
Recently I pivoted towards more hard goods because I’m burned out on clothing. The change has relit a fire inside of me. I’m enjoying sourcing a bit more and learning new things again. But this stuff also makes a bigger mess in my ebay space. I have stuff all over the place that need to be photographed, bubble wrapped, stored….
I understand that feeling. I’ve always been anxious that I could lose my ability to sale on eBay at any point. I diversified to Poshmark in order to not have all of my eggs in one basket but eBay is still 80 to 90% of my income these days.
I used to work at the Federal agency that drafted the nation’s anti-money laundering laws. Part of these laws require Ebay’s managed payments provider, Adyen to perform and confirm customer identification (we the sellers are the customers in this case). Because they asked for ID, I’m guessing that they had to take a few more steps to confirm your identity for any number of reasons. 1. They failed to properly document your identity back when managed payments started for you (but I doubt this as a company the size of Adyen would have this well automated) or 2. Your name is similar to a name on a sanctions list like OFAC or a PEP list (politically exposed person list – nothing wrong with being a PEP but extra due diligence is performed on them), or 3. Adyen, who is almost always being examined for Customer Identification/Anti-money Laundering compliance by any number of regulators (at the Federal level and by the state regulators in every state in which they have sellers), was asked to provide additional details on a random sample of customers by a regulatory examiner. That actually happens quite a bit. Or 4. it could be your name/identity/account activity was flagged for potential suspicious activity and they needed to verify your info. It could be something completely unrelated to anything you did. For example, maybe a hacker pretending to be you tried to change your bank account details with Ebay. Or attempted some other nefarious action and Ebay’s/Ayden’s cyber fraud team caught it on the back end but needed to confirm your identity/bank acct details to be safe.
21 for me, 1 met the paper challenge.
My dog had his 6th knee surgery this week so I’ve had to slow down listing. He is a big mama’s boy who has to follow me everywhere and he gets up every time I do so I’m trying to stay as immobile as possible by just sitting at my laptop. That means photo taking, organizing, etc has had to slow down. I’m thinking of spending some of my time crossposting to Depop, specially my vintage clothing items.
28 listings, 2 meet the paper challenge.
10/10/2021 at 12:20 pm in reply to: 8-track player, sales by Stephanie on Poshmark, Mercari, Depop @stephxred #93461What an unexpected and lovely debut from Stephanie! As a mostly clothing reseller, I loved it! I’m envious that she lives near a Goodwill Outlet (aka The Bins). They don’t have any of those in Georgia.
I sell mostly clothing and do not do free returns. I think there are still a few items in my inventory from long ago that may still have free returns on. In the last 3 months sold over 200 clothing items. I have had 6 returns (it felt like more than that probably because I cringe everytime I see a return notice on my phone). For most returns, the buyer selects the reason: “Does not fit” so I do not pay for the original or returned shipping. I think for the most part, buyers are honest. Out of the 6 returns, I’ve had 2 issues: one buyer left positive feedback but had a negative comment attached to it where she complained that she had to pay to return it. Last week I had a return from a buyer who is also a clothing seller and she reasoned that the dress was not as described stating that the item was missized because she has other clothing from that brand in the same size but this one didn’t fit. This despite the fact that I included all measurements. I’m 99.99% certain that she knows exactly how to get free returns and that is why she selected not as described as the reason. I could have withheld her shipping and return shipping by pointing out that the measurements were included but some things are just not worth the fight. I refunded everything and relisted while also biting my tongue which was not easy. More than once I started typing a response to her before deleting it. I blocked her and I also reported her to ebay for misusing returns just in case she’s done this to others. I’m not sure if that actually results in anything but at least it made me feel a little bit better. I can’t think of any other return issues I’ve had over the last year other than those recent 2.
I crosspost all of my clothing items to poshmark and am relieved when something sells on that platform over ebay because Poshmark does not allow returns for fit. Also, clothing sells for higher prices on Posh than it does on Ebay. The only downside is buyers are able to send offers with no way for me to turn that off so I always price quite a bitter higher on Poshmark to counter all of the low ball offers that I get.
With Iphone you can just download the regular free Google app. To use the Google Lens feature click on the camera icon that is on right side of the search bar. I just started using it a few weeks ago and it’s amazing!
10/05/2021 at 8:25 am in reply to: Alert to Sellers using Flat/Free Shipping: USPS Temporary Holiday Rate Increases #93396With the USPS postage increase, Priority Flat Rate Padded Envelope is no longer the cheapest Priority option any more (not including regular flat envelope). This morning I’m shipping a 2 lb pkg a few states away and these are the eBay prices starting at the least:
Regular priority $8.24
Regional Rate A Box $8.34
Priority Small Rate Box $8.40
Priority Flat Rate Padded Envelope $8.49
I guess I’ll repack these jeans into a box….weird.

Amatino, My parents live in the country and their place is overrun with cats. They catch who they can to get them fixed but the super feral ones aren’t always catch-able which leads to even more kitties. While I hate it, there are predators in the area that keep the population somewhat in check, but there are still A LOT of cats. Making matters worse though is the local animal rescue makes it very hard & expensive to take animals to them, even if you find a stray and take it to them, they want you to pay at least $50. So townspeople dump unwanted cats in the country near farmhouses like my parent’s place so there are always refugee kitties showing up. I don’t even want to think about how much my parents have had to pay to get these cats fixed and fed.
26 items this week met the September challenge. My Oct Challenge numbers won’t be quite as impressive. But it was nice getting some clothing death piles out of here during September.
During a time in the 80s on Wheel of Fortune, after someone solved the puzzle they had to pick their prizes out using their prize money. Their head would kind of float on the screen as the camera panned to a room full of prizes for them to pick from. That’s what this Etsy house reminds me of for some reason.
53 for me, 25 met the challenge.
I’m jealous of the clawfoot tub. The house I grew up in had one and it was the most comfortable tub ever! I wish they still made them like that.
