Amatino – Bravo on a job well done with the remodel! The painted ceiling works in there perfectly. I like everything you did.
Hopefully I won’t jinx myself by saying this but I think this week should be relatively distraction-free so here’s hoping for a productive week of listing!
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
I was able to get 12 listings completed for the week.
Here is the new guy, Monkey. Named because he has the same “haircut” as those organ grinder monkeys. Exhibit A:
He also acts much like one. A very silly guy, adding lots of fun to the household.
Hello Everyone. I’m back. My dad died kind of unexpectedly on May 4th so I went home for a month to be with my mom and get some things taken care of for her. Having my stores turned off for a month meant no income for a month so I will be hopefully a listing fiend this month.
Silver lining to dad’s passing was we were able to finally rehome 40 cats that he had been hoarding. They lived outside and in an attached garage. Rehoming that many cats would have been impossible if not for local farmers looking for barn cats. It was not easy but the cats are finally gone and their mess has been cleaned up. I did keep one kitty who was just too sweet and friendly to be a barn cat. Adding a 4th pet to the family is pretty much the last thing we needed but here we are.
The week I left I had 11 listings – I think that was week 19? 0 listings for every week after that.
35 listings for me – once again I’m posting late.
I don’t even know where my monthly challenge list is anymore. It’s somewhere on an overflowing pile on my desk. Lately I’ve felt like I’ve been treading water and can’t quite seem to get ahead. Honestly, I do spend a lot of time on unproductive things and going sourcing when I don’t need to. And if I don’t feel like doing something I won’t do it. This has resulted in a messy house, bad diet, piles of inventory getting out of control, etc. So about two weeks ago I decided I’d try to do 1% better (or exert myself 1% more) than what I felt like doing. This applies to anything – cleaning, taking care of myself, ebay, healthy eating, etc. The beauty of it is 1% is easy to do and you actually end up doing more than 1%. So far it seems to be helping me.
Sharyn that is a great banner! I love that you staged it and took the photo yourself – that makes it so unique and special. I just used a free photo I found on Canva so mine is rather generic.
43 listings for me. This morning I had my most profitable sale ever! A Christmas ornament I sold for $424. Its my 2nd highest sale but due to the low COGS ($5), it’s my most profitable. I bought it at an estate sale where several other resellers had been in the room before me and they all missed it.
29 listings for me. I don’t think I posted my number last week – I had 41.
Chel – don’t get caught up on the invoices aspect of this story. This isn’t about Ebay expecting the average seller to keep invoices on every item. This guy sold $1.8 million in shoes in a year, including several that were never meant to be seen by the public. This story has got federal investigation written all over it.
43 – posting a day late. Yesterday I picked up my grandpuppy. He’s staying with us for the week. He’s a 9 month old Brussels Griffon and a frenetic bundle of energy. Fortunately he’s getting along quite well with our dog. One cat HATES him. The other cat is spying on and stalking him, which are kind of his favorite things to do anyway.
A quick rant: I rarely offer free shipping although I used to. I don’t want to get into a debate on which is better (calculated vs free) – I’ve done both. But the general public seems to have NO idea how much it costs to ship things. After the last across the board rate increase, I have gotten so many messages from buyers asking if I can lower the shipping cost or ship the item a cheaper way. The items are already listed with the cheapest shipping option available. It costs what it costs! For my largest items I’ve started adding a disclaimer in the description that due to significant increases in postal rates, buyer may find FedEx or UPS to be cheaper than USPS. I have all 3 options available but I don’t think some buyers look at all of the postage estimates – they just freak out when they see the first one and then message me.
45 – I’m surprised I made it to 45, I had to travel out of town during what are normally my two busiest listing days.
No progress has been made toward the monthly challenge….again.
Having work done in the basement this week so most of my inventory had to be moved to another area and stacked very high. Here’s hoping they get done with the basement lickety-split because digging around for my stuff and moving heavy boxes that are on top of stacks taller than me is not fun. They haven’t even started yet and I’m already cranky.
39 for me.
Haven’t had a chance to start on my March challenge yet.
32 listings for me.
