Most wonderful time of the year? I would say so. 35 items sold in what is possibly a craig rex record 12 different categories. Net sales just over $1000 which continues to surprise me with a 400 item store. It was a good week…despite the fact that I only listed 16 new items, my lowest weekly total in almost three months.
My favorite sale of the year was three items to one buyer: Dwight Gooden (baseball) signed ceramic stein, Vitas Gerulaitis (tennis) signed framed display (I can’t believe this finally sold) and this cursed object. Such an unusual mix of items. My net was just under $75 and my COGS was who cares because I’m thrilled when anything framed sells (a sign to stop buying framed items, for sure) and I’m extra thrilled because that signed fan with its giant face was starting to haunt me. The cherry on top? The buyer was less than 100 miles from me. An all-time great sale. One to tell the grandkids about someday. Let’s hope USPS doesn’t smash my box to smithereens.
It was a good week for selling wartime minor league baseball history, because I sold a signed 1948 Portland Beavers yearbook and 1947 Pacific Coast League record book to different buyers within a few days of each other. Nothing crazy, $15 and $25 profits, but it was a nice surprise to sell one of them, let alone both, in less than a few months. I thought they would be much longer tail items. I have more of these 40s and 50s minor league books sitting in a bin. Guess I figured out what I’m taking photos of this weekend when the temperatures drop below freezing…
I did really well on this signed and authenticated sealed pack of CHIPS cards…$94.44 net and the original purchase was a $16.66 hammer price ($18 with shipping) back in July. Original listing had a sloppy title (no first names) and I believe was in a weird category as well.
I had a similar huge margin on this set of Kyrie Irving cards #1 through 10 out of 10, bought in very late June for $4.25 (!!!) and sold for $99.99 plus shipping, $74.95 net. This buyer was located near Dallas, the home of Kyrie’s new team, the Mavericks. So I sent the buyer a small pile of Mavericks cards, including a few Kyries, to go along with their set of Kyrie Celtics cards.
Also nearly at the bottom of my signed full-sized jersey shelf with two more out the door, including one to a repeat buyer who sent me a nice note after receiving the item and a few small bonuses, nothing crazy. My favorite thing about selling cards and sports collectibles is how easy it is to send a little extra with the purchase. It gets a fair amount of repeat customers and nice feedback. Despite that, historically, I lose repeat buyers sometime in the first few months of a new year. I’m going to try sending an aggressive 30% off coupon to repeat customers in Q1 of 2025 and see how that performs.
What did you sell this week?

Kind of a bummer the weekly posts are drying up. Thanks for doing your weekly posts. I’m not looking forward to moving on to another place to talk numbers, which seems inevitable. I just don’t think I can bring myself to pay a patreon fee to do a discord group so I’ll probably just stick to a private journal. Since we aren’t getting weekly posts anymore I’ve already switched to the weekly journal format in MS word. If the numbers posts show up I copy paste. If not, well at least I still scratched that itch of doing my weekly brain dump and business assessment.
Anyways, onto the solds!

Grillbot Automatic Grill Cleaning Robot (Black Carry Case, Bundle) New
This was one of my “why haven’t I listed this yet!” listings last week. Sold in 1 day for full price. Paid $6 at Goodwill.

Harley Davidson Riding Jacket XL Black Orange Shield Nylon Bomber Zip
Paid $5. Harley jackets are BOLO….as long as the price is right. It’s rare to find them cheap. Somewhere I have an amazing vintage one worth $200+ that I threw in a death pile instead of listing this summer. Shame on me!!!

Cars Race-O-Rama (Sony PlayStation 3, 2009) PS3 Complete & Tested
Video games are weird. The games you think would be worth money sometimes aren’t and then a game like this I would expect to be a $4+free ship game is actually desirable and has a great price. Paid less than $1 at a yard sale with other games.
I use an app called price charting to quickly scan through stacks of games to see if any are worth individually listing. Gone are the days of me listing sub $10 games with low STR!

Tonka Turbo Diesel XMB 975 Clam Bucket Crane Truck Vintage Metal & Plastic
Sold for full price. Paid $7 at a Goodwill in Columbus a little over a year ago.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266345903200
The North Face Men’s 11.5 Arctic Guide Waterproof Gray/Black Lace Up Boots
Sold on offer for $50. Paid $2 at a yard sale. Shoes – the easiest path to an easy to source $30+ ASP!

Nintendo NES Action Set BOX & Styrofoam ONLY Authentic Video Game System
This was my wife’s childhood Nintendo box. Her step dad was a packrat who kept every box of everything ever bought. This sat in their storage building for over 35 years! I also have the SNES box listed as well.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266318222738
The Walking Dead Graphic Novels Volumes 1-8 Comics
Technically price was $5 at a yard sale but I built a pile so actual price was less. I’m so far into profit on that pile at this point that COGS isn’t even relevant.

Royal and Awesome Golf Pants Men’s 34 x 32 Multicolor Paisley
Awesome yard sale from this summer where I got a whole garbage bag of men’s clothing for less than $2 an item once it was all said and done. There were multiple pair of this brand golf pants – all new except this pair.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266925627383
Zelda Link to the Past SNES Cleaned Tested New Battery
Sucks that the label was damaged. I still got premium money because I put in the effort to clean and replace the battery.

JEREMY MCGRATH MX ALLSTARS WITH HAT THOR YAMAHA 16″ TOY DOLL VINTAGE
Sold on offer for $40. I bought a huge lot of MX toys a few years ago. Only a couple pieces left but what an awesome pipeline that has made me hundreds of dollars. I have a Travis Pastrana one that is still listed for sale.

Thanks to R&J for continuing the forums. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235868615125 Some wealthy person donated a whole group of these Hansa (UK brand) realistic animals. (This one is actually the less realistic teddy). It sold right away, they usually go for more but it’s big so I didn’t want to hold on to it long. They weren’t played with and had the tags. I paid $15-20 for the two I got. Should have gone all in probably but I’m trying to limit what I pick up. This is a good brand to look for – all hand made, high quality. Also got a super nice feedback from the buyer because I put it in plastic inside the box, and the carrier left the box in what became a snowbank. It’s in the 70s here but I try to remember not everywhere.

@Retro-Treasures-WV – I keep thinking I should start the numbers post myself, but I’m never sure when to do it. I was thinking that I’d wait until Thursday to see if Jay writes one up or not. What do you think?
I’m only mentioning this sale because it was my highest. This is a NWT body shaper that had been my neighbor’s wife’s. Sold for $50.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186164936626
These cute bowls were part of a set I bought on auction several months ago. I’m selling them in twos or threes. These sold for $18, and the COGS are less than $1.

Blast from the past! This is carbon paper where you put a sheet between two pieces of paper so that your writing on one page shows up on the one underneath. When you “cc” someone in an email, you are making a “carbon copy”. Not a big sale for $13, but the COGS were less than $1. Bought a few years ago.

Appreciate the forum still going and those that are keeping it alive. I didn’t know it was possibly coming to an end and will strive to engage more.
I’ve been having a pretty good few months. I’m sure being more consistent on my listing is helping.

My sale of the week took 3 days to sell. It was a complete Lenox Spice Garden Spice Rack. It sold for $499.99 + $40 shipping. I bought it for $65 during a 75% off day at an estate sale. The person who owned it before me paid $4.95 for it at Goodwill back when you could still find good deals there. I forgot to select Signature Required when I shipped so I was sweating it for about 3 days after I saw it was delivered until the buyer left positive feedback. Phew!
