Only 9 this week.
Am moving my ebay room to a different part of the house so not much time to list. I have found a ton of unlisted inventory in the process.01/06/2020 at 3:46 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 444: Is Cross Posting The New Reality? #72570Fortunately the modified SNES I got still uses the same controllers and works just as I remember the original NES and SNES working but without the darn cartridges to blow on.
One thing I noticed this Christmas while looking at friends’ facebook photos, it seems a number of people got what looked to be vintage arcade machines, both the stand up and tabletop ones that were popular in the 80s. I think some were actually new but could be some refurbished ones too.
01/06/2020 at 1:48 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 444: Is Cross Posting The New Reality? #72566Video games were mentioned in this week’s episode. I just bought a modified mini Super Nintendo System that has almost every Nintendo and SNES game ever made. I bought it on eBay. Apparently when the mini SNES came out a year or so ago, hackers figured out they could go into them and add all of the other games through some sort of open source website. I imagine that will almost completely kill off the 2nd hand market for used NES and SNES game cartridges.
I’ve been in hog heaven reliving my childhood playing Legend of Zelda and Dr. Mario.Hello, joining along this year in order to keep myself accountable. Only 14 this week. 12 of those were done within an hour at my mother in law’s kitchen table. The lighting was just too good to pass up.
…..people you haven’t spoken to since high school are messaging to ask if they’re wedding band / parents stuff / garage sale rejects are worth anything on ebay.
Back when I was a Federal employee we waiting with bated breath for these executive orders. Some years we got them, some years we didn’t.
12/18/2019 at 10:58 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 441: How Do I Go From Rookie to Veteran Scavenger? #71841My sales have really taken a nosedive this year. I know others have noticed their sales are down too. But I wonder – could my having lost Top Rated Seller status caused some of the decline? I stopped jumping through all of ebay’s ever increasing list of hoops to be top rated this year. I still have 100% positive feedback (hopefully I didn’t just jinx that) but I don’t offer 1 day shipping or free returns on most items.
In the U.S., if a business takes out a bank loan to purchase large amounts of inventory or to open a line of credit, the bank will often secure the inventory as collateral by filing a UCC. The UCC serves as a claim against that inventory to show all other lenders that should the loan default, the lender has dibs on the inventory. I’ve googled around and learned that if someone buys up the original borrower’s inventory and that borrower did not pay down the loan with that payment, then the bank can still go after the inventory (because technically now it’s theirs) and sue both the original borrower and the person who purchased the inventory & resold it.
Yeah, it seems that his original story about the haul may have been somewhat misleading and now that the story is changing it isn’t making much sense. Hopefully whatever the story is, it works out favorable for all parties involved.
Anytime I need some motivation to clean and organize, I just put on an episode of Hoarders. It works every time.
I was just looking at sold Challenge Coins on Ebay a few days ago! My husband bought some during a stop over at Wake Island last week. It’s an island of 94 people and a US Air Force Runway between Hawaii and Guam. Needless to say, not many people would have challenge coins from there. As he was telling me about it I realized that I have been given a number of these from federal law enforcement agencies back when I used to be a speaker at various government conferences years ago. I’m pretty sure I donated all of them to Goodwill as I had no idea at the time what use they could possible have.
It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of the woodwork on whether or not the inventory was securing a loan. If it was, the warehouse landlord didn’t have the right to sell it. Items found in storage units are different because they are rarely related to a business and rarely securing lines of credit. In this case, it was most definitely a business and it seems like too much merchandise for the original buyer to have purchased outright. Just like houses often have mortgage liens and cars can have title loans, inventory is often “secured” as a collateral by a bank, meaning if a loan goes sour, the bank then owns that inventory. In the U.S. the bank files a UCC filing, which is a legal notice that they own the inventory in event of a default. The UCC is filed at the time the loan is made. If the borrower up and leaves everything and the inventory disappears, I’m not sure what the bank does. Maybe they have insurance on it as they would require on a house or a car serving as collateral – it protects the bank so they aren’t left holding a worthless asset.
If the inventory isn’t securing a loan from the prior owner, then this guy got the best deal of a lifetime and I am so envious! Although since I do not have the resources nor wherewithal to deal with that much stuff, it would get out of hand for me quickly. He fortunately seems to have a lot of avenues to utilize in order to flip things quick.
The video series he did on the hoarder house was why I started watching him. That guy can work! He’d clear out a room in a day sometimes, it was amazing! The warehouse filled with toys is a different episode that he posted this week. It isn’t related to the hoarder house and I’m questioning if he has any legal right to the inventory.
My Goodwills also put a color of the week at 50% off starting every Sunday. However, they also start pulling that particular color from the shelves & racks starting on that same day. They continue to pull that color all week long until all are removed. They then sell those in very large bundles or they send them to a Goodwill Outlet. They simply have too many items to wait until the last day of the week to start removing the 50% merchandise from their shelves so they work on it a little bit all week long.
I am not one to socialize. I’ve lived in my current town for 7 years and up until a year ago, I only sort of knew maybe 4 people. But last year I started going to a personal trainer who offers small group classes 3 days a week. I try to never miss a class. As a result, in addition to being physically stronger and healthier, I now know dozens of people. There’s opportunities to hang out or do stuff with gym members outside of the gym if I want to – 5Ks, Christmas party, etc. but 1 hour 3 days a week is enough socialization for me right now.
