This is the 2nd Quarter thread for 2021 – in theory. It’s actually the 2nd Third, because I forgot to end the last thread in March! Of course 2021 is running skewed!
Post your Challenge numbers here for the week starting Monday May 3, and ending Sunday May 9, 2021. Numbers must be posted on Monday 10, and then each week going forward. You do not need permission to join, just post your numbers and I’ll add you in.
For information and rules on the Challenge, go here.

I’m so sorry you lost all that glorious writing! It’s always such a treat to read your posts each week. Hopefully the rest of the week goes better for you!

I’m posting early; I have to leave soon to check into the hotel by the hospital where my husband is having surgery. Please send us positive vibes on Monday morning!
38 new listings for me.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
05/10/2021 at 3:43 am #88593
Logging in early so I can send you, your family and especially your husband good wishes, VT. You’ll be in my thoughts. Hope everything goes well.
45 listings for me this week and 5 were for the May challenge.
Hope everyone has a good week ahead.
-
05/10/2021 at 8:53 am #88598
VT, hope everything goes well for your husband and you.
Goose egg for me again last week. Hopefully this should be my last busy week at work for a while and I can get some things listed. I need to unstuff my house.
-
05/10/2021 at 10:33 am #88603
15 for me – which makes the week my least productive this year. I think I’m already in vacation mode even though my vacation is a few weeks away.
1 met the May calendar – an Easter plate.
Well wishes to your husband, VT for a fast recovery.
-
05/10/2021 at 1:27 pm #88611
I had a decent week at 23. I had fewer distractions, and next week should be good as well.
Four met the May challenge. When I was in Pittsburgh last weekend, I picked up some items from the one person I do commissions for, and several were Jewish holiday items.
VT – Prayers to your husband for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
-
05/10/2021 at 3:52 pm #88619
Best wishes to your husband, VT! And for you to get through this with your sanity intact. I know how rough it is for the family members as well!
JR and I are riding the same train, and I think UtahBill is on it with us. Zeroes all the way, like big round train wheels! LOL
-
05/12/2021 at 9:41 am #88652
Oops! Sorry! I forgot. Gulp!
Spreadsheet updated, VL wins the week! Go you!
UtahBill hasn’t posted for several weeks so he has been retired. UtahBill, if you come back, I can reinstate you easily.
Looking at the numbers, I have been posting an average of 9 a week, with an original goal of 15. I’ve already adjusted my goal to 12, but I may change it down to 10. The ideal of the goal is to have a challenge, but it gets demotivating to see how far behind the numbers are falling – at least, to me. With 18 weeks of the year down already and an average of 9 listings per week, even 10 will be a challenge for me. I can always adjust up again later in the year if I start getting productive! In that light: JR, you have been posting an average of 5 a week, with a goal of 15; and Sharyn, you have been posting an average of 12 a week, with a goal of 20; do either of you want to make an adjustment? Just let me know.
-
05/12/2021 at 6:53 pm #88661
Amatino – Yes, let’s lower my goal to 15. I might have to lower it again because I’ve got another project at my part time job, but let’s see how this works out.

Thank you to all who sent good wishes on my husband’s surgery. It went well and he’s on the road to recovery now. We are both looking forward to putting this all behind us.
I managed 37 new listings, which I feel pretty good about considering I was gone from Sunday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
05/17/2021 at 2:50 pm #88742
15 for me last week, none of them can be remotely construed to meet the challenge, unbelievably.
Yes Amatino, can you reduce my goal to 10 per week? I don’t want to go lower and encourage my slacker self.
VT glad to hear about your husband, hope he has a speedy recovery.
-
05/17/2021 at 3:52 pm #88744
I listed 19.
I’ve started to get into my unlisted flatware, so I won’t have any additional listings against the challenge unless I find something to sneak in.
VT – So glad to hear that your husband’s surgery went well!
-
05/17/2021 at 7:02 pm #88749
38 for me. 1 met the May challenge.
I might get a couple listed this week but then I’m on VACATION! WHEEEEE!!! I’ll have almost two weeks of zero listings. It’s going to sting from an ebay/income perspective but at least I’ll be on a beach. 🙂
-
05/17/2021 at 8:12 pm #88750
It’s a beachy time of year apparently, as I just got back from spending a long weekend at the beach, the glorious Cannon Beach, this time. Hope you have a wonderful time Julie!
VT, so glad your husband is doing well.
25 listings for me this week (none for the May challenge), but I did some fun picking and have lots of interesting things to list, so hope to add to my “seasonal” count this coming week.
-
05/18/2021 at 7:25 pm #88771
Memo to me: don’t try to edit a post after you’ve posted it or the Forum eats it! The good news is… I saved a copy before I hit submit! I learned! However, it appears that I cannot repost the saved copy, as the Forum says I already said that. So I shall have to confuzzle the bots and do a bit of a switcheroo!
Spreadsheet updated! Sharyn and JR, your numbers have been adjusted accordingly. VT – do you want to change yours from 10 up to 15? You’re so far ahead of your annual goal, you’re halfway into next year! LOL Congratulations on your high listings, even being away. You juuuuust got beat, by one measly listing! JB took the win this week! Congrats, JB, but you and VL need to pay attention to your rear view mirrors! It looks like VT is on a rrrrrrroll! 😀
Another goose egg from me. I got a bad case of the Druthers. I have 4 businesses to take care of and I felt like I was constantly on a back foot, continually trying to catch up. I got completely fed up and decided I was going to catch up, once and for all! The week before last was dedicated to cleaning up the cabin and, boy, what a job that was! Now, I can’t believe I’m sharing this mess on the interwebz, but I love you guys, so here was the before and here is the after! Since the 2nd video was taken, I’ve cleared up even more. I couldn’t really work in the chaos there, now it’s exciting to get there and keep on with the work. It’s a long and complicated story about why it got like that, but the short version is that Dearly-Beloved-and-Not-Murdered-Yet Husband wanted “all this sh*t out of the house!” Well for him, crisis for me. I’m still clearing up a few things, but I expect to be back to listing this week.
Last week was the other business. I’m migrating all the businesses except eBay to this new invoicing software I’ve been using for DBNMH’s business. It’s a huge task to migrate, because the software isn’t configured for this kind of business, so I’m drawing on my accounting training to force it to comply during set up. My poor CPA keeps getting emails along the lines of “if I configure Improvements into an Asset account and then debit Bank, is that correct? Or do I have to Expense it?” Poor lady! She has been so incredibly patient with me! Of course, it will help her out next year come tax time when she gets a nice, printed report instead of the Excel hash-sheet she currently has to decipher! LOL
For the first time in I can’t remember how long, I feel like I have a handle on what’s going on and I see a light in the tunnel that may not be an oncoming train! I’m thrilled to take a deep breath and have some time for me! Of course, me time has been filled with a new belly dance choreography and, oh, 9? I think. Maybe 8? sewing projects that I’m finishing up. Plus, I’ve revamped and rearranged some of the house. It’s looking wonderful!
Next week I need to stop slacking off and get some work done! 😉
-
05/18/2021 at 8:15 pm #88773
@Amatino –
Not to nit pick or anything, but I think the shed looks better with a dog and a cat whether it is organized or not!
And, shouldn’t the acronym be DBNMYH? Rather than DBNMH. Gotta keep the grammar in check.
Anyway, congrats on the work well done! It should help well into the future.
-
05/24/2021 at 11:31 am #88834
17 listings for me this week. I need to snap out of my listing doldrums! I have great stuff to list…..
I agree with Sharyn, Amatino. I love seeing your fur babies in the shed. But I can appreciate how hard you worked to organize and clean it up! Great job! Especially when fighting the druthers. I know how that goes all too well.
It’s the last week of the month…let’s make it a great one!
-
05/24/2021 at 11:52 am #88835
I created 23 listings last week.
This week is going to be crazy busy, so I don’t think I will post as many next time.
-
05/24/2021 at 12:43 pm #88836
35 new listings for me. 3 met the May challenge criteria.
I’m pleased with my listing numbers again this week. Considering I’m still caring for my hubs post-op (which seems to be more time consuming rather than less as he recovers) as well as finding out I need a root canal, I’m feeling good about getting 35 new listings up. I’m actually relieved to find out I’ve been exhausted because I’ve had a massive infection (according to my dentist) for the last month. I thought I just wasn’t handling stress well. I’m looking forward to feeling better soon.
Wishing everyone a wonderful last week of May!
-
05/25/2021 at 6:48 am #88845
1 for me last week, ugh. Didn’t qualify for the May challenge.
VT, I’m glad they were able to diagnose you and hope that means you’ll be on the mend soon!
-
05/25/2021 at 12:07 pm #88850
Hey folks! Thanks for your comments on the fur babies. Actually, they’re always in and out of the cabin. They come and go at whim. They came in with me when I first got there, which is why they were in the first video, but got bored and left by the time I took the 2nd video (which was, to be fair, a day or so later!) My furbles have carte blanche and, if you look at the 2nd video again, you’ll see the red dog bed on the floor in front of the quilt frame. I always have space for them.
VT, glad you cleared up your exhaustion, although I’m sorry it’s root canal! I send best wishes that it goes quickly and well, and that you’re back on your feet and feeling fabulous! And, as an extra special pick-me-up…
Spreadsheet updated. VT wins! Go VT go! 😀
Zero for me again this week. I’ve had quite the week! Our chicken coop was in need of some structural modifications, we needed to cut away the floor so that the poop fell out of the roost area onto the ground below, and I did that safely. However, despite using scissors, huge knives, razor blades, and a giant oscillating saw with no injury whatsoever, when I jumped down out of the roost, I fell off balance, face planting into one of the freshly cut wooden struts and bouncing off it like one of Forrest Gump’s ping pong balls! I’m very blessed to have a robust circulatory system and I very seldom bruise at all, so I don’t look like a member of the Walking Dead. And I’m on prescription anti-inflammatories, so the swelling was restrained as well! I don’t scare small children when I walk on the streets, and nobody glares at my husband when we’re out together! The downside of this magnificent physique, though, is that it’s very difficult to convince doctor’s that there is, in fact, something wrong! (When my neck was broken in 3 places, it took 4 years for them to take me seriously!) Fortunately my chiropractor is used to my brilliant healing and superhuman pain threshold, and took a look. I may have a hairline fracture, but seeing as they can’t put my head in a cast (now that WOULD scare small children!) I just have to take it easy until the pain settles down, and try not to sneeze or blow my nose. Huh. Ahhhhh chooooo!
We also got a new rescue. This is dog #6 in five months! However, once she gets her vet clearance on Thursday, she’ll be up for adoption and we’re going to put in for her. She has been the best fit for our family and she is considered “too ugly to place”, so none of the Rescue organizations want to take her. Well, we think she’s beautiful! She is older, about 4 years, and there are some odd qualities, but to us, she’s the best. Here she is, chillin’ like a boss!
-
05/25/2021 at 10:27 pm #88854
Update: two furbles in the cabin with me today. Only one (red) dog bed, so I “made” another using polystyrene and sheets, and both dogs wanted it! So now I had 2 beds, but both dogs on the new one, and the old boy looking SO offended! I couldn’t help laughing and snapped a photo for you to enjoy.

05/31/2021 at 1:53 pm #88953
I’m usually not the first to post but I guess everyone is out enjoying the holiday, I hope!
65 listings for the week, and 17 were for the May challenge.
Love the dog pictures Amatino! (and the couch)
-
05/31/2021 at 2:58 pm #88955
Only 21 new listings for me. 1 met the seasonal challenge. I thought I’d manage more but the root canal knocked me for a loop. Speaking of being knocked for a loop: Amatino, your story sounds like an I Love Lucy episode but unfortunately with injuries. I hope you are on the mend!
Wishing everyone a happy Memorial Day and a great week ahead!
-
05/31/2021 at 5:49 pm #88959
Just wanted to pop in and say I miss you all and reporting in weekly! Some things had to give in my schedule to make room for new ventures, but I am still thinking of you all and wishing you great listing numbers! I am still listing like a maniac, but have shifted some things around.
Still love to listen every week to Scavenger Life, and hopefully when my schedule allows, I will get back to this forum and challenges!
Wishing you all the best, hope you are having a lovely weekend!-Libby

@Vintage Lacy – I’m rarely the first person to post because I’d rather wait to get the link from someone else’s post rather than search for it. LOL
I listed a big fat zero.
Here was my week: Prep for colonoscopy, colonoscopy, prep for design review at work, design review, pack up a 92 piece set of china in three boxes that was local pickup but purchased by someone in Alabama, and I finally agreed to ship it (for a price, of course).

05/31/2021 at 8:39 pm #88962
And, Amatino, all your furbabies are gorgeous. How is a dog too ugly to place?

Heyyyyyy Folks!
Wow, VL, what a win for the week! Awesomeness! Spreadsheet updated!
Thanks for the kind words on the dogs. I now have TWO rescues, having been asked to take in an emergency mutt on Thursday. This one is an elderly medical case who is going to Oregon on June 9th, but needed care until then. She has not been abused, but she has been neglected. It took us the entire weekend to get her to accept us and to run with freedom on the ranch, but we have finally made it. I will add photos at the end of this post. One with her (in the cabin, of course) and one with Toffee running happily in the wildflowers.
However, this put paid to my best efforts to list this week, so I only racked up 7 new listings. And this thanks once again to my Bestie, who quietly nudged me to get some up. Not only did I have to care for 2 rescues, but I also had our anniversary and Himself’s birthday, which resulted in a few visitors and a surprise stayover from the MIL. She left this morning and now I’m frantically catching up with the last 4 days ToDos.
End of May was the end of the May challenge and wow, did VL ever wipe the floor with the rest of us! 22 items gives her a resounding win! Sharyn and VT tied for 2nd with 4 each, and JB got 3rd with her 2. Nobody else participated. Well done, folks. Well done!
Here’s Ruby:

JUNE CHALLENGE: PERSONAL ITEMS!
Look around your lovely abode. What junk do you have cluttering up the corners, counters, and any horizontal surfaces? (Remember… the floor is a horizontal surface too!)
Lift that fugly ceramic bowl Aunt Mavis gave you 32 years ago. Pick up that golf bag that you haven’t used in two decades because the membership fees are insane! Grab that black sweater that costs a fortune and you snapped it up on sale for a tenth of the price but it itches so damn much you never wear it. Do the fastest research on the planet! AND LIST THAT CLUTTER!
Yup, this month is all about listing stuff YOU own. Not Death Piles, not yard sale finds, not Auction wins and Bargain Basement buys. Nope. You’re going to bless yourself (and the rest of your long-suffering family) with some major cleaning out of YOUR home. It’s June, traditionally the month of great weather and outdoorsy extravaganzas. Good month to do some spring cleaning, yes?
If you want to donate a pile of stuff that isn’t worth listing, please go ahead! In fact, in the spirit of the clean up, I’m going to create a POP UP CHALLENGE! For every bag or box (or item, if it’s too big to fit in a bag or box) that you donate, you get one point!
Ready? Go!
No, I don’t care if you’re not ready. Go anyway!
-
06/01/2021 at 3:13 pm #88980
P.S. Libby! We miss you too! I figured the new podcasts and stuff were taking up most of your time, but we’d love to have you back.
Sharyn, sympathies on the colonoscopy! Hope it and the design review went well.
Toffee is, most assuredly, a mutt. My Bestie said she has Yoda ears (apt, and funny) and her heritage is very hard to determine. Trying to fill in the line that says “Breed” is an exercise in arguments. Nobody has managed to narrow her down much further than “dog.” Furthermore, she is what is known as “dirt colored.” Apparently, nobody likes dogs that look like dirt. Lastly, clocking in at 4 years old, she’s neither lively nor active. She doesn’t chase balls or play with toys. She doesn’t jump and run. She’s not likely to appeal to a large portion of the doggy adoption market. She’s an old, inactive, funny-eared dirt dog. But all of these things mean she is a perfect fit for us. As my grandmother told me: Every pot has its lid! 😉

06/03/2021 at 10:13 am #89026
I’m back from vacation and ready to work! Before I left for vacation I posted 6 items for week 20. I’m not actually sure what week we’re on now….
This was our longest vacation ever – 1 week and 5 days. Our cats were VERY happy to see us and barely let us sleep last night. Later today we pick up the dog from doggie daycare. I wish I could get him now but he’s scheduled for a bath before he leaves so we can’t get him until 4pm.
We live in GA and have been making trips around GA & FL to determine what beach we’d like to move to. Some places we stay a single night and other places we stay several. We will definitely be going back to Jekyll Island, GA, Key West (I’ve been there 3 times now) and Sanibel Island. I probably don’t need to visit St Simons Island again and definitely not Hutchinson Island.
Before I left for vacation I super cleaned my ebay room. Man was it nice walking into it when we got home – so open and organized. I can hardly wait to start shipping this morning. I turned all of my platforms off while I was away, turned them back on during the drive home and already have 5 sales.
-
06/03/2021 at 5:48 pm #89065
@amatino – It’s all good; I was just busy. However, the prep for the colonoscopy was not fun AT ALL.
@julie-b – I have the opportunity to go to Sanibel Island the first week of July, but it depends on my son’t summer job. My sister is renting out a house there with my parents, and they have an extra room. I’d have to get us there, but the lodging would be free. -
06/07/2021 at 12:35 pm #89166
I listed 21 items this week.
Interestingly, I had just cleaned out my nightstand drawer right before Amatino listed this month’s challenge. Nothing in that drawer was good for listing, so I organized the compartment underneath and looked through some storage in my closet. I’ve listed five personal items, and I’m researching the other stuff, mostly jewelry and watches, that I will be listing.
Some of the stuff not worth listing was offered up on my local Freecycling Facebook page, and I’ve had two people pick up and one in an hour or two. So, I think that meets the pop-up “donate” challenge of one “bag”.
-
06/07/2021 at 1:03 pm #89168
I listed 47 items this week. All were from a big box that’s been sitting in my garage for the last 9 years. Felt good to get a death pile box gone, even though it’s not part of the challenge! I did gather up 3 boxes of items to donate and they are sitting in the car waiting to be driven there tomorrow, so that counts towards the other part of the challenge, I hope.
We’ve been working on getting the wedding invites ready to mail. Charlie and I screen printed our wedding motto WHERE THERE IS TEA THERE IS LOVE onto white flour sack tea towels. I found “Wedding Breakfast” tea from Fortnum & Mason and that will go into the invite parcel as well. We’re having our wedding party at the most fantastic tea shop in the Portland area, so everything is tea related. After all, we’ll be honeymooning in England next May!
On a more somber note, I’ve also been dealing with elder abuse issues with my dad, again. We thought we had resolved it last summer but it’s reared it’s ugly head again. It’s messy and ugly and not an easy thing to fix but my brothers and I are determined to make whatever time he has left the best possible. It’s depressing.
Sharyn, you certainly had a challenging week before last. I’m impressed by your organizing skills though. I could take some lessons from you! VT I sure hope you have recovered from your root canal and are feeling better than ever. That stuff is never fun. Julie, I am envious of your vacation! All those beaches! I have been to Key West and loved it, but not the other places you mentioned. Mixing research and travelling sounds like the perfect vacation. Amatino, more sweet fur baby pics anytime you feel like it. It makes us smile! Toffee is adorable.
I hope everyone has a great week ahead!
-
06/07/2021 at 4:37 pm #89188
Hi Everyone!
I only listed 11 items last week. During the first part of the week I was still recovering from my root canal, it took a full week before my jaw stopped aching. Since I didn’t feel like listing I did some requested (by my hubs) donations of unlisted eBay inventory. I ended up with 3 bags to donate, 2 of which were after the pop-up challenge started, so yippee for that!
Then on Wednesday we took a 3 day trip up to the mountains, which was lovely. But that left just Saturday and Sunday to list. I don’t think this week will be any better as we are having a houseguest from Wednesday thru Saturday and before that I’ll be working on getting ready for having a houseguest. Along with other already scheduled activities it’ll be a busy week for me.
VL I’m so sorry to hear about the elder abuse. You must be so upset! But it sounds like you are getting it sorted and stopped, plus you have the support of your siblings, so that’s good to hear. And you have lovely wedding plans to work on!!!
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
06/07/2021 at 6:59 pm #89191
11 items for me which I got in under the wire. I need to get serious about ramping up my listings. Between vacation and some other thing I’ve been burning through cash at a frenetic pace.
@sharyn – I heartily recommend Sanibel. Except for one busy road, it is so quiet and slow paced. It was the only time on the vacation we were actually felt like we were fully relaxing. -
06/07/2021 at 7:17 pm #89192
0 for me (again). I seriously need to get myself in gear. The donate challenge will be good for me because we are on a mission to de-hoardify our basement.
VL, sorry you are dealing with the issues with your dad. Hope they get sorted soon. What a fun place to have your wedding party!
-
06/08/2021 at 9:50 am #89199
@Junque-redux “De-hoardify” is going into my permanent vocabulary. Our basement also needs to be de-hoardified. Hehe.
To get into gear to list, if it’s a motivation problem try listing one item, right now as soon as you read this (if you’re at home). It’s along the lines of Mel Robbin’s Ted Talk about how motivation is garbage. If I waited to be motivated, I’d never get anything started. Mel has made a million dollar career for herself selling self help books based entirely on her 5 second motivation philosophy. It basically boils down to forcing yourself to do something within 5 seconds of thinking about it before your brain can talk you out of it.

06/08/2021 at 2:39 pm #89216
JB, added your Week 20 items. We’ve just completed week 22, and I added your 11 listing there. Sounds like a great vacation. Are you prepped for the hurricanes that accompany beach life? That’s one of the reasons we decided NOT to live in Corpus Christi. The other was the humidity.
VL, your wedding sounds amazing! Sorry about your dad though. That’s so terrible.
JB, I bought her audiobook with the 5 second rule. Interesting listen. However, what I really found interesting this past week was this 100-year old hack that seems like it could work for me. I operate better on the KISS principle. Any time it’s complicated, I get distracted. Nothing like my butterfly brain! For those who want the quick ‘n dirty, here it is:
- At the end of each workday, write down the six most important things you need to accomplish tomorrow. Do not write down more than six tasks.
- Prioritize those six items in order of their true importance.
- When you arrive tomorrow, concentrate only on the first task. Work until the first task is finished before moving on to the second task.
- Approach the rest of your list in the same fashion. At the end of the day, move any unfinished items to a new list of six tasks for the following day.
- Repeat this process every working day.
You don’t have to read the article, although it is interesting. And you don’t have to do six tasks. You could do 4. Or 7. But the article says don’t choose too many. Keep the task list short. You can always fill your day with other To Dos if you finish all 4. For me, the one quote that really slapped me upside the head was this:
Basically, if you commit to nothing, you’ll be distracted by everything.
Spreadsheet updated. VL takes the win! Thrilled to see the Pop Up Challenge is working! JR, you could get into the de-hoardifying (love it!) and win this one! An entire basement? I don’t know we could compete! LOL
-

Sounds like JR, JB and I each have an entire basement to de-hordify. And wouldn’t my hubs be thrilled if I actually did that! My new rule for myself is if I have time to list but I don’t want to list, then I have to work on the basement instead. It’s very inspiring in motivating me to list!
JB: I totally love Mel Robbins’ 5 second rule. It also works well when I’m afraid to do something; like make a doctor or dental appointment. Doing something quickly before my brain has a chance to tell me why I shouldn’t works very well for me.

29 items for me. 6 meet the June challenge – all clothes from my closet that I have no hope of ever fitting into again.
I need to get my arse in gear and list like a fiend! Between taking a long vacation and vet trips to care for pets I feel like I’m hemorrhaging money!

06/14/2021 at 11:58 am #89289
26 new listings for me. I had a busy week with our house guest but I did manage to eke out a little time to list.
With less planned distractions this week I’m hoping to get a higher # of new listings up. I’m also planning to put some time into the pop-up and June challenges this week – which coincide perfectly with my plan to de-hoardify (thanks for the great term, junque redux!) my basement.
Wishing everyone a fun and profitable week!

06/14/2021 at 1:06 pm #89292
I listed 8 items and all but one met the challenge. What fun to sell stuff sitting around in drawers for years! Decades!
@Julie-b – Oh, how I hear you! And the pandemic has not helped. Recently, I tried on different pants for a dinner out, and I determined that I do not have any chance in hell of ever wearing two of them again. There are more in the closet, I’m sure. Also, the trip to Sanibel is on! I bought my auto train tickets, and I am planning some activities with my sister. On our way home, I will stop off at my parents’ house and pack my car with the free items their downsizing friends have given them. We’ve decided that they will no longer collect so much stuff again because it “hoardifies” their home, and I’m not listing as much since I now have a part time job.

I’m back! Sorry I have been AWOL for so long. Mobile listing while I was a campground host in a remote area just didn’t work out as I planned. The technology was effective, but there were just to many interruptions and distractions. Anyway, I will be home for the remainder of the year and I am going to really amp up my listing game.
This last week I listed 40 items. That includes Sunday (yesterday) I can’t remember if Sunday is included in last weeks total or if it starts the new week? Please advise. 🙂 It would be much appreciated if you could update my data in the spreadsheet. All weeks since my last posting were 0 🙁
My goal is to have a 1000 listings up by the end of the year. It will be tough but I can do it!
Have a great week and great sales.

Ack! I forgot to post yesterday! The day just got away from me, but then last week did too. You ever have weeks where you can’t exactly pinpoint why you are so busy, you just are? That was last week for me.
26 listings and none met the June challenge. I already listed 10 items for this week so it certainly will be a better listing week for me….or should be, I don’t want to jinx it! Ha!
Hope y’all have a good week.
-
06/15/2021 at 9:53 pm #89317
Wow, UtahBill, you came back with a vengeance! You won the week! Go you! 😀
Great week, everyone. You all seem to be loving this month’s challenge. I have gotten as far as digging stuff out of the closet, but I’ve done no listing yet. Still resolving off eBay situations. Ruby the Rescue decided to throw up blood the weekend before the Wednesday she was due to leave, so she had to stay for more tests. Of course, she hasn’t thrown up blood since. Well played, Rubes, well played!
For those who enjoy the furbles, here they are on this morning’s dawn walks! That’s Ruby the Rescue (as my Bestie nicknamed her) on the left and Toffee on the right.

@Amatino – those dogs look like they’re living their best lives! 🙂
My cat Bob developed a serious UTI case (probably from stress when we were away on vacation.) So he had a Vet ER trip on Friday night to make sure it wasn’t a urinary blockage. We have pet pads all over the house this week because he’s straining to go quite a bit. He’s only now starting to show some improvement. Poor guy. We have 3 pets and it’s always something….
-
06/16/2021 at 3:47 pm #89327
Julie B – I feel your pain regarding your pets. Because of our elderly and health challenged cats my husband and I had been waiting years to travel. Finally our last pet passed away and while we were grieving at least we knew that we’d finally be able to travel internationally for long periods without pet worries. 2 weeks after that we were in lockdown due to Covid. Sigh.
-
06/17/2021 at 10:42 am #89333
JB, I had a cat who kept developing UTIs and, in the end, the vet castrated him! I was horrified, but the vet explained that he would now kinda go-like-a-girl and, without the narrowing of the urethra along the length of the penis, any urinary crystals or similar would be expelled easier. He also told me not to feed the cat fish, as fish is known to cause crystals. Dunno if that was the correct deduction, but my cat didn’t have another UTI again ever.
Cats and UTIs are a major problem, and you feel so bad for the cat while it’s in pain! I hope your precious furble feels better soon.

I finally broke the 400 listings mark. Next stop 500!
Good sales to all and to all a good night.
-
06/17/2021 at 8:36 pm #89336
Congrats Utahbill!
I just broke the 700 listings mark. It’s been a struggle to get there, but now that my store sales are slow I finally made it.
Good sales to you too!

Up and at ’em, y’all! It’s Monday morning and I must have just the right amount of coffee coursing through my veins because I’m a bit hyper. Hopefully this feeling will last me through my Monday morning workout.
53 listings this week, 5 met the challenge.
This week I’m hoping to concentrate on listing hard goods. They’ve been taking a backseat to clothing. I have my photography area set up for hard goods so all I need to do is get at it.
-
06/21/2021 at 8:55 am #89373
Ooh, Julie B, you are a morning person. Nope, not me. I’ve had my coffee, but not there yet. Congrats on your great week of listing, though!
I listed 7 items. Five met the challenge.
I bid on two online auctions last week and worked on organizing the items right away rather than putting them in storage / death piles. I hope to get most of them listed this week, so my numbers should be better next time.
-
06/21/2021 at 9:35 am #89380
I’m a morning person too; I usually get up around 5 am.
I had 32 new listings this week. 4 items met the June challenge, and 1 met the pop-up challenge. For the pop-up challenge every time I fill a garbage bag with items and donate it I consider that 1 point. After 4 bags of donations my basement is finally looking marginally better.
Wishing everyone a productive week!
-
06/21/2021 at 9:57 am #89383
Only 3 for me. One met the June challenge. I have limited energy right now due to some health issues and have had to prioritize work and other life stuff over ebay. I’m hoping the doctor will waive his magic wand next week and set me to rights.
I appreciated everyone’s motivational tips earlier. One thing they made me realize is that since I had achieved the goal I set out to fund with my ebay earnings (some specific home improvements), I lost focus a little bit. I have identified some new goals and I think that will help me once I get the health stuff figured out (fingers crossed).

06/21/2021 at 5:02 pm #89387
Some of y’all get up way too early (grin), but then I’ve always been a night owl. I get my best work done sometimes late at night.
33 listings for me this week, which I am happy with because my beloved niece is visiting and I am greatly distracted, but in a very good way. None of my listings fit any of the challenges going on right now.
She leaves on Thursday so this week might be slower too….we’ll see.
I won a unicorn at auction this week and I couldn’t be more excited. Not a real unicorn of course, but something that’s been haunting me for a long time. 10 years ago I went on a trip through the south with my mom and my niece and we stopped in an antique mall somewhere in rural Alabama. I fell in love with, of all things, a vintage cash register there. It was expensive and heavy and would have cost a fortune to ship it back home so I left it behind and to this day I think about that cash register from time to time. I’ve never seen another like it. Last weekend there was a local online auction and lo and behold they were selling the most beautiful antique cash register, with a sticker on the bottom with the original sale date-1919. Can you imagine? AND I WON IT! and didn’t pay a fortune for it! I am over the moon, and it already has been put in a place of honor in my studio. I know it’s a silly thing to get so excited about….but I don’t care.
Hope you start feeling better JR and hope everyone has a great week!
-
06/22/2021 at 11:40 am #89399
I love the look of old cash registers too. A store on main street growing up in the 80s called Spurgeon’s used one of those old giant registers. I was always fascinated by it. If I ever have a brick and mortar store (not likely), I’d want one of those registers even if it was just for display.

Posting a little late, but I managed to list 20 items last week. Last Friday I hit a local estate sale and picked up some nice items. Time to get listing!
Have a great week everyone!

06/23/2021 at 5:44 pm #89443
Hey everyone, sorry for the late posting.
Spreadsheet updated, and JulieB wins the week. Well done!
Congratulations, UtahBill and VT, on meeting your respective hundreds! Great job!
I’m a morning person too! Normally up at dawn to open up for all the animals to go out, to let the chickens out to free range, and to take the rescue furbles on their morning perambulations. There’s a joke in our family that my dad and I are solar powered – we get up with the barest sliver of light, but we crash when it gets dark! LOL. They also say we have two speeds: on… and off. It’s very tiring being around us, apparently. 😀
Sorry you don’t feel well, JR. Sending best wishes that you feel better soon. Goals certainly do help as motivators.
What a terrific unicorn, VL. Those old registers are glorious, aren’t they?
Have a great week, you guys. Final stretch for the challenge and for the pop up too. Get those donations… er… donated!
-
06/28/2021 at 9:34 am #89495
Good morning, all. 🙂
Having weird weather this week? Must be – I actually listed something. Well, TWO somethings! And I got rid of junk via donations, so I have been busy.
You may have noticed my zeroes just lately. I’ve had to haul back on eBay as my life has been crazy. With 4 businesses, 2 rescue dogs, a ranch, a husband, family, taxes, property appraisals just went up over 100% (what joy!), and not being well, I was overextended. After considering what would have the least impact if it was put on the backburner, I parked eBay for a while. It’s not my primary source of income, 2 of the other businesses are active-dealing-with-people, so they couldn’t be parked, and the 4th one requires constant plodding. It has not been helpful that the internet at my cabin has been dreadful, either!
Some teeth grinding, some temper tantrums, some tears, and an interesting foray into self-education (more on that to come), soon I will be picking up eBay again. After investigation, we decided it was worth the expense to install my own internet in the cabin. We’ve had the engineer’s inspection, and the trencher has been to install the underground piping. Now I wait for the technicians to connect the box. Then my husband has to run the cabling and install the router. It used to be his field, before he “retired” and went into his current business, and it will be cheaper for him to do it than to pay them. So… maybe another two weeks? Either way, it looks like I will be moving into the 2nd half of the year in a better position.
Yesterday I spent most of the day working on my dance business, doing my half-year planning schedule and putting together my proposal for the primary activities and class outline. It needs to be done, because the Center at which I teach runs their catalog months in advance. It’s an interesting exercise when you’re already doing an overhaul of your life, you start looking into how the same form of planning could work in other areas. I think taking time out to step back and look at your life critically, map out some milestones, and design your way forward, is a great tool for productivity. Why don’t they teach this stuff in school?
Wishing you all a great week!

06/28/2021 at 9:57 am #89496
I listed 29 this weeks. All books, which are so easy to do, even though many are older and don’t have ISBNs. These were all from an online auction purchase from over a week ago, so none made the challenge.
As far as the popup challenge, I had two larger items I decided to give away instead of listing, and I’ve been giving away kitchen stuff I don’t want to list from the same purchase as the books. The books that I decided not to list were given to a new bookstore/art space that was recently opened in a city near to my town. I’ll make that three additional “bags” of stuff for a total of four for the challenge.
Amatino – All those things going on in your life are good problems to have, except the not being well part. I hope you are feeling better. Don’t overextend yourself; the nice thing about eBay is that it can be put aside for awhile and will still be there when you get back to it.
I hope that everyone has a great week!

06/28/2021 at 11:38 am #89499
Well. Apparently yesterday we had the dubious honor of being the hottest place on the planet. That’s right, you’d be cooler in the Sahara desert. It’s been a challenge, to say the least. I’ve been spending 2 hours a day watering, trying to save our plants. Today’s going to be yet another scorcher and then we “cool down” to 95 or so for the rest of the week. Fortunately, we have AC, which many don’t in the PNW. Feeling pretty lucky about that. The silver lining for me is that I had scored a massive pile of fabric earlier last week and have been listing, listing, listing.
72 listings for me last week. None met the monthly challenge.
Amatino, you are a force to be reckoned with and I have no doubt you will meet these current challenges with fortitude and your wicked sense of humor. Hoping both you and JR are feeling better really really soon.
Julie, I had a brick and mortar shop for 13 years–2004 to 2017 and I would have LOVED to have a vintage cash register on site. It would have added so much to the vibe!
Here’s wishing everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!

06/28/2021 at 12:12 pm #89500
I listed 33 items last week. I find that when I list in the morning it’s much easier and quicker for me while I am fresh. Sales remain dismal, but I am confident that they will be better in the fall. So, I continue to fill the pipe line.
Amatino- I hope you feel better soon. I try to continually evaluate my life and plans to try and improve. However, its much easier to determine what you need to do than to to do it. 🙂
Everyone have an incredible week!
-
06/28/2021 at 3:46 pm #89503
I listed 37 items for the week. 4 met the pop-up criteria. I believe I have 8 for the pop-up now and 3 for the June challenge?
Utahbill, I’m with you – I find if I get started listing early in the morning I get a lot more listings up. One of the eBay sellers I watch on YouTube said that they find their sales take two weeks to a month to catch up to the amount they are listing. I’ve found that to be true, my sales while listing 10 items a week were dismal, and it took some time for my sales to increase after I started listing more. Now my sales are fairly good consistantly. So I hope you will find your sales catch up as you continue to list higher numbers consistently.
Sorry to hear two of our wonderful members are not feeling well. Sending healing vibes to Amatino and junque redux. And VL I’m glad to hear you have A/C! Global warming is a killer.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week and a fun filled July 4th!

VT- Thanks for the encouraging words. How many listings per week did it take for your sales to improve?
-
-
06/28/2021 at 4:25 pm #89504
34 listings for me – pretty good as I was away visiting the in laws on what are usually my busiest listing days. Just got back an hour ago and have lots of shipping to catch up on.
2 items meet the June challenge.
Try to stay cool, everyone!
-
06/29/2021 at 9:26 am #89513
Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. I see the doctor on Thursday, fingers crossed.
I lost track of what weeks I’ve posted, but whatever I haven’t, it’s 0.
Amatino, you continue to face a multitude of challenges with humor. That’s a win in my book, no matter what your listings look like.
VL, having lived in PDX years ago, I just can’t imagine the temperatures that you’re having right now. So glad you have AC.
A good week to all!
-
06/29/2021 at 3:55 pm #89516
Utahbill – I was listing approximately 10 per week, for the past couple of months I’ve ramped it up to around 30 a week.

Hey folks! Late again with the spreadsheet. I have a doctor’s note for it, though. Almost all my test results came in. Negative for COVID, Mono, and a host of other unpronounceable oddities, but positive for Epstein-Barr Virus. I feel like I stepped into the road and got hit by a bus. Or the worst flu you’ve ever had, but without the runny nose and streaming eyes. Apparently, EBV is prevalent in the States, with 9 out of 10 adults carrying the antibodies. It’s usually a “young person disease.” No, I’m not young, but obviously my immune system begs to differ!
What do I plan to do about it? The usual. Nothing. I shall power on regardless. Anyone see the Walking Dead TV series? Well, no, I’m not in costume nor am I an extra. That’s just how I look nowadays. Gimme a W! Gimme an A! Gimme… oh, just gimme some energy and a couple more hours in the day. Ha!
Okay, on to the important stuffs. VL got a fright that she was being caught up, put on a dash of speed, and covered the rest of us in dust as she rocketed to a win! LOL
Sharyn, despite everyone else bragging about their de-hoardify plans, quietly put her head down and won the June Challenge, with JB probably surprising herself with 2nd place. VT clocked 3rd and JR got a participation point. Betcha never expected that, JR? LOL
However, VT had you guys beat hands down for the Pop Up challenge, with Sharyn slipping to 2nd, and VL bringing in the bronze.
Great going, everyone. I think this was a popular challenge. Wishing you all a wonderful week and a very happy Fourth!

Good morning! Hope you all had a fantastic 4th and are ready and raring to get your listings up to speed in this second half of the year!
My cabin has internet! Happy Snoopy Dance! And… ooh oooh ooh… this is so exciting! I can put my computer anywhere in the cabin, so it has been moved to the eBay section, where it was originally designed to go AND I’ve upgraded it from laptop to desktop. I know that sounds irrelevant, but the change in screen size is huge and the functionality is even bigger. I do a fair whack of editing on my photos, plus research information, etc. In the past, I would save my photos to Dropbox and then edit them once I got back to the house. Now, all in place, baby, all in place. Yeah!
Of course, working with my laptop set up in the corner next to the window facing the nearest point to the Wi-Fi extender meant that all my work had gravitated to the new spot. Installing the new computer entailed some rearranging and, looking around the cabin with no small frustration, I decided that some attention needs to be devoted to organization. Despite having deliberately designed the cabin to work with my system, there are still some tweaks to be made, mostly to do with working in the cabin itself more than the system. So I have given myself the month of July to put my cabin in order. Then I plan to move my sewing machines into their designated spot, and work on the other half of the cabin with my sewing set up over August.
All this, plus being laid up for most of the week feeling very sorry for myself, meant that I only got 4 listings up. However, I GOT 4 LISTINGS UP! Gonna take that as a win!
Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead, a very productive July, and let me remind you there are only 25 Fridays until Christmas! Get listing now, make a killing in December! 😀

Happy July, y’all! Hope you had a fun 4th. We did a quick road trip down to Coos Bay to work on wedding details. We wanted to check out a possible wedding dinner venue and also a local bakery and talk to them about doing our wedding cake. The bakery and owner were absolutely lovely and we had the best time with her designing our perfect cake. The possible dinner venue? Not so much. The reviews online were quite good…and the photos of the place looked nice….there’s a tent structure beside the restaurant for outdoor dining, filled with hanging flower baskets, which looked very promising. We ate lunch there and were troubled by the constant road traffic noise, as the restaurant is on a busy street, as well as noticing other bothersome details. The service was non-existent the 2nd half of our meal, which was worrisome. BUT, worst of all, there was a large human HAIR in a piece of Charlie’s fish and chips. Stomach churning. NOPE. nope nope nope.
We mentioned all this to the bakery owner and she suggested another local seafood restaurant. We went to check it out and it’s charming! There’s a covered patio area that overlooks Charleston Bay and the staff was so friendly and helpful. It has an amazing vibe and we booked our dinner, and all is well in the world! There’s much relief in working out all these details.
And I did manage to get 42 listings up as well….this week will be much slower I suspect, as my 15-yr-old nephew is coming tomorrow for a visit with his auntie. And, 20 of the listings go towards the July challenge! Boom!
Hope everyone as a splendid first full week of July!

Wow, I got a point? Amazing.
Visited the pulmonologist, found out I have asthma. After all the other things I was imagining, I’ll take that as a win. Already the meds are making me feel better. I can walk to the mailbox without getting winded now, so I guess I need to get moving on the listings so I’ll have something to put in it! 0 for me this past week though.
Amatino, I hope you are likewise feeling better soon.
VL, sounds like a fun trip. I’ll bet it feels good to get some of those details worked out!
Good luck to everyone this week.

07/05/2021 at 1:15 pm #89558
55 new listings for me. I got a bee in my bonnet and wanted to make it to 750 active listings last week; I’m happy to say that I did it. It’s amazing what one can accomplish with determination and dedication. 800 next!
junque-redux & Amatino: I’m glad to hear that your health issues have been figured out, so you can at least move on from the fear of the unknown…
Vintage Lacy: It’s lovely to hear that you’ve found a nice wedding venue and have designed and ordered your cake. Do you have your dress and rings yet?
Wishing everyone a great week!

Wow! Everyone has a lot going on. Amatino, I’m glad you got an answer re why you were feeling lousy. Now just get better! Awesome July 4th pic by the way.
Only 23 listings for me. For someone that is depending on ebay/Poshmark for a full time income, that is pretty stinking bad. I had several days where I’d sit at my computer and just could not get much productivity out of me. I guess I’m in a bit of a summer funk that I need to snap out of.
-
07/05/2021 at 6:38 pm #89561
I listed one last week. I’ll talk more about stuff going on next week.
-
07/06/2021 at 10:25 am #89564
VL, how wonderful that things are progressing so well with your wedding plans! We’re all agog for details and you know we’re gonna want LOTS of photos! And BOOM indeed! What a start to the new challenge!
JR, so glad you also got a diagnosis and some treatment. It’s good to know what you have, isn’t it? Even if it’s still crap being unwell! Sending best wishes for continued improvement. And more listings. Have you figured out what you want as a goal to list more?
Wow, VT, the second mike drop this week! You’ve done amazing! And you won the week!
JB, I’m working on something at the moment that may help. Give me another week to finish up, put together a concise outline, and I’ll post it for everyone. Working for yourself is incredibly hard because you don’t have a boss, a deadline, or much accountability – until bills come due. It’s all about creating that same sense of urgency and obligation as you had when you had someone to report to. I’ve been staring at the same dragon you’re glaring at for a while now. Maybe we should team up and fight it together! LOL.
Sharyn, prayers and warm hugs.
Spreadsheet updated, y’all. Go forth and conquer!

07/06/2021 at 2:28 pm #89565
I was out of town visiting my daughter in Washington over the weekend. So, I am checking in late. Last week I had a total of 21 new listings. I feel ok about it since I was gone for four days, but it’s time to put the nose to the grindstone again. Listing more has improved my sales, but they are still pretty slow. I’m loading the pipeline and hope for great things when Fall rolls around.
I’m sorry to hear about everyone’s health issues and I hope that things improve quickly for all of you.
Happy listing and great sales to all this week!

Thanks Utahbill!

07/12/2021 at 8:24 am #89624
I listed 8 last week. Very little in the whole scheme of things, but I’m satisfied with it for now. I had a great talk with a friend of mine this week about goals and personal accountability, and I’m working on thinking through some priorities as a result.
So Amatino, for now can you put me at 7 per week?
I hope everyone has an amazing week. I really appreciate the positivity in this little corner of the internet-verse.

07/12/2021 at 8:52 am #89626
UtahBill – no problem.
JR – will do. Actually, YOU motivated me! You mentioned about how having a specific goal was your main motivator for eBay, but you’ve lost it now as you achieved said goal. Well, I thought about it some. Have you ever heard of a debt snowball? You list all your debts, every single one, from smallest to largest. Then you pay them off, starting with the smallest. When the smallest is paid off entirely, you add the amount you were paying to the next smallest and keep going until you’re debt free. I wondered if it would work as a GOALS Snowball? List all my goals, smallest (dollar wise) to largest, and work eBay to pay for them. That way, getting the eBay ball rolling won’t be so demotivating, because I have a very low bar to reach for the smallest goal. And as the ball rolls and gets bigger, I immediately have another goal to work towards.
And to that end, I started listing again! Okay, I started listing again because my BFF has been nagging me to list (I love her to bits!) but I am motivated by the idea of a Goals Snowball.
I listed 7 yesterday. I have errands to run this morning, but I hope to get a lot more listings up this week. I spent a lot of last week, when I was able, rearranging and tidying my cabin and it’s great to work in here again! In fact, I’m in here now, at 7:30 in the morning, to pack an order. Yippee! 😉

I had 10 items last week. Time to step it up!
Have a great week everyone!

ONE listing for me last week. My 15-yr-old nephew from Seattle was visiting all week, and since I strive to be the coolest auntie on the planet we spent our time binge watching The Umbrella Academy, driving to Tillamook for their famous ice cream, and other assorted adventures. Who knows how much longer he’ll think I’m cool, so I have to take full advantage while it lasts.
He’s back in Seattle as of this morning, so it’s back to business for me.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

07/12/2021 at 1:33 pm #89636
38 new listings for me. One met the Made in USA challenge. I’ve had dozens that I could count towards the challenge this month, but my made in the USA sewing patterns don’t seem like they fit the spirit of the challenge IMHO. I list sewing patterns all the time – so it’s not like I’m going out of my way to list them just because they meet the challenge.
I was hoping to get to 775 active by Sunday – I didn’t make it, so I’m going for that # early this week. I spent quite a bit of time working on my basement chaos (inspired by my best buddy) and it is SO MUCH BETTER now that it’s more organized. If you’re thinking you should organize your eBay space I highly recommend doing so. A more organized workspace saves so much time and frustration.
Wishing everyone a motivated, productive and inspired week!

hi there….first time caller…numerous times lurker 🙂
Do I understand correctly that this can be joined any monday? or does it start at the beginning of each month?
I’m slacking on my listing and need some accountability/motivation
-
07/12/2021 at 2:19 pm #89638
Welcome jaepete! I believe you can join anytime.
This is a great place to hang out for accountability and motivation. Amatino’s listing challenge section of the forum has helped me immensely!
-
07/12/2021 at 2:19 pm #89639
32 items listed.
Jaepete – join anytime! Glad to have you! Post your weekly numbers every Monday if you want them counted towards that week’s listing challenge. This group has helped me more than anything on days when I can’t seem to list. There’s something about having to post my number every week that helps me to crank out a few more listings.
Vintage Lacy – we just started getting Tillamook products down here in GA about a year ago and I’m obsessed! I love the Monster Cookie Ice Cream and their extra sharp cheddar cheese.
-
07/12/2021 at 2:36 pm #89640
Welcome JaePete! I agree with the others how being part of this group is so motivating!
Julie- Do you watch Top Chef and did you watch the last season, filmed here in Portland? They did an episode at the Tillamook Cheese Factory that was so much fun. Their products are amazing….I also love their sour cream. We waited almost an hour in line for the waffle cones, but my nephew said it was worth it. 🙂
VT- I’d count the patterns….my take is a listing is a listing is a listing and there were no parameters put on the challenge. I’m certainly counting the vintage fabric I list. I think you should get credit for the patterns. BTW, your industriousness is inspiring!
Good on you JR and Amatino….your listings certainly put me to shame. Keep up the good work!

07/12/2021 at 2:43 pm #89641
so today are you posting numbers from last week?
-
07/12/2021 at 3:17 pm #89642
Yes, today (Monday, July 12th) we are posting our listing number totals from Monday July 5th thru Sunday July 11th.
-
07/12/2021 at 3:28 pm #89643
ok, that makes sense…LOL
I was on vacation last week so I’ll chime in next monday with this weeks results. Thanks!

No problem, looking forward to you joining us!

07/12/2021 at 6:23 pm #89647
Hi all! I just got back from a week vacation on Sanibel Island in Florida! We had a great time except for Tuesday when Elsa came through and most of the island shut down.
However, even with a day spent indoors, I didn’t have what I needed to list anything. Put 0 in for me.
I do have a few items started from before I went on vacation, so I should at least get those done this week.
-
07/13/2021 at 3:46 pm #89671
Thanks to everyone for answering JaePete’s questions. Thrilled to have someone join us! We’re a merry, welcoming mischief of elves!
Did y’all know that the collective noun for elves was “mischief”? There’s your something new for today! I think it’s very apt for us Trash Elves!
Sharyn, you’ve started a trend! Last week, you posted a 1. This week, VL posted a 1. I guess, if you’re going to list the minimum, a one is better than a goose egg! LOL
VT, you win again! You’re giving us all a smackdown! Go you! And well done on your basement organizing.
VL, so you’re a GAL, are you? A Great Aunt Lacey? LOL. Glad you had fun with your nephew and, absolutely, gotta stay cool for as long as possible. I didn’t know Tillamook made ice cream. When I eventually make it to Oregon, I shall have to try some.
And yes, Made in USA patterns totally count for the Challenge. If it’s Made in ye Goode Olde States, it counts! Please do rack up your totals accordingly.
JB, this article is about exercising, but when I read it through, I thought it rocked the whole idea of starting anything. Some great pointers, and you and I can totally use it to start a listing routine that produces listings! I’m really good at spending hours on the computer without doing anything productive. Still working on that other thing, will get it back to you ASAP.

Hello Listing Challengers!
I had 58 new listings for the week. I got it in my head that I wanted to hit 800 active listings and I did it! 🙂
I had 3 for the Made in the USA challenge. I’m still not counting my sewing pattern listings for the USA challenge – because then it’s no challenge for me.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
-
07/19/2021 at 11:01 am #89737
I listed 11, 6 of which qualify for the Made in the USA challenge.
VT, you’re on fire! Congrats on hitting your goal…that must feel great!
-
07/19/2021 at 12:14 pm #89739
I listed five. I was busy catching up with work and unpacking. None of listings met the challenge.
At the end of my vacation two weeks ago, I drove up to my parents’ home to pick up items that their downsizing friends’ gave to me to sell on eBay. My parents have agreed that they will only take stuff that they can bring up on their own, and they will not take any more clothes.
In the meantime, however, I brought more clothes home, and I have clothes from their last trip. To free up space so that I can get the hard goods listed faster, I’m just going to send them into Swap.com. I may save some clothing for my store; depends on how fast the boxes fill up. So, that is my goal for next week, but hopefully I will list some hard goods as well.
-
07/19/2021 at 12:16 pm #89740
Wow, VT! Blistering! And congrats on getting to 800. That’s terrific!
And JR – you’re on the board! Did you come up with a Goals Snowball?
For the first time in weeks, I managed my weekly goal of 10 listings! I’m thrilled to be back at it. Only one made the Challenge, but that’s a win in my book.
-
07/19/2021 at 1:37 pm #89746
24 listings for the week. 14 counted towards the challenge.
We did a massive clean out of a hoarder estate sale yesterday and I am wiped. Over 160 boxes, a big uhaul truck, and we still weren’t able to get it all. Really cool old Victorian house with several stories and hidden little rooms. Piles of things everywhere. One room had mounds of cookbooks, at least 700-800 and one of my workers spent 3 hours packing them and still didn’t finish. I had a great team of 6 working their tails off and it still got the better of us…….but we were happy to get what we got and it will be fantastic for the Grange rummage sale.
One of these days things will slow down a little…….or is that wishful thinking?
Hope everyone has a great week ahead.
-
07/19/2021 at 2:08 pm #89748
22 for me. 1 is Made in USA.
Listing has slowed down as I’ve been studying to take a Certified Fraud Examiner test next week. I’ve been meaning to take it for 2 years now and since I’ve put it off for so long, I have until the end of August to take it or else I’ll have to pay for it all over again. I don’t really need it, it’s just a credential I want to have in case I ever go back to my prior life in the anti-money laundering field. Plus, I have found the material to be interesting. If anyone is looking for an interesting fraud related documentary, I recommend The Queen of Horses on IMDB TV. It’s about a lady who committed the largest embezzlement of public funds in US history – $54 million from one small town, Dixon, IL.
Happy listing, y’all.
-
07/19/2021 at 5:18 pm #89753
36 for me. I had a much better week and focused on listing. I should break the 500 mark this coming week. It’s a big milestone on the way to 1000. As I list more, sales are improving. Hopefully, the bottom of the summer trough is past us now.
VT- Congrats on breaking 800! That was quite a listing spree you went on.
Have a good week everyone!
-
07/20/2021 at 11:16 am #89759
Congratulations! Everyone listed this week! Only the 4th time we’ve managed that all year! And VT raced to another win! Go VT go! LOL
Wow, VL, a hoarder’s house? That’s a Trash Elf’s dream! Lucky you – even if it is a lot of work. I send you best wishes for great sales from that haul!
JB, thanks for the rec, will check it out. Himself loves documentaries, this will be right up his alley.
Hey guys, only 11 days until the August challenge and so many of you are cleaning/clearing/de-hoardifying, that I thought I should mention this for planning purposes. The August challenge is “needs work.” If you have a spare corner/box/tote/garage, you may want to tuck things away there for you to get to in August. Just a thought…

Urk… sorry… spreadsheet updated!
You can access it any time using the link. Just remember to refresh the page.

07/26/2021 at 4:22 am #89865
Thought I’d be the first to report, for once.
42 listings for the week, and 14 counted towards the monthly challenge.
Can you believe there’s only one week left in July? This summer is flying by.
-
07/26/2021 at 6:30 am #89866
Only 5 for me, sigh, and none met the challenge.
-
07/26/2021 at 8:14 am #89868
10 for me, and a surprising 4 of them met the challenge.
So much studying to do because I’m taking 3 of the 4 tests for the CFE credential all within the week so i’ll be amazed if I get anything listed this coming week.
I started reading some reseller’s instagram post about how to post 15 listings every day. It started off with, “First, get 100 items ready to photograph” at which point I stopped reading because who has room to get 100 items ready to photograph?! Hehe
-
07/26/2021 at 9:24 am #89874
28 new listings for me, 4 met the USA made challenge.
I’m still at 800 active listings, it looks like it’ll take more than 28 new listings a week to grow my store.
Is anyone else experiencing lots of sales one day and zero the next? I seems to me that every time I notice an eBay change, i.e. when eBay added the VAT tax calculation, I’ve have no sales the day before. So I’m blaming my zero sales days on eBay tinkering/improving the site.
I went to an really interesting estate sale yesterday. It was an electronics collector’s house. I had no idea what half the items were. However, today everything is free and I’m not going to let not knowing what something is stop me from getting it if it’s free 🙂 True scavenger here…
-
07/26/2021 at 12:47 pm #89886
I had a good week for listing. Listed 19 items and 11 met the challenge.
Yes, only one week left of July, and I am so unprepared for the August challenge of items requiring repair or work. I think this one was my idea because I need it so bad, but I have SO much planned for August. Plus, I think I will need to order parts if I’m really going to do it right. Maybe I’ll buy the parts in August and do it later, but then I won’t meet the challenge. Such is life, I guess.
@VT – Yes! Very weird roller coaster on eBay these days.
-
07/26/2021 at 12:53 pm #89887
It’s not just a roller coaster of sales on Ebay for me…. Amazon has been squirrelly too. I have had 3 or 4 NO SALES days on Amazon this month and that NEVER happens. It’s literally been several years since I had a no sale day on Amazon, and yet, here we are.
-
07/27/2021 at 9:30 am #89909
Wow, VL, this Challenge is right up your alley! And yes, what a year. Last year dragged, this year is making up time!
JR, you listed. That’s a great job! And you almost made your weekly goal, so good for you! Keep going!
JB, good luck with your exams! I remember those days. Kinda fun… after the fact. Very stressful during! I’ve begun to realize that reading how other people do stuff is good for ideas, but that each one of us has to create a system that works for us, for our individual, unique situation. I used to get stuff together to photograph (never 100! Goodness, they must have a huge space! Or very small stuff) but then I would end up with dozens of photographs that would take weeks to list, or I would find something wrong with the photos and would have to redo some, or I would find a defect in the item that I hadn’t photographed. The idea is great, but it doesn’t work for me. Then I started creating dozens of drafts, which worked kinda okay, until eBay had a glitch and wiped out all my drafts AND nineteen new listings. Now, it’s slower, but I photograph only a few items, as few as one or as many as half a dozen, and list them, one at a time. It has worked out faster, in a way, as the photographs and descriptions are more accurate, and the item is packed, SKU’d, and put away correctly. I’ve lost money because one or more of those last todo’s haven’t been done and the item has been broken, incorrectly SKU’d or misplaced. Slow and steady wins the day! If I post 5 every day, it would give me 25 a week. I could live with that. And over time, I’d probably get faster!
Spreadsheet updated. VL got tired of us playing in her sandbox, so she dashed to the front for a solid win!
The Challenge ends on Saturday, but I’ll allow an extension to Sunday so that you can post your numbers on Monday. Get them Made in the US of A items listed!
-
07/27/2021 at 6:14 pm #89919
Well, I was out of town a bit last week which kept me from joining. Numbers from last week were 7 items listed. If the challenge is “Made in the USA” then 5 count.
And not sure if anyone watched the Youtube video of the guy that sells the Chinese vases and stuff, this was his instructional video on listing, taking pics etc. I’m using his recommendation of taking pics of things outside in the sunlight and I’m really liking it.
I’ve bought a collection of Phillips 66 memorabilia (lots of die cast vehicle coin banks) and they look great in the sun!
-
07/27/2021 at 11:05 pm #89924
Checking in late, but I listed 10 items last week. I received bad news on a health issue I have and it really threw me for a loop mentally. In the long run I should be fine. So, I just need to focus on what I can control and get through it. I will list more items this week!
Good sales to all!
-
07/29/2021 at 10:45 am #89956
Welcome Jaepete, good to have you with us! I’ve added you to the spreadsheet. It’s sorted in alphabetical order. And you’re even on the board with the Challenge! Go you! You will see there’s a section with Personal Goal: that’s for us to keep track of how much we’re listing (YTD = Year to Date) vs how much we planned to list (Goal = number of listings per week multiplied by number of weeks to date.) I amended the formula to only start from this week, and put in your weekly goal as 7, just to kick it off. If you would let me know what you want as your weekly goal, I’ll amend accordingly.
Please would you link the YT video here? I missed that conversation and would love to see it.
Hi, Utahbill, good for you to list even when you have bad news! Wishing you a full recovery or resolution to your health issue.
Spreadsheet updated.
-
07/29/2021 at 10:58 am #89957
Jaepete, welcome!
Utahbill, I’m sorry to hear about your health issue. It sounds like you have a great attitude about it though, and that’s one part of the battle you’ve already conquered. Wishing you all the best with your continued recovery!
Amatino, if you’d like to up my weekly goal to 21 that’d be fine. My math is terrible so I’m not sure if that’ll leave me ahead or behind on my yearly goal total thus far. But hopefully still ahead!
-
08/01/2021 at 11:38 am #90033
Good morning all!
New month, new challenge! As discussed last week, you may continue with the July challenge today and post your final numbers tomorrow.
August challenge is NEEDS WORK!
Must something be soldered, stitched, or serviced? Do you have to bathe, brush, or blot? Rebuild, refurbish, repair? This month is the time to get these things out of the corner and into the shop. It doesn’t matter if it’s small and insignificant, like sewing on a button, or polishing some shoes, or if it’s major like doing a complete rewiring and replacing parts – it counts!
This is the challenge for things that take more than a quick swipe to be able to list, you have to sit down for a few minutes or a few hours, pull out some tools and clean that stuff up. Put dishes in the dishwasher (hats and caps too, while you’re at it!) Throw fabrics in the washing machine. Pile shoes up in the mudroom and sit down with an audiobook and a shoeshine kit. If you lot up your items by the tools you need to get the job done, you can then clean in one go, and list with Sell Similar. All those items that you’ve promised yourself you’ll do when you get around to it? Yeah, this month is your Tuit – and it’s a Round Tuit!
You are welcome to double up today, list for the July Challenge AND the August Challenge, as you wish, but July Challenge numbers will go up tomorrow and then it’s over.
-
08/01/2021 at 6:38 pm #90048
1 item listed this week. That’s right, 1 – hehe. The next two weeks might be 0 but I’ll wait and see. The plan is to hit the 4th quarter HARD! Later, y’all!
-
08/02/2021 at 2:53 am #90060
10 listings for me this week, and 2 counted towards the July challenge.
SWAMPED.
-
08/02/2021 at 7:11 am #90065
Big fat 0 for me again last week. I like to set the bar for improvement low, apparently.
-
08/02/2021 at 8:47 am #90067
I listed 20, and six met the challenge. That makes a total of 17 for the challenge.
-
08/02/2021 at 9:02 am #90068
35 new listings for me, 3 met the USA challenge. I *think* I have 11 in total for the USA challenge.
I’m still struggling to get to the next milestone in active listings – it’s been a challenge to keep 800 active. I really want to get to 825 as my next goal but it’s proving elusive. August may not be the month I make that goal, 2 weeks out of this month will be dedicated to travel and having visitors.
Wishing everyone a fantastic week of productivity and sales!
-
08/02/2021 at 10:18 am #90071
17 new listings for me.
I had a little better week, and I was really pleased to break the 500 listings mark. That was a major milestone on the way to my goal of 1000 by the end of the year. Sales have definitely started to improve for me. This makes it harder to increase my total listing number, but that’s a good problem to have.
Have a great week everyone!
-
08/03/2021 at 11:26 am #90103
I was able to get 10 things listed last week. trying to figure out a sure fire way to see what I listed on Ebay between certain dates. I’ve only recently upgraded my account as I’m now at about 340 listings and the math wortks, versus the 250 free listing tier.
-
08/03/2021 at 11:46 am #90104
and here is the video I mentioned. someone else posted this in another thread here but for the life of me I couldn’t find the thread.
I used his advise on making sure the first 4 words of my title are the best in terms of searchable. For me this meant I’ve started to revise old listings. For a quite a few this has meant taking the word “vintage” and moving it to the end of my title or removing it.
I also started taking pictures outside in the sun for certain things. Here’s a link to one of those listings. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194259271284
Its probably time for me to use a better camera but this one will do for now.
-
08/04/2021 at 12:23 pm #90137
Greetings, y’all!
For the life of me, I cannot fathom why I didn’t post the spreadsheet yesterday. I updated it yesterday…. Brain fart, I guess!
Okay, VT takes the win again! Well done, VT.
VT, goal amended as requested. Jaepete, still waiting for your goal number.
JR, only way to go from here is UP! Even if you just list one, it’s an improvement! I challenge you to list one this week. Double dog dare you to find the 15 minutes!
VT and Utahbill – you’re living my dream. That’s what I want, to be unable to hit a listing goal because I’m selling as fast as (faster?) than I list! I would LOVE for my store to be growing backwards even though I’m listing like crazy. (Not because I’m not listing, as is currently the case!) Congratulations, Utahbill, on achieving your half century!
Jaepete, if you go with a count of #listings at the beginning deducted from #listings at the end, you will be out due to sales, etc. Best to just jot down your numbers on a daily basis. You can have a post it next to your listing space, or a white board or similar. Do a quick count basis, like 4 marks with the 5th mark crossing out the 4. Then you can count it up easily at the end of the week. Or have a listing buddy and send each other your numbers on a daily basis. Quick to count up from your text/emails. Thanks for the link to the video. Will watch later when I have a break. Your photo looks great, I do like the idea.

08/04/2021 at 12:28 pm #90138
July Challenge Results!
The winner is…. drum roll… VL, with an impressive 50 items!
2nd place goes to Sharyn with 17; and 3rd goes to VT with 11.
Jaepete, JB, JR, and I all get a participation point.
Well done, everyone. This turned into quite a busy challenge!
Now, on to August and get some cleaning, fixing, and fussing done!
-
08/04/2021 at 1:07 pm #90139
Congrats Utahbill on the 500 mark! I’m currently below my 800 # and working my way back up to it…
jaepete: the new listing number count as Amatino describes it is how I keep track. I just print out a free copy of each calendar month and mark how many listings I accomplish each day within each square on the calendar. I find it easy to keep track of and to add those up every week for the Monday post.
I’m feeling really lucky that our big listers are all so busy lately, I’ve been able to get on the board with some weekly listings wins! Heads up, everyone: I’m traveling the second and fourth weeks of August. If our big listers are still busy then it’ll be a good opportunity for someone else to win. It’d be fun to see someone who has never won the weekly numbers do so!
-
08/05/2021 at 11:03 am #90162
Here’s how I find the number of items I have listed over the past week.
Go to seller hub, scroll to the right to find the column “start time”. Click at the top of the column. It will re-order your listings from oldest to newest. Click on it a second time. It will order your listings from newest to oldest. You have to know the last item you listed from the previous week, but then you can go and count the number of listings you have created. I keep track of the last two items listed from the previous week because one may sell.
Lastly, you have to check your solds for the week to see if there is anything that you listed and sold in the same week. If you forget, you can click on the item and the sale date is listed at the top.

08/09/2021 at 9:03 am #90208
Last week I was on vacation part deux! So, I listed 0 and proud of it!!
I’ve got two more weekend trips this month, so not sure how much time I will have for listing. I might prioritize items that need work and not worry about listing in quantity. I know that I have a stereo system that I tested last year because of this challenge, and it is still sitting in my basement. I might list it as needing repair and take the hit in price.
I hope everyone is having a great summer. I’m certainly traveling a bunch!
-
08/09/2021 at 10:11 am #90209
I managed 26 new listings, 19 of those met the August challenge. I’m on vacation this week so my numbers next week will be dismal. However I’m very grateful to be going out to the Oregon coast as the air quality here in Colorado is the worst in the world due to California wildfire smoke.
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
08/09/2021 at 10:28 am #90211
Just 8 new listings for me last week. I will be out of town for vacation most of this week, so I am anticipating few if any new listings for the coming week, but that’s ok. We all need a break from time to time.
Have a great week!
-
08/09/2021 at 10:52 am #90214
12 for me! Woot woot! And of those, 2 fit the Challenge.
Unfortunately, there’s a pretty good chance my numbers will be low this week. I have 10 days left to get 6 galabeyas (folkloric dance dresses) ready for a performance. It takes me about 4-5 days to sew one dress, stitching in the evenings after work. So 6 dresses in 10 days is a teeny time issue.
Anyone have a time machine to lend me? One of those watch thingies that Hermione used in the Harry Potter series?
-
08/09/2021 at 3:12 pm #90220
My listing number for last week was 10 items. I also had a pretty good sales week selling 9 items to two people… so need to up my listing game. Currently sitting at 345 active listings.
-
08/10/2021 at 2:33 am #90224
2 listings for me. I am the head volunteer for a massive charity fund-raising project, and it has taken over my life. The event is this coming weekend, so I sincerely doubt I will get much listing done this week as well. Next week I am going out of town for a long weekend….
oh, and we are looking at 110 degree weather again. UGH.
Hope you have a great time in my part of the world VT. The Oregon coast is spectacular!
I’d loan you my Hermione watch, Amatino, but I need it this week. 🙂
-
08/10/2021 at 11:45 am #90236
Good morning, y’all!
VT wins again with her terrific numbers for last week. With all the heavy hitters away this week, it will be interesting to see who takes the crown.
Dang it, VL, can’t we share? You know, I’ll use it for a couple days, then we’ll switch? LOL Sending you best wishes that you can get through everything on your plate!

08/15/2021 at 6:36 pm #90350
Hello All,
Like Sharyn last week, I was on vacation this week. I had grand plans of listing on Sunday since we were scheduled to return home on Saturday, but our return flight was canceled due to mechanical issues. So I’ve just returned home 24 hours late. Zero listings for me.
I’m hoping to get some good numbers up in the coming week. Fingers crossed!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Good morning, all.
Double whammy this past week led to my big, fat goose egg!
Due to the dance show I have this Friday AND as I somehow had a brain fart and completely missed the eBay Open, I sat in front of the computer for 3 days and worked my way through dozens of the YT videos, sewing as I watched.
Then on Thursday, I had another brain fart while out collecting eggs at dawn, and forgot how to walk in a straight line. Or something. I tripped over a rusty metal chicken crate, gouging my ankle and scratching up my legs, then bounced off, ripping a hole in my arm (all this in the space of less than 2 seconds!) 4 hours in Emergency and I have 7 stitches. The before photo is gory, but here’s a sanitized 2-day old photo where you can see my impressive shark bite! Yup, that’s what it looks like! I’m trying to work out a really cool story to tell about the scar! LOL

Organizing from vacation return plus busy at job plus packing for another (long weekend) trip equals zero listings.
Amatino, I’ve come to realize that you are a bit accident prone, and it’s been a while. You are due for something. I hope you recover quickly.

sorry to hear about your accident.
18 listings for me this week! this challenge thread has already helped!

Dang, Amatino. Ouch! That looks so painful. The lengths you go to get out of listing! I mean, really.
I have a less colorful excuse for zero listings last week. My fund-raising event was crazy good and we raised over 8 grand….even in very hot weather. I am still dog tired but hope to get a few listings up this week before I go on a road trip for 3 days……
So many of us with zero listings….it’s that time of year!

Amatino- Ouch! Heal quickly!
I was on vacation most of last week and had 0 new listings. Sales were ok, slow, but not as bad as three or four weeks ago.
Have a great week!

Sharyn, LOL, good catch. Yup! When I was a kid I was in the hospital so often, my folks were on a first name basis with most of the ER staff. Once I had to overnight for observation (again!) and I exclaimed about the fabulous new Children’s Ward. “Yes,” one of the nurses whispered confidentially, “your parents paid for it.” I barely slept a wink that night, in terror of the ass-whooping I was going to get the next day when my folks saw the bill! 😀
VL, it’s not the not listing that scares me, the not-sewing is going to bite my tail! 54 hours left until the full dress rehearsal and I haven’t even started my costume yet! LOL
Thanks for all the wishes, everyone. Healing well, stitches out on Thursday.
Spreadsheet updated. Jaepete, you win the week as the ONLY Elf to list a thing! New record, folks. This is the first time since the TELC started that only one person has put something on the board! Not sure this is a goal we want to repeat, but it’s worth remarking! LOL.
-
08/17/2021 at 11:52 am #90378
Congratulations Jaepete! It’s great to see someone who’s not yet won the weekly listing challenge win it!
Amatino, I posted before you so I missed saying how sorry I am to hear about your injuries. It’s strange that you can be such a graceful dancer but also prone to tripping over things. I’m clumsy but also a terrible dancer, similiar to Elaine Benes on Seinfeld – lol!

08/17/2021 at 5:33 pm #90380
Late to the game…well played, Jaepete! I also had 0 listings, again. After seeing Amatino’s post I think I’m glad that I actually have no excuse for not listing. Hope you are feeling better and get your costume done 🙂
I have promised myself that I will not end next week with another 0. No really. I mean it.

Hello Fellow Challengers!
I had a good listing week with 50 new listings. 5 met the August challenge.
This week my sister is visiting from California so I’m not expecting to accomplish much as far as listing but the sourcing has already begun, so it’ll be a fun week 🙂
Wishing everyone a great week!

Hi Everyone,
16 listings for me.
I’m back after a 3 week hiatus! Dad had surgery in Iowa. With one day to go before the surgery the hospital pushed it back 8 days so that extended my stay quite a bit. I had my stores on vacation mode so I wasn’t making any money those 3 weeks. But I got to spend quality time with my parents, spent a day with my old college roommates and did some pretty good sourcing as well. Now to hit it HARD for the rest of the year…hopefully.

I had a very successful week (considering I have a full time job). I got 22 items listed which is huge for me! The listing challenge is doing it’s job.
I hit an estate sale Sunday morning in a wealthier part of town where a lawyer lived there. I’ve had pretty good success with law books and this guy had quite a library. It was the afternoon on the last day of the sale so the estate company was offering me what came out to about 70 cents per book. I also came across a few pairs of men’s pants new with the tags so thought for $2.50 each I’d give clothing a try. I also tried making a “what sold” video. I’ve got 8 things waiting to be packed and shipped so I’m going to try again.

This week I had 15 listings, which wasn’t too bad considering I had company from out of town visiting for 3 days. My goal for the remainder of the year is no more zeroes! You know what I mean. 🙂 Sales were slow again last week, but that just means I need to list more.
Good sales and good hunting to all this week!

I listed two items this week. I continue to be busy with my part time job and the planning/organizing of the many trips I’ve taken this summer.
I did actually do some work for a vintage stereo system that will meet the challenge, but decided to break out the speakers into a separate listing. So, I have a few more photos to take, but at least I’ll have something to show for myself this month considering this challenge was my idea. LOL
Actually, I have some silver plate to polish and list if I can get to it …

My sincerest hope that this is my last week of zero for the year. However, I can now show what’s been taking up my time! We had a charity show this weekend, our belly dance troupe was the primary performance, and it was a huge hit. We did three sets – to open, midway, and to close the evening. The first was what we jokingly refer to as our “fruit salad costume” due to it being multi-colored. I was so busy sewing costumes for everyone else that I only started mine on Wednesday by sewing the skirt, then on Thursday sewing the top. I didn’t have time to finish either and was doing last minute alterations to the other costumes on Friday after our full dress rehearsal on Thursday night, so for the actual performance I was pinned into it all.
Next up was a folkloric set. Here is my labor! I made ten dresses in total, from scratch, including all the decorations; the paillettes (coin looking things), necklines, and even the belts.
Our last set was a troupe costume themed around Fire, with red, black and gold.
The event was a huge success, despite gales that blew our veils away, our hair into our glitter and make up, and our costumes around so badly that it upset our choreography! We just laughed our way through it. I slept the entire day on Saturday, I was just shattered! And I had the day off yesterday too, if you can call spending the entire day washing costumes and putting away all the paraphernalia I hauled to the event.
In 7 weeks we have our Student Showcase, 3 weeks after that our Witches Dance, and 7 weeks after that the Advanced Troupe Solos, though for all but the Witches Dance, the costumes are pretty much done, so I am planning to sew only in the evenings and get some listings up for the 4th quarter during the day!

Such wonderful costumes Amatino! I’m in awe of everything you do.
I’ve been a bit in the glumps this past week since I had to cancel our much-anticipated trip. We were planning to go to a vintage show in Eastern Washington, which has a low vaccinated rate and at that moment no mask mandate. It just wasn’t worth the risk, with my mom’s lung issues.
9 listings for the week. Hope to get back on track this week.

Congrats to everyone for listing this week! Except me, LOL! VT wiped us all off the table with her listings, being over double what anyone else managed! Spreadsheet updated.
Next week is the last week of the August challenge. The month ends on Tuesday, so you have until Tuesday to list items that need a little work, post your final numbers by Wednesday.
For planning purposes, the September challenge is Textiles! The challenge begins on September 1st.
Have fun, y’all! Go list!

Just 12 new listings for me. None met the August challenge.
Last week was a fun but very busy week with my sister visiting. I should be able to list more this week.
Wishing everyone a productive and profitable week!

Good morning! Whooo-eeee, did I do great this week! I managed to list HALF of what VT did. Seeing as she’s been on a roll the past few weeks, I’m feelin’ right proud o’ meself! 😀
6 for me, none met the challenge. It’s been a bit of a rough week and I’ve not been feeling well. I think it’s the EBV putting in another peek to piss me off! Himself and I spent Saturday ripping the garage apart so that we could organize the graveyard. He decided that the skeletons would be dismantled down to the most usable parts, and the carcasses will go to scrap metal, and all the machines that can be refurbished went into climate-controlled storage in my poor, overburdened shed. With over two dozen in each of those categories, almost another dozen in the “maybe” pile (he has to check if they are ‘refurbish’ or ‘parts’), we ended up with 109 machines in the graveyard. Yikes! Each of the graveyard machines has been tagged with a number, and a spreadsheet created with tag #, make, model, and location, for easy search in future. We cleared a huge amount of space, he spent all of yesterday stripping the carcasses, and it looks very organized now!
This is one half of our 400sqft garage, with work in progress.

I listed 2, but at least both met the challenge. I think that is it for me on this month’s challenge. Sad, since this is where I really need to do some work. I do have two more days, right? Let me see if I can test and list a chandelier by Tuesday.
This past weekend was my last trip for the summer; it was another family event make-up due to the pandemic last year. All should be quiet now on that front. I am still busy at my part time job, but I should be able to list more. My plan is to list a few larger items to make some room.

My bad! Just got out to the cabin, looked at the weekly planner where I log my listings, and I actually did TEN this week! I felt so sick I completely forgot about one whole day! LOL

50 listings this week, 4 met the August challenge.

0 for me. I did spend some time moving my photo setup to the basement, getting it out of my home office where I spend 8 hours of my day already. Maybe that will help with my motivation?

13 listings for me this week.
Wow Amatino that’s quite the boneyard. At least, they are sewing machines and not motorcycles….
Good hunting to all this week!

9 listings for this week. It seems to be my current trend. Way to go Julie…you are certainly back on track! Hope this week is much better for you Amatino, and that everyone has a good week ahead.

Wow, JB, what a great week! Congrats! And, as a reward, you won the week!
Spreadsheet updated.
Today is the last day for the August Challenge. Please post your numbers tomorrow.
ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT!
Due to J&R deciding to discontinue the podcast and not having decided the future of the forum, we will be continuing with the TELC here, but I will be actively searching for alternatives so that we have something set up if we need it. I have considered Facebook private group, Slack, GroupMe, and email. I’ve also considered creating a blog, just for us. Reddit is out because of trolls and it’s way too public. Suggestions welcome. Input on whether you’d like to continue or commentary on how best to proceed is also welcome.
-
09/01/2021 at 8:20 am #90591
Amatino, you’re the best! Even though it’s not currently reflected in my listing numbers, I do get motivation from this thread and would like it to continue.
I would like to put in a vote against Facebook. I agree with you about Reddit. I think email would likely be too unwieldy but I’m open to being convinced otherwise. I don’t have any experience with the others, except blogs…that might work but I don’t know how much of a hassle it would be to maintain. These aren’t super helpful comments but that’s all I got.

August Challenge winner, with so many listed there’s no way we could possibly catch up, VT!!!
Wow, you really knocked this one out of the park!
JB clocks in 2nd, Sharyn takes 3rd, and I tag along with a participation point. Well done everyone!

Amatino, I have a question about the September challenge. Could you please define textiles in terms of what counts for the challenge? I assume clothing is included but I want to be sure before I start counting…

I put in there as this thread is closed and I didn’t want folks to be confused coming back here.
