Yes was very pleased with the entire process. If you have something truly unique I think Heritage is the way to go.
Heritage targets a very specific demographic and auctions soft close – so there isn’t any last minute second bids to swipe at lowest cost.
As a seller, I had to wait 30 days for my payout but I once I received it – the money was mine. No returns, no INADs, and no ability for the customer to contest a credit card charge 6 months later.
If I ever find anything that unique again, I will definitely use Heritage.
You might want to contact someone at Hertiage Auctions. In May, I found 3 Salvador Dali Lithographs a Goodwill, and I ended up running my auction through Heritage. Similar Dali Lithos sold on eBay for $400 to $1200, but through Heritage, I sold all 3 for a total of 5k (I think the net after fees was around 4k).
Heritage runs very specific auctions and targets the correct demographic- they know their audience. They have an entertainment collectibles division that this book might fit nicely into.
There are no upfront fees, appraisal by email is free and if they decide to list, they do all the work. Further, if they don’t think the item is worth their time, they will politely redirect you to eBay.
You can find their website here.
Art is what you make of it, and I choose to believe he is scavenging.
How do you get ebay to deduct shipping from you manage payment balance? Only account they are always pulling from PayPal.
It’s free with my eBay store. Do you sell on eBay? I find it useful, I wish the data went back more than a year, but the price is way more reasonable than Worthpoint.
I don’t think the 1099-K needs to be reconciled, unless of course you think eBay is grossly over reporting your earnings. As long as you have been tracking your profits and expenses and justify them in an audit, you should be okay.
I paid 2 bucks for mine. It was sitting next to a junky poster from the Disney store that they wanted $40.00 bucks for. I love thrift store economics. I think I may keep this one for myself – I love it!
Thanks for the info.
Whenever I have a problem that isn;t my fault, I choose problem with shipping address. The item is automatically re-listed and you aren’t hit with a defect ding. My rationale, the problem with the shipping address is – I’m not shipping!
Yeah my problems had nothing to do with the rate change. I mean it’s possible that tinkering with rates, cause a major systems blip. But these were gross miscalculations. In one instance they charged the customer a rate below the lowest shipping charge USPS offers. And they other was a calculated item that was shipped for free.
I have made plenty of mistakes in the past but these were definitely on eBay.
I don’t sell weapons, it wouldn’t be possible for me to make this mistake, however I do worry about scavenging something that has no business being in my house. There are all sorts of potentially dangerous items that could be lurking at the bottom of an auction box. i.e. something made with asbestos, a radioactive souvenir from a test site, a book infested with bed bugs, someones drugs stash, or a Mogwai that’s been fed after midnight.
Occupational hazard to be sure.

12/29/2020 at 3:06 pm in reply to: all my iPhone photos are HEIC how to change them for ebay? #84726When working on your laptop, are you dragging photos directly from the iphoto app to the eBay browser? That may be what is causing you to get HEIC files.
I take photos with my iphone and edit it in iphoto.
Once I finish editing in iphoto, I drag the photos to a folder on my desktop. The files in the desktop folder should be Jpegs. Those files should be able to be easily uploaded to eBay.
If you are scavenging and your costs of good are low, AND the item didn’t take to long to list AND it won’t be hard to pack… why not take the money? I don’t bother worrying about how much more I could have got. Spend that mental energy on listing more items.
Here are some of my rules of thumb in no particular order-
I keep my listing prices high, I never lower them in the listing (unless of course I see 50 identical items for less). This allows me to send offers to people watching my item and allows me to give discounts when offers are made.
I don’t turn on best offer until it has been on the shelf for 30 days.
If someone offers me less than 50% off I straight-up decline. I used to offer a best price, but I find these people are problem customers and if they really want it, they will come back.
I don’t turn on best offer for anything under $15.00.
If they are within 25% of my asking price, unless it’s something I know will sell, I will usually accept.

Thanks for this.
