I have not posted on ebay for a while now and plan on a large listing this coming month. I just attempted to create a listing and none of my photos are going through because they are HEIC which I learned on the internet is an apple iPhone thing. I can’t figure out how to change them… what a Pia….any advice?
I might add that I do a lot of marketplace on my iPhone and have had no issues posting images with that.

We take photos on an iPhone and they upload to eBay with no issues. Are you taking photos through the eBay phone app?

thanks Jay no I took the photos on iPhone then I went on my computer to upload the photos I that get added to the MacBook computer. When I click on add photos from the ebay program I find them on the computer under photo media and tried to add them. They all now say HEIC. I read that is the newer format from apple. I’ll screen shot for you…I’ll try to see if the app on the iPhone will allow me to upload…

No need to screenshot. sounds like you just need to convert the files to JPEG or whatever eBay likes: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/imazing-heic-converter/id1292198261?mt=12

Yet another step that should be unnecessary… thanks for the converter !
On a brighter note, I just went to revise the listing on the ebay app and the photos took there but won’t directly from the computer?
Anyway that is an easier fix then converting what will be hundreds of photos.
I love apple but this is a pia…

When working on your laptop, are you dragging photos directly from the iphoto app to the eBay browser? That may be what is causing you to get HEIC files.
I take photos with my iphone and edit it in iphoto.
Once I finish editing in iphoto, I drag the photos to a folder on my desktop. The files in the desktop folder should be Jpegs. Those files should be able to be easily uploaded to eBay.

No these photos I believe get added through the cloud directly to my computer. I sometimes do some light editing photo rotation cropping directly in the iPhone camera.
all I did was click on add photos from the ebay program searched for them through photo media and clicked to add them into ebay.

I just found this on an apple help board. I made the adjustment we will see if it happens going forward…
Though capturing in HEIF and HEVC format is recommended, you can capture media using older formats that are more broadly compatible with other operating systems and devices:
- In iOS 11, go to Settings > Camera.
- Tap Formats.
- Tap Most Compatible. This setting is available only on devices that can capture media in HEIF or HEVC format.
- All new photos and videos will now use JPEG or H.264 format. To return to using the space-saving HEIF and HEVC formats, choose High Efficiency.
and
When you import HEIF or HEVC media from an attached iOS device to Photos, Image Capture, or a PC, the media might be converted to JPEG or H.264.
You can change this import behavior in iOS 11. Go to Settings > Photos. In the “Transfer to Mac or PC” section,

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully this information will be useful to someone. I encountered this problem with the HEIC files too. I solved it using an app called Simple Transfer. It installs on your iphone and computer and allows easy transfer of images, sending them to specific folders, and deleting them off your phone. It is simple and easy which is the way it should be.

Yes that is the app. It’s not free but has a one time cost of $10, no subscription. It has been well worth it for me.

There is no longer a need for an additional app. There is a shortcut in the finder.
From the finder window-
Right click on the photos (you can select more than one at a time)
Select from the bottom of the pull down menu QUICK ACTIONS > CONVERT IMAGE
Then select JPEG Actual Size. That should do it.

And Supposedly the new eBay listing tool can read HEIC files, but I have had mixed results with that.

I use a 3rd party listing tool, where I need Jpg’s. I also like how quickly and easily I can download and delete pictures from my phone in bulk. For me it has been a decent productivity hack.
