Yep, blocked the first time – this is a different user name and eBay handle – at the same address.
Thinking it’s a kid – but you know eBay, the. User can do no wrong!
So….
Buyer might not be able to pay because of the government shutdown. Which was in place when they made the offer.
Hi, a follow-up to my issue above – did some digging in the files and turns out that my new “winner” there with a different user name and a different name, is it the same address as the previous buyer who bugged out. Automatic unpaid item assistant standing by. what a drag.
I think some items are haunted and will never actually “close” – just sold an LP on a counteroffer, buyer responded to every communication within minutes, accepted the counter immediately and, a day later, hasn’t paid!
Hey wait a minute – the SAME thing happened with the SAME record back in October… and the buyer Never paid.
This guy might come through…. ????
Very impressive.
My area is a disaster. Sell a lot of larger items and have to custom make boxes, either resizing or chopping up huge sheets. So I have a cutting mat on the floor and – what a mess.
Hey, just being honest!
If I could only get a peanut Dispenser ( so jealous!!!)This week I sold a blazer. Only have a few places to store clothes ( really not my thing) – checked them all – three times – getting hot under the collar – then thought ” waitttt….. already sold that! Dang! Grrr!
Checked eBay, can’t find it, Maybe over 90 days? Check the backup… no ,,
What is happening!!!!! I remember packing it – I think –Was it carefully folded in the bottom of the first bin I checked? And rechecked? And rechecked?
Yes. Yes it was.

One of my resolutions is to winnow things I can’t stand out of the inventory – especially items that are low prices and just won’t sell and items which are a drag ( had it with Limoges !)
Have to accept that some things can be just low return wastes of time.
Thinking of:
Creating eBay lots of like items – 10 ties , 5 caps , 10 LPs from the 80s, etc.
Honestly letting go and donating purely speculative items that I thought were cool but apparently aren’t – maybe another Scavenger has a passion and would love to find them at Goodwill?
Give things to people who want them – leaning this way on books which have not sold in a year at low prices, DVDs ( where did that market go??? )01/04/2019 at 7:53 am in reply to: How do you spend your quarterly eBay Subscription Coupon for Shipping Supplies? #54493Big fan of 6x4x4 and 8x6x4 boxes – have gotten the larger ones but too much wasted space. Oh, for a few “free” 8x8x8s!
Still working through large stacks of bubble mailers , polymailers at the bottom of the list.
No interest in tape or tissue paper – both cost so little in the real world.
It would be great if there were a few less expensive items to round up , always seem to leave a little behind. Also surprised to be charged sales tax, dont remember that before.
Straight the credit card – PayPal suppression !!!Many thanks for the turntable packing advice.
I’ve got a few that need to be sold and , especially with this recent spate of “INADS” on electronic stuff, I’m very wary of selling them.12/29/2018 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Sad story I heard this week. Makes me thankful to sell online! #54106One of my key reason to love Jay and Ryanne and their Scavenger Lifestyle, it is that being able to generate cash through the eBay platform is available to anyone and anyone can set and meet their goals that allow them to achieve their own lifestyle.
If you want to “scale” into a hassle filled lifestyle with burdens of responsibility and shackles of success, have at it! It can be done!
Or, set a goal to make your monthly car payment.. it can be done!
Just talked to an old friend who used to say “scale” all the time, built a successful reselling business ( mostly Amazon) , 30 employees , big warehouse, major supplier connections, and, margins got too tight, led to bankruptcy. No regrets, but make sure what you want is what you want!Just when it seems as if you are all alone, turns out someone else has suffered through the same nonsense.
After years with no hassles, smacked with three ZERO FEEDBACK buyers who decided their ELECTRONIC items didn’t work. Other commonality, VERY high shipping charges.
And eBay reps that aren’t interested in helping much, canned responses, reluctant involvement.
One guy wrote openly threatening emails, never responded to any message I sent, promised to leave nasty feed back and to never use eBay again.
Best rep I got on the phone seemed shocked at the buyers behavior and promised to overturn any feedback as long as I took the return , freight at my cost and refunded the buyer.
Did the math, pair of small hifi speakers purchased for $5, $25 shipping, this bozo would certainly not pack well, then argue over shipping refund?
Forget it, just refunded the guy and moved on.
At the end of the day mainly lament the continuing institution of “automatic” policies which, while you can rationalize or justify them , still represent real hurdles to the regular seller.
And, note that the speakers were thoroughly tested, insanely double packed, and listed as is no returns.
So glad you were able to fight and win, my rep thanked mev profusely for helping the customer to be happy!!!Noticed there is an update on iTunes. I guess we,ll try it since Steven has ok results…
Have not seen it pop up again – nothing is visible on the main site – and I don’t most think it was my imagination. Should take a screenshot instead of trying to copy.
It might be something they are trying to promote on the app and screwed up. Who knows.
I could call them but I think I will just make sure to check this one next week and if it goes down, in price I will just cancel it.
Reminds me of the other weird thing I got a couple of months ago with a guaranteed auction price. Of course I forgot to check to see if they credited me!!!So I had totally embraced listing with the app. Have liked it for the easy photos, UPC lookup, and the ability to use dictation to enter info without typing. A couple of years ago it became the do all.
Others (most!) here on Scavenger Life use the app as only one of their listing tools, say just for pics.
Gradually, the updates to the app keep drifting further and further away from the basic functionalities promoted heavily a few years ago.
I could continue to add to the strange, unexpected things the new update has done and undone, but as of this second, it really appears that it is unable to offer a sell from app experience. Missing fields, strange suggestions, inability to edit.
I always look for comedy in such things, like the folksy gosh darn messages, which are weird.
So now it’s photos, dictation and UPC look up which frankly can be handled just fine outside of the eBay app.
Missed opportunities! And missed temudjins post earlier. Ignore.
