My company has a legal response ready in case it comes up.
There’s no way I want liability if some obscure item from 60 years ago doesn’t meet some criteria. So – impossible for me to comply.
Pretty much impossible for me to comprehend, honestly…
Saw that, no fvf.
So working through this – enjoyed the message ” now you’re talkin’ buyers love a lot of detail” when I entered a typically long description.
Of course, the app didn’t save it!
And, noting the handling fee etc., my preferences ( at the very bottom of the listing page ) are apparently set for 3 days handling time. Which isn’t right – where did that come from.
And suggested pricing is WAY HIGH ( but nice to see similar sold items right there
So, folksy messages, makes you think the app is aimed at the inexperienced, and screwed up execution.
But, will get used to it, everything will need to be double checked
After traveling for work for a few days, just went to list an item and WOW the app is now WAY OUT THERE!!!
Snap your fingers – looks entirely different – every section has a folksy message – like the pricing section leads with auction – “best to use when you don’t know how to price your item (!!!)
It is pre populating with slightly off categories –
Recommendations everywhere auction! Prices! Shipping!
No access to item specifics.
Worst, when saving for later, lost the description twice and list pictures 5 times. Lost the title once.
Expanded preferences ( but they aren’t mine !!!)
One cool thing, title provides the character count .
The bizarro universe
Hope you are feeling better!
Just got a prop 65 letter at work – to have on file.
Complying with this rule selling junk is – nigh impossible
You’ve hit upon one of my absolute pet peeves – descriptions which contain nothing except restrictions . Really negative way to communicate.
The other pet peeve is descriptions that say nothing but GRATE! ( yep, often spelled that way! ) or &@@estate fibd@@@

There’s no way to quantify this, but for many many years I have added everything possible about an item – especially things that have points of interest to specific collector groups. Old militaria with a name or a history, for example, often gets a better price with those details.
And if there is a story, I like to tell the story. And now and again someone responds, adds a note, asks for more, etc., or, at best, shares another story.
This refutes my subject and represents a hope that descriptions matter, and there is no item specific for “granpa probably swiped this plate from his college dining hall in the late 40’s, it has been stored since that time ” but a recent graduate of the same school really digs that info. ( recently happened! )Hearkens back to the old days, before item specifics and fixed price listings, carefully adding html for background, text , placing photos in between text for relevant message, getting great results.
The game questioner answered with “thanks” so, not a “buyer” – maybe either another seller checking their game, someone looking for info, or wow, maybe my game is missing something!!!!
08/24/2018 at 11:53 pm in reply to: New login page for Ebay – Sign in with your username OR Facebook #47939Always felt that 95% of watchers are sellers trying to see what something sells for. Wonder what would happen if they get an offer? Hmmmmmmm
This really isn’t important, but just noticed that the “correction” email also showed up in my eBay messages , while the first one did not. Making the first one seem like an phishing / compromised account,
08/21/2018 at 3:18 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Vintage Converse, Slot Car Track, Sony 8mm VCR (not working), Paper towel holder, Doorbell, Models #47806Steven, I would enjoy visiting because you seem to have all of the things I enjoy!
Quite the inspiration – I have 2 or three pairs of 70s converse , a boxed discwasher, tons of models not to mention a need for an 8mm player.
Oh yeah, stereo gear and guitars and amps!
The sad thing is these are all things that are in the things that are mine category.
My wife says get rid of everything!!!!
Oh well.
Question – what sells better, built up models or kits? I have kits that I suppose I could build if that would generate more $$$!
Thanks
Just got an apology email from the Mighty E. Disregard, stand down, nothing to see here, S N A F U…
Got that here in western pa – so no rhyme nor reason -what the heck is eBay Collections anyway?
I had an old brass shell case pulled a few years back, it was essentially a tall ashtray, had been cut down. They actually called me, and sent a few stern emails about forbidden items.
Of course, had used a successfully sold listing to start, and there were many similar items listed, but that matters not.
Always wonder if it’s someone reporting you that causes the problem, but why rock the boat.
Thanks for that perspective!
Honestly, the costs to ship to Canada, not even considering the other charges, are nuts. On the USPS website, my 5 pound Priority box is $10.95 to ship to Niagara Falls and $47.80 to ship to Toronto.
Yikes!!!! That’s a hefty premium.
God call on the immediate pay, have to start adding that back in.
Pokey little puppy rocks!
Wow, glad that guess played out! Good selling!
