I just got an e-mail from eBay Collections asking for payment of my July invoice even though my account page says they automatically deducted on the 15th as usual. Looks like the email is legitimately from eBay, since they have my name and invoice total correct. Assuming it’s just a glitch and I can ignore it. Did anyone else receive the same?

I did just now. First I checked that it wasn’t a scam, but it appears to be from ebay. Then I double checked, and my invoice was paid 8/15. It appears to be a glitch. Interestingly, I see you are in/near Portland as am I. Maybe a geographical error only? Are there other non Pacific Northwest people who got an ebay collections email today?

I was just getting on the forum to see if anyone had had the same email. I also checked, and my account is up to date. Just another glitch.
Damn it, eBay, get with it!!!

Me too. I damn near had a heart attack. I’m glad to see others are having the same issue. Wait time for anchor support right now is 1 hour 48 minutes. Sweet baby Jesus.

I got it too. I have two accounts and got it on my smaller one and not my bigger one.

I got it too, today. Also citing the amount they received automatically on 8/15. My account shows I’m paid up so I think the email can be safely ignored.

Hmmm….OK…that’s what I was told by the better half, but I’m having trouble finding her source….still, I got the email and , for now, I’m just ignoring it. I think it’s just another in a long run of glitches.
I’m guessing Devin will apologize and tell us this is unacceptable.
And then we can all wait for the next unacceptable glitch…

“Rockstar Flipper” has a video up saying that he confirmed with ebay that this is a glitch and it is safe to just ignore the email.

I should have checked here first since I got this unusual email as well. I just called about it and before I was connected to anyone there was a prerecorded message confirming these emails were sent in error. Good to hear!

Yep. OK ebay, apology accepted. Try not to let it happen again!
On August 20, we sent you an email with the subject line ‘Keep your account in good standing – payment needed’, indicating that your payment was due. That email was inadvertently sent to you. We’re sorry for the time you may have spent reviewing and responding. We value your time and we apologize.
Your account is in good standing and there is no action required by you.
As always, to review your current payment status:
1. Go to My eBay, and then select Account.
2. Select the All account activity link in the Account Summary section. Thanks for your understanding.

This really isn’t important, but just noticed that the “correction” email also showed up in my eBay messages , while the first one did not. Making the first one seem like an phishing / compromised account,

I got one as well, so it’s not just a US thing. Didn’t show up in messages; the subject line is in block capitals and the English seems a bit off, as if it was written by someone with English as a second language (the first being some European language). Header on the email included an eco.de address (German).
The three links appear identical- I clicked on the first and it took me through to ebay.co.uk. The repeating of the links seems odd if it is an officially commissioned email.
Down the bottom there’s this:
This administrative email was sent by eBay Europe S.à r.l., which may make use of its affiliates to provide eBay services. If you are a non-EU resident, please find the contact data of your contracting party in the User Agreement.
So… off-English, amateur use of block capitals in subject line, identical links repeated, accurate use of name and bill amount, sent to both US and UK users.

I just checked the eBay response- the email has the same eco.de address in the headers, but has eBay.co.uk rather than eBay Europe in the text at the bottom of the message. Also says “we sent you an email” so they’re admitting it came from them.
Just watched the video to see what the US version looked like. Don’t rub your nose on camera, it looks uncouth 🙂 It’s identical. I don’t think this is a glitch.
