I would offer that you do not waste your time and energy repricing anything. That does not guarantee sales. Instead have sales. People love to see sales and discounts. They have no idea you lowered the price without an actual sale showing. You can do a sale of free shipping, or by percentage, or by a certain amount. Group items together by sale amounts. For example, if you have a bunch of clothes you think are priced too high, mark them down by 15% this week. Then whatever is left of the pile next week, mark down by 20%. Know your limits – how much you can mark down and still be in a reasonable sale range. In addition, as previously stated, create categories. While many shop based on the item they are looking for, some actually take the time to go through our stores. One final thought – start listing what you would be shopping for right now based on where you live and then add items for people on other side of the country and even for people living in other countries if you are part of Global Shipping.
This looks similar in style
This is the main link where I found the picture with the link above.

Yes, it is pictures. Not having the item up close, I can not see all the details in order to decipher if the set you have is one in the pictures that seems close to it in design and look. If you click on the picture that looks similar in nature – there are several- you will see what it is called and who is selling it. Sometimes this is the starting point for getting the exact information you are looking for.
Here is another link/perspective that may help.
This link may be of benefit.

Look on etsy under 70’s yarn art to get a general pricing idea. Then cross reference with clowns. You may also want to do a Google Image Reverse search.
Yes, I think it is Vintage Lacy. We humans are mysterious complex beings which really comes through in the world of business.
It’s not about the money. It’s about the purchase and clearing the unknown – what to do with the fabric? Obviously, she can’t just sit and look at fabric and not know what to do with it (especially if she is a sewer and does not wish to have stuff she cannot use). When one gets singularly focused, the larger perspective seen by others is often not seen by the one. We all do this in some form or another. For example, some people focus on losing weight and exercise everyday but their diet consists of fast food, alcohol, and/or sugary treats. Then they wonder why they are not losing (and in some cases are even gaining) weight. They are singularly focused and for some reason are not able to see the larger picture.
Sounds like she did not know what to do with the unwanted material, so instead of throwing it away (which could be considered a waste of money) or giving it away (which could be a loss of money), she wanted her money in order to rectify the wrong that occured for her in making the purchase. It’a all about perspective and focus.
So, you are a dog lover too I see. I love pets as well. Regardless of how this situation plays out (until all elements are finalized), I would offer to bring that relatedness to any further interaction there may be.
I wonder if she was getting this to remind her of her own dog or one she used to own. Pets are like family and people can have very strong reactions when it comes to matters related to their current and/or past pets/family members. I really like your professional response.

02/08/2018 at 5:04 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Phono cartridge, Sony CD player, VHS re-winder, Hot Wheel set, Amateur painting #32550I would offer that if something cannot be plugged in to see if it works, how would you sell it – as a functioning item or for parts? If you sell it as a functioning item and note that it has not been tested because there is no cord to test it, I believe you open yourself up to a return if the buyer cannot find a way to make it work even if they think they can when they buy it. I would agree that if one does not have the knowledge and/or abilities, it may be best to stay away from it.
In his videos, Steven notes that he tests electronics on sight before buying them if he can and if he can’t, he knows enough to take a chance on a purchase. You will notice that because he knows how to flip electronics, the chances he takes (if unprofitable) get covered by other electronics he has flipped.
Yes, you can escalate it but you still face the concept that you say you sent a sealed copy but the buyer is saying that something is missing which can only be known by having opened it. The question will come down to who did what. If you know for sure that you sent the buyer exactly what you said was being sold in the listing, then if you wish to you, you can call ebay. Be calm, focused, and facts only focused. There is no guarantee that you will win this but you can try. Remember, that even if ebay sides with you, the buyer can go to PayPal who will most likely side with the buyer.
LAwoman,
It depends on how much time you want to invest in this. If you have a restocking fee, you may want to charge it and move on. If you do not have a restocking fee, you may want to apply it to all of your other items that are being sold as new. If you call ebay, they may give you options but then again you may have the “he said she said” situation. It’s really your call. I am sure there are so many other things that you want to do with your time and energy than having to deal with someone who is not giving an accurate portrayal of the situation.-

02/07/2018 at 10:06 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 346: Frank Discussions. Gewgaws. Storage. #32499There are two different category setups. The first setup includes the store front categories one chooses when setting up the store front. The two choices are store or ebay.
The second are the categories chosen when doing a listing. The drop down default is other. To choose something else in a listing, one simply clicks on the drop down menu and then chooses the category name either based on the store categories they set up or the default ebay categories.
