For those who have gone:
1. Why did you go? Were you able to achieve your goal for going?
2. What were the networking opportunities like and have they been of benefit?
3. What were the major takeaways that one could not get from simply listening to the recording of the sessions?
4. How did going benefit your sales, store, inventory, profits etc?
5. Would you recommend that other sellers go to the upcoming eBay Open?-

MoCoyotes,
I am sorry to hear of this very complex and frustrating situation which is negatively effecting you. I would offer that this is just a process and ebay has lots of processes that they themselves have not worked out. I would offer that any further communications with ebay be done without emotions and with just facts presented in the most simplified manner you can come up with. Maybe create a bulleted list for yourself to share if and when needed. It is easier for people to follow and respond to facts and details than emotional expressions of what happened.
On another note, if I understand correctly, you are able to list everything else but the restricted items. Please take this as it is intended – to be supportive. Maybe this is a chance to shift focus and expand possibilities. I would offer that while the name brands bring in big money (much more than many other brands would), what else could you sell? I would also offer – this door is shut for now and it is out of your hands but how you regroup and move forward is not out of your hands. So, the main question is – how do you wish to regroup and move forward regardless of how this particular situation turns out?

03/28/2018 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Tracking Says Delivered – Buyer Messaging me saying it is not #36507She did not say she received a package of books from you, did she? Just that she received a package of books, correct? This might be a scam or someone who is not paying attention to the mail. Be careful how much you engage this and how much you say. This sounds like one of those sticky situatios that would benefit from the input of more experienced sellers.
The good part of relisting or sell similar in order to change format will be that your listings will have the words New Listing which helps visibility. If you use promoted listings, you may want to end and realist/sell similar 200 at a time and then create a promoted listings campaign for each set of 200. The promoted listings/campaigns are supposed to give you even more visibility.
Wow. What a frustrating situation. The format time frame is grayed out (locked in) once the listing becomes active, so I think you may have to wait until each listing ends in order to change the Format.
Definately call ebay. You do not want a sold item to get “sold again” because of being in active listings and then have to cancel a sale which could lead to a defect.
I wonder if it also has something to with Easter coming up and/or the fact that many people are on spring break and have time to shop.

I would offer- what is the priority- the immediate sale or long tail value sale?
Just a note to share about the upselling/private offer opportunity noted in the radio show. I called and spoke to an ebay rep who noted that while it may be okay to do, any items bundled that have not been listed will not be covered under ebay seller protection eventhough they were invoiced. For example, if a buyer messages a seller about a dress listed and the seller lets them know about a pair of shoes that would match the dress but are not listed and the buyer agrees to purchase both at a certain amount, they would be invoiced for both using the original listing. The only problem would be if the buyer acknowledges receiving the dress and but says they never received the shoes the seller would not be protected for the shoes because they were not listed and sold as a seperate entity.
Your sales look good. As for motivation, maybe shifting the focus from ebay selling to implementing your larger plan and seeing ebay as a part of it might be of benefit. Some questions come to mind that might be benefit. What is your larger goal? Is there something you have been wanting to do that you have put off or have not worked toward in awhile that you might be able to work toward now? Have you challenged yourself with identifying and being able to sell some BOLO items or other items you have not sold before? Have you tried any other platforms to see what they are about and as to whether they might provide an new opportunity/area of interest for you?
What amazing finds and flips. Thank you for sharing.
That’s a great question about the buyer reimbursement. That would be something to ask ebay. It was my understanding that the seller was not going to be dinged but instead ebay would cover the cost because it is their program.
PickingPair,
Ebay looses their FVF when a buyer returns an item and the seller refunds the buyer. Ebay is not worried that the seller will be loosing more than ebay will because they are banking on the thought that promoting Free Returns and mandating it will bring in more buyers and dollars than the loss incurred because of free returns.
Your point about the Top Sellers is correct. It seems that ebay is banking on Top Sellers wanting to hold onto the title and therefore caving to their self focused rule of having to have Free Returns. It is going to take those who have the title of Top Rated Seller and Top Rated Plus to let ebay know that this new stipulation is not okay and that the “other perks” are not adding up. Ebay counts on Top Rated Sellers to bring buyers to the platform, so if the number of them drops, it will negatively effect ebay but they think that Top Rated Sellers won’t give up their title.
Chessie,
I would offer to stick to the truth and stay to the facts even if it costs you to do so. If your listing said it was for parts and the buyer says they thought it was a working machine, the case can be closed in your favor because ebay will be able to clearly see that you said in the listing that it was for parts.
