The mobile friendly checker is used to provide compatibility between the PC/Mac eBay platform programming/coding and that of mobile devices which include phones and tablets. Phones and tablets use different operating systems, specs and features than those used on PCs and Macs. This means there must be specific coding written so that one operating system (the coding/programming) can “talk to” the other operating system (coding/programming) systems regardless of format (phone or tablet) and make certain actions occur. Due to the fact that operating systems are constantly being updated, programmers have to keep up with the changes in order to ensure compatibility. Without compatibility, certain listing features will not show up in a user-friendly form which may cause a buyer to simply bounce from a listing. The goal is to have a buyer see a listing, look through all elements with ease, and then complete a conversion (purchase). The easier this process is, the more likely a sale will occur. If the buyer finds it easy and enjoyable, they are more likely to shop for items and/or return as a consumer which is really the ultimate goal.
I am not a programmer, so I do not know why the mobile compatibility utility cannot just be automatically included in all listings instead of us having to activate it each time.

What a really cool find. Such a throw back.
The URL code might have to be included in order to have the video imbed , so I am giving it a try.

Well, it didn’t work. I wonder if it is a compatability issue which would be something that the programmer for this forum might know more about.

PickingPair,
If you have the time, please let ebay know of your findings. They do not seem to really address a problem (put it as a priority) unless they have enough people identify the problem and the impact it is having on them as a seller.
When I did a search yesterday, I found “shipping not specified” on two other seller’s listings as well as mine, so being logged in did not appear to be a variable. If it is happening on yours, please let ebay know, so they see it is a larger problem and make it a priority to fix.
Click on MyEbay in upper right corner.
Click on Listings
Click on Edit then go down to Edit All
Click on Edit Fields down arrow.
Go down to Handling Time and clickMike,
On the top right corner of the listing page there is a link that says Send Us Your Feedback. Once you click on it, it will open up into an email in which you can write and send a message. This may be a way to let them know about the problem without calling them.
Yes, mobile sales are growing rapidly and making sure the mobile format is on a listing can be the difference between making a sale or not making one.

I’m glad it was easy and turned out well. Since this was $150.00 dollar purchase, the buyer may try to challenge it through eBay or Paypal. If they do, stay calm because you are covered. If they message you, I would offer that you refer them to eBay. In addition, keep an eye on your feedback. If they put something negative about not getting it or something to that effect, call eBay and ask to have it removed. You may want to try looking under Chinese or Japanese Pot bakeware or cookware
While, I do not have data, store fees and listing fees are a huge money maker for ebay (and possibly even a way to recoup money with there being thousands and thousands of sellers). This is most likely why they keep uping the anty and changing their configuration, so it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
B-Rock,
Your data gathering idea is really great and could actually help sellers when addressing ebay about the impact of their decisions on sellers.
I would offer that you start a thread with a specific title such as Returns Approach data – Please share. I would also offer that you then add the questions – Returns percentage. Is this policy new? Has this return policy effected your sales? Has this return policy effected your profits? Then either you or someone else who is able to can begin an excel sheet and include visual graphs which will tell the larger story.
This is really surprising because it is going to set eBay up to lose money. If we don’t list, they do not get to charge us for a store, fees for going over the number of listings we are allowed, the final value fee for each listing, promoted listings fees etc. In addition, the eBay website (and therefore their offerings) will diminish greatly if people do not list but instead add items to what they have listed. Something doesn’t sound right about that.
Ultimately, this could move people off the site and to private sales which would leave eBay out of the financial loop. eBay has stringently fought against this and even implemented more rules about any activity off of eBay, so it is hard to imagine that they would open this door to all sellers. Moreover, eBay messages will become a complex maze to get through just for the seller and eBay to benefit from this strategy which makes one wonder why they would open this door.
Yes, the problem is sporadic. One day it’s fine. The next day it spins. Then when you exit out and go back in it works again. It’s an important feature, so I just wait it out.

If your wife will be using the computer for homeschooling, you will want to make sure your specs match with those of the school district as far as the websites and software they use. Some websites and software for education are compatible with older models of computers while the advancement of technology has made some older computers simply unusable because they do not have the memory and/or processing speed required to run the websites and/or software programs. In addition, if you buy a used computer, you will want to make sure that you know how to clean it (install and run a compatible antivirus/malware program) before doing anything else in order to make sure you and your family do not start off with viruses. On another note, if you plan for your children to have these computers for more than a year or two while being homeschooled, you may want to consider investing in new computers in order to make sure the computers will be compatible with new technologies as they come out. Some websites and software programs are specifically designed around the most current technological features. As for the warranties on older previously owned computers, I would not rely on them. It is my understanding that they cannot be transferred once they have been registered by the original owner.
As for linking computers together, yes, that can be done within your home network. I have never used a mac, so I am not sure how it is done with a mac, but I imagine it is probably done in a similar way as with a PC – in Settings. YouTube would be a great resource for learning about setting up an home network in order to have all computers synced. This would allow you and your wife the greatest control over the computers while also providing ease of use especially if there is a need to print from one printer.

How wonderful that he was able to live life on his own terms before his death. I think it would be really great if you shared this story as an individual thread so everyone can see it.
