I also had a successful resolution of a return case using eBay for Business on Facebook. I messaged them on a return request (does not fit) for a Levis 541 jeans sold through GSP, buyer in Germany saying they were way way way too small. Levis 541’s are an “athletic fit” and much tighter than other Levis, but it’s not indicated on the tag. I measured the jeans carefully and put that in the listing. The buyer had messaged me in German and also using Google Translate, but I felt that the language barrier had made it so he did not understand what he was buying. I received $21.20 total from the sale, buyer paid $45.73 with GSP. I was prepared to refund the buyer the whole $45.73, but decided to reach out to eBay for Business as I have heard others do. I did that on Monday, which apparently is their very busy day. I heard back from them Tuesday morning, they had already refunded the buyer the full price that I received (buyer can keep the jeans), and created a request to refund the rest of the GSP fees, which can take up to 72 hours for the buyer to get. So, the buyer will get back everything they paid. I’m glad it worked out for the buyer and also selfishly for me! Happy buyer, happy life, happy seller, happier life.

Solid week, and was able to move some long-held items. I’ve put a small sale on a lot of those, and am considering following ChristineR’s lead and putting other long-held items (and perhaps bad early buys) on auction. It’s Spring cleaning that ensures sales/income on a set day, and keeps my limited space primed for better items.

Appreciate all the BOLO advice I’ve encountered…a great recent sale that will go in next week’s #s is a vintage brass wire soap dish, the kind that hangs over a claw foot tub, for example. Picked it up for $10 at an estate sale, and sold it yesterday for $125. I love old stuff.

@simplicio – a USED neti pot for $140??! Was it jewel-encrusted? Wowsa. Love it.

24 hours ago, I never heard of Lalique…then I watched the BBC show “Bargain Hunt” and one of the contestants was looking all over a flea market/antique show for Lalique glass. He found this little fish that looked like a yellow and slightly larger Swedish Fish candy, that was Lalique glass. It was 80 GBP. I would have thought it was some cheap bathroom accessory from Target.

Then I listen to the podcast this afternoon, and Jay mention that Lalique would make his heart race if he found some. I’m sure myself, and many others would have easily walked past many Lalique glass items in the past.

I’m doing a quick Google Image Search to get a visual education on what the various Lalique glass items look like – and BOLO for them in the future.

The two things I thought of off the top of my head was a vintage Panasonic pencil sharpener and a vintage wood Napa Valley CD holder. The CD holder was my husband’s and was sitting on the top shelf of a closet for many years until I happened to notice it. We had a BOLO hidden right in our house for all this time!

Thanks J&R for introducing me to this artist/designer. I definitely recognized these prints from the 70s once you brought them up; I had just forgotten about them.

Anybody else find anything recently that has been on their BOLO list for a while or has been mentioned here on SL?

I’m still waiting to spot my first Coogi sweater and Dansk kobenstyle cookware. Oh, and recently I found my first vintage satin Starter jacket – NY Giants. Cost about $3!!!

Thanks for the BOLO! Every once in a while I fall back into the bad habit of not researching the current values for something if I think it looks cheap or if I’ve seen hundreds of the same type of item over the years languishing at flea markets etc. But I have frequently regretted that, and have just as frequently thanked myself for overcoming my laziness and researching something I was not going to bother with. My mantra: Always research. I say again: Always research. Never forget it: Always research.

I made an unexpected, but completely welcomed, discovery of a BOLO this week.

I recently purchased a lot in an online auction for the minimum bit of $1. Mostly, it had VHS tapes, CDs, and cassettes, and I was excited to find a huge collection of Bruce Springsteen stuff. I’m in process of getting that listed, but, in the meantime, I went to list a cassette tape holder that I figured I could sell in the $12-$15 range. I didn’t know the logo, and I was going to list it as unknown, but I decided to do some research first.

Eventually, I hit pay dirt. This type of cassette holder was modified and used by the Star Trek prop department as an engineering kit. Not for the original Star Trek, but it was used on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. I found photos online showing that the color I had was the one most often used as a prop. People who do Star Trek cosplay are looking for these holders for their own costumes.

The Ebay listing that gave this information was for a rose/pink color holder. It sold on auction for $81! So, I listed mine for $120 or best offer. A few hours later, I got an offer for $90. I waited about 24 hours, but I didn’t get another offer. I didn’t want to lose the sale plus I had told myself that anything over $81 would be acceptable. It is now on its way to the UK.

That makes sense that the boys suits sell well. What parent wants to pay a couple hundred dollars for a suit that their boy may wear once or twice? By the time they go to wear it again, they have grown and the suit is too small.

So, I will put this on my BOLO, but I don’t remember seeing very many. I have access to a lot of mens suits, but I find you have to have the cream of the crop to make it worth it. So I look only look for the best in Mens suits. I found a near perfect Mens Polo Ralph Lauren Suit from the 1960’s and put a high price on it. It is getting a lot of interest because I can see all the hits on it in my “Performance -> Traffic”

Glad I ran the numbers because it felt very slow. Hectic week outside of ebay with hosting a big superbowl party, a number of medical maintenance appointments for the fam, and family visting. No progress on the death piles and I hit one of our big three annual rummage sales. On the way home, I found an estate sale. I’m kind of looking forward to allowing myself to shop those after I’m through the piles. However, I felt like a total schmuck when I lied to the late homeowners’ daughter after she asked me if I needlepoint. I’m a bit sketchy about digging through someone’s house and life. Pactra Hi-Glo Fluorescent FL3 Bold Blue Spray paint. (can appears full).

I’ve done a little research and it looks like this brand is related and possibly became Testors, who makes model paint. I haven’t been able to find comps for cans of this size or age. It has a paper label and of course no bar code. The bottom of the label is torn, so any information that might have been there is gone.

I’m guessing 1970’s or possibly 1980’s.

If anyone is an expert in this area, or can give me an accurate idea of age or interest, I’d appreciate it. Otherwise, I’m going to put fairly high on auction and see what happens.

This is how I see sharing info on what sold and BOLOs. If you list your item for $15 and mine is at $45, they will buy yours. But when you discover that the item is actually more valuable, you raise your price and i have LESS competition. Our prices are closer. So besides sharing knowledge because we are generous human beings, it actually might help us. But I agree, keep quiet in your local area.
