Thanks for your advice all. So to clarify, the buyer has entered a “return” for them to ship back the item (won’t happen since they already returned it). They have a couple weeks to return it. I suppose they could call ebay and provide the tracking info (which they do have). My thoughts at this point is to do nothing.
Ebay said nothing about it being sent outside of the returns process.
So, guys here is my question: If someone returns something outside of ebay’s return process, do you just wait until they open a case to give a refund? What if they never do? When do you relist?

There are quite a few countries that don’t permit it, I don’t know if it is protectionism for their industry or a health policy or something. I would recommend not trying to circumvent it, as it is the law of that land. It is entirely possible that when the item gets received in the destination country, and is inspected, they’ll kick it back to you.
Yup, this is exactly what I say too. Typically i never heard back when I say this.
I’m a native Chicagoan, but I spent a lot of time in Northern Michigan and Minnesota before moving out here to Northern California. I think the scavenging is far better in the midwest in quality and price. Weather, well, that’s a different story!
03/08/2021 at 3:52 pm in reply to: Ebay seller convicted of defrauding USPS of $250K in unpaid postage. #86547Makes you wonder if he was even making any money off selling the actual item or if this was effectively a postage scam only.
I have never heard a customer representative from any other company tell me that other representatives at that same company were wrong and gave me false information. With ebay it is routine. About half the issues I call about more than once I am told I got bad information from them.
1 week After the 2nd shot of moderna or pfizer you are 95 percent protected against serious or deadly disease from covid 19 inclusive of variants. Still wear a mask, still disinfect your hands, but I’d say you are OK to go out at that point. I am a retired physicians assistant, also relatively immunocompromised myself, and me and the wife are both done with the vaccine. We plan on feeling more relaxed going out but will still be cautious until more people get their vaccines.
I get a few genuinely helpful messages identifying an item or clarifying what it is, but I probably get more from the column of hostile/weird/confused/”negging” my items or listings. This may be extreme, but I block anyone who sends me messages like this. It is basically to reduce drama and difficult customers. They may as well raise their hand and say “Hello, I have emotional and/or mental health issues”. When I don’t block them, without fail 2/3 of them start returns/open cases. I consider those messages a warning that they are going to be demanding or irrational, so they are doing me a favor by letting me know up front.
My assistant always tapes over the barcodes. At first I didn’t like it because of the warning not to, but I’ve never had a single issue with it come up. I have had a few issues with torn adhesive labels though, so I figure there’s actually incentive to tape over the label really well.
I do like that. Read between the lines kinda thing!
I was looking at my negative feedbacks over the last 2 years of selling (6 or them out of 2000 feedback), and I saw that half are people listed “no longer registered” with ebay. I guess that means they closed their account or got kicked off. I have had a few humdingers in terms of craziness.
My thought what is better is ranking by a star system. Like 1-5. No explanations as to why, no nasty comments or emotions.
On the comments responding to negative feedback, I am struggling finding the diplomatic public words for “this person is nuts”
Interesting. I am still seeing tons of issues at USPS, so it doesn’t seem over yet. I still have items out from Pre-christmas.
Makes me wonder the kind of liability the seller could face for this. Although there’s plenty of blame to go around here obviously. Very sad.
Do you have the option on to block messages from blocked users?
Do you guys issue a refund if you receive the item back but no return case is filed?
